Could you also tap into the led DRLs on the non LED headlights? That way you can run the back light during daytime driving without having to turn the marker lights on.
@@ShawnFielden it was the green wire, DD confirmed. But. I avoided using the t-taps, as they have corrosion issues with time. I bought the plug and play harness for the backlight from DD's site instead 17$.

No extra material needed, just ensure you get a 4-pin DT-Style connector, and a 3-way switch! Just toggle the backlight switch on and off 3 times to change the colors to your desired color!

Most customers wire the backlight into their DRL wire for the backlight feature, however, if you don't have a DRL in your headlights, you could have them wired to an auxiliary switch, or another power wire, however you see fit!

I have an issue installed eveything correctly on my 23 tacoma with led headlights. T tapped the pinkish wire. It did not work thinking i didnt pinch it hard enough. I went to use pliers to pinch it the wire got cut clean. I soldered it backtogether and thinking of a different way. Is there anyway to do it? Such as using a add a fuse even thought wire isnt long enough. In willing to add more wire. I know the backlights work cause i tested it by touching the ends to my battery

In the middle of my install…I have a 2014 Tacoma with factory TRD Pro headlights (not LED). I’m trying to tie into the side marker 12v wiring for the backlight feature; however, there is no purple wire, only a green and white. I don’t want to assume, is the green the equivalent of the purple wire?

@@okkin981 Unfortunately, we do not have a compatible harness for OEM LED Headlights. You will have to use a tap, or custom splice into the power wire in order to gain function of the backlight. The main beam does not require a tap in order to use, so they can be installed without taping anything!

These are simply an accent light. They tend to be "brighter" or more amber through a yellow optic as well!

It is optional! You do not have to run the backlight if you do not wish to.
