Not sure if I’ll get a response but I got the SSC2s with the Tacoma harness and everything but the OEM style button I got does not have a wire for the backlight. Do I need the blue backlight wire to be hooked up to anything? Or can I run it with just the main function hooked up. That’s all I really need anyways I just wasn’t sure about having a wire from the harness not actually being connected to anything. Thanks!
Is the wiring harness provided double fused with a lower amp fuse to protect the low amp switch that was substituted. Wouldn’t want a short to smoke it.
The switch provided with your kit should have 2 positions. Flip it one way for backlighting and flip it the other way for main lighting. Not sure if you wired it yourself or used the harness and switch from Diode.
The only thing hilding me back from these are the plugs to the lights themselves. The exposed wires specifically. Why go through all the trouble to make this kit just to have exposed wires showing in plain sight ? Why not have a permanent wire from the light itself with the plug ran into the engine bay ? Cleaner look and less apt to have possible water damage. Just my opinion and i know i could just wrap it but thats not the point. You would just be wrapping over and over again over time.
The plugs are water tight with a seal built in. Deutsch connectors are environmentally sealed, waterproof electrical connectors that are commonly used in automotive, marine, and industrial applications.
I like the first ones. They are smaller and don't obstruct visibility that much.
Don't use wire taps or what us electricians call "suitcases". Cut, strip, solder always.
what is the yellow back light typically used for if not part of the main function of the ditch lights?

There is a separate power wire for the main light output and the backlighting output. Both wires need to be hooked up to work properly
