    Hi Barry, a great technique :) I have always found that most of my clicks & sales come from close match with just a few from substitutes therefor I switch the others off. I don't have the budget to try this technique but most of the time i leave just the close match running to keep it simple and the most relevant to my books. When you look at the suggested targeting for each of these it varies a fair bit, sometimes a higher bid is needed for loose match for instance. The other thing i do is check for negative products and keywords regularly and exclude those ones, so I am shaping the ad to suit the exact titles of my books.

    • @barrygeorgioukdp
      @barrygeorgioukdp  6 місяців тому +1

      Sounds good. Once you've gathered enough data it's a great idea to negate targets since it forces amazon to spend on targets that work :)

    I would have thought that if the ADs are automatically allocating to substitute and complimentary that is the best way to do it. As that’s more effective at getting traffic to your book?

    I'm close in reaching my ad campaigns for a book running for 1 month. I got some data. Not sure if that data is good or bad but I have all the keywords in broad only for now, since that's how I started my ads. I'm confused on what's the next step actually. Any chance to make a video about what we do in first few months and how do we optimize the campaigns and how we move forward? Because even though I have sales, obviously I lost money now and that's okay, as your other videos say. But how do we even optimize that thing that will allow us to run ads and make money instead of losing money? Because I assume you gotta just make different ads down the line with only the "winning" keywords but that's pretty random by now. Some may click on the book from a keyword and buy it today but tomorrow that keyword won't bring any sales. And I'm confused on how to make that thing work... So even if I make winning keywords ads, I think I'll still lose money, so I have no idea what to do next... And this is my first book that actually gets many clicks and some sales, which means my cover works and there's some people that actually bought the book. It's my first time that I probably have a "good" book and I don't know what to do next.

    • @barrygeorgioukdp
      @barrygeorgioukdp  6 місяців тому +1

      If you didn't get sales at the start it's not the end of the world. You can run some ads and see how it performs. However if you don't have any reviews and your listing is very poor I would suggest relaunching with a new asin and improve the listing as much as possible to help with a stronger launch :)

    What if I have 100 ORGANIC sales? Would auto campaign still work?
    Since I didn't "feed" Amazon ads with specific keywords?

    • @barrygeorgioukdp
      @barrygeorgioukdp  5 місяців тому

      The auto ads can't recognise ppc sales from organic sales I believe. Amazon just recognises sales. However in your case its difficult to pinpoint where the sales came from. For example did they come from 100 different search terms (1 sale per search term) or 5 different search terms with 20 pieces of sales data each. If amazon has multiple sales from a single keyword then it will be able to make better decisions with the auto campaigns. I hope it makes sense and I didn't confuse you. It's a little bit difficult to explain without a whiteboard :)

    Hi Barry,
    As you mentioned in your previous videos I set up a manual keyword targeting ad campaign and a product targeting ad campaign. I ran them for 1 month and was about to start the automatic targeting ad campaign. I am sure the strategy you talk in this video will work for sure. If someone doesn't have enough budget to run 4 auto campaigns, is it ok to run one auto campaign and then with time (after getting some money from sales) scale it up to 4 campaigns like you mentioned in this video? Or should I run 4 auto campaigns from the start? Would like to know your opinion.
    Thank you.

      I can't predict which campaign will work most effectively which is why I like to launch all of then to gather data to help me make decisions :)

      @@barrygeorgioukdp Thank you for the reply. I ran 4 auto campaigns as you told. One ad campaign has got over 15 clicks and spend over 14 dollars. But it hasn't got any orders. This is my 3rd day. Is it normal to happen or is there anything I can do to make it right?

    • @barrygeorgioukdp
      @barrygeorgioukdp  5 місяців тому +1

      @Damian-lz7mr Again I simply don't have enough information to give you personalised advice on your book. There can be 10 different reasons why you spent 14 dollars and didn't make any sales. Usually your book listing is the issue not the ads :)

  • @travv88
    @travv88 6 місяців тому

    So it would be worth stopping auto ads I already have going and swapping to this 4 separate auto ad strategy?
    I've had way too much ad spend lately but I do have books ranking on page 1 for a number of keywords. Would it be a good move to reduce spending on manual targeting and move to this type of automatic targeting for those books and only do higher spend on newer books I'm trying to rank? edit: gonna try this with 1 book.

    • @barrygeorgioukdp
      @barrygeorgioukdp  6 місяців тому

      I like to have both manual and auto a working since they both have their place. If your ad campaigns had a specific targeting group that is working you can keep it running and simply pause and launch auto campaigns for the targeting groups that aren't spending :)

    • @travv88
      @travv88 6 місяців тому

      Good idea. I turned off one of the new ones I made and turned my old auto ad back on and kept it only on the best targeting group @@barrygeorgioukdp
