      Hello! New to KDP and would like to ask. How do you know which books to continue with campaigns? What determines the decision to stop, continue campaigning? Do you ever stop and restart campaigns after some time has passed? List of questions 😅 Haven’t come across a video that covers these questions. If you have a video that covers this in more detail, please share. Thank you for sharing such great content.😊

    Hey Craig! New subscriber here! My book is currently at 9.99, it's a book for mothers and i have 3 other books for mothers- so 3 books that are high content like 1 self help book, 1 activity book, 1 joke book. The self help book comes with a workbook and a prayer journal, i moved it from 11.99 to 9.99 while the other two books are now at 9.99 and the activity book at 8.99
    The first question is,
    Should i have all my books in one ad group since there are all within the same niche for mothers or should i have different ad campaigns?
    2. One of keywords i want to rank for is at $0.78 - 1.21 and suggested bid is at $0.93. Should my bid be closer to the lower bid of the range or at the suggested bid, my daily budget is $4. I originally went with 0.50. What do you think
    3. Should the prices of my book be higher or lower since they are with ads, the 3 high content books have a royalty of $2.61 while the activity book has a royalty of $1.70

    • @CraigBabin
      @CraigBabin  8 місяців тому +1

      Hey Daniella,
      1. Because all of your books are aimed at mothers, it wouldn't hurt to try a group campaign. If you find that only one of the books is selling, then the group campaign isn't working to sell your other books, so separate them.
      2. Start off at the lower end of the bid to see if you get any clicks on your book. If you're getting a lot of clicks but no sales, there's no sense in raising your bid for that keyword, because it's not getting sales from the clicks you're already getting. Now if you don't get very many clicks but do get some sales, raise your bid to reach more people.
      3. In the beginning it's not about making a profit, it's about getting sales and reviews (which will eventually move your book up in the search results and get you more organic sales on a consistent basis). So keep your prices toward the lower side (just below your competitors), just as long as you're not losing money. That being said, if you find that over time you're book is selling, but not a lot, try raising the price equal to, or even just above, the price of your competitors books. Psychology sometimes plays a roll when it comes to selling, and people think that cheap items are cheap because they're not very good quality, and that expensive items are expensive because they're of better quality.
      Advertising is a process that you need to keep experimenting with until you find what works for you.

    Hi Craig, thank you for a very through and thoughtful video. I published my first non-fiction on health and healing book in 2021, sales were pretty good at the beginning. I have not run any ads purely from the fear of making expensive mistakes. My question is, can the keyword search tool for low content book by Book bolt be applied to non-fiction books. I was busy using Publisher Titan for my keyword search at the time. I notice that Amazon also places the book with their own book categories.
    Apologies if my question is too long. I love to hear from you. Have a nice day. Alamail 😊

    • @CraigBabin
      @CraigBabin  Рік тому +1

      Book Bolt's research is primarily for low and medium content books that are published with KDP. Full content books like novels, will not show up in the research. I wanted to make sure so I did a search for health and healing books, and all that came back were gratitude journals, workbooks and blank recipe books.
      So no, Book Bolt wouldn't be right for you.

    Brillant Craig. I am going to follow you all the way. Your delivery flows like water. I just have a quick question: When I first loaded my content on Amazon KDP, there is that department on the first page called keywords which hass you to fill out 7 lines..not single keywords words, but lines. What relationship does that content have with the Amazon advertising campaign whilst using the aid of Bookbolt?

    • @CraigBabin
      @CraigBabin  6 місяців тому

      Those are basically search phrases that a customer might use to look for your book on the Amazon platform. Those phrases should contain keywords that pertain to your book. The keywords in those phrases are what Bookbolt is looking for when it does searches.
      So if you're using Bookbolt to find keywords that are getting a lot of searches, try to incorporate those keywords into KDP's 7 keyword phrases.

    • @audiovisualdesignprint
      @audiovisualdesignprint 6 місяців тому

      @@CraigBabin Thank you for the quick reply. This is so interesting and helpful.
      So, just to be clear, do I need to make sure that all my keywords that I am researching in BookBolt are only derived from what I have in those 7 phrases on my KDP account for that one book? If so, what is the recommended maximum, because I am now thinking I need to completely start over and could find an infinite number, if you know what I mean?

    • @CraigBabin
      @CraigBabin  6 місяців тому

      @@audiovisualdesignprint You should be researching highly traffic keywords in Bookbolt before you create those 7 phrases in KDP, and then use those keywords in those 7 phrases. Keyword traffic changes over time, so if you find that your books aren't getting a lot of sales after a year, research new keywords and change your 7 phrases.

    • @audiovisualdesignprint
      @audiovisualdesignprint 6 місяців тому

      @@CraigBabin Thank you again. So, to get this right, I only need to prepare 7 phrases to get going, right?
      I noticed you only used 2 words in the first part of your tutorial "lyrics Journal' . Is there a general rule of the number of words to capitalise on in each phrase?

    • @CraigBabin

    Unbelievably helpful video. When does Amazon report ad analytics? I believe KDP doesn't report a paperback book sale until it shipped (which can be days). How quickly do we see ad clicks and order data on a campaign?

    Craig, I also noticed that the Customer Search Term phrases generate a very low ACOS relative to my keyword phrases. On average, 8%-22% vs. 50%-90% with the keywords terms. What would you make of this, and how could I tailor my campaign more effectively so my ACOS is in this lower range? I already added all of the customer search terms as Keywords since they seem to pick better keyowrds than myself or Amazon! Thanks.

    • @CraigBabin
      @CraigBabin  Рік тому +2

      The customer search term phrases will always have better results, that's why in the video, I point out how important it is to find out the customer search volumes of the keywords you're using. You will always get the best results if you're giving the customer exactly what they're looking for.
      I would keep using the keywords that are getting you the 8%-22% ACOS and delete all of the keywords that have higher ACOS percentages. You don't need hundreds of keywords in your campaign, you just need a few good ones that work. I've gotten some of my best results when my campaign was only targeting 5 phrases in total.

  • @mellowmoods8393
    @mellowmoods8393 Рік тому

    Craig, another useful video, thanks. I'm up to my 5th month on KDP and am about breaking even to being a little under on my sales to ad spend. I'm noticing that on my keywords where I am generating clicks and sales, my Bid amount has been WAY over the suggested bid amount/range and I am generating a large ACOS as a result, ie..50%-90%. On these keywords that are getting these sales, should I keep my Bid amount at this high range, or should I lower it? Overall, my lifetime ACOS has been about 45%. Thanks.

    • @CraigBabin
      @CraigBabin  Рік тому +2

      If you're ACOS is over 50% your bids are way too high. Anything over 30% and you're losing money. On the keywords that are getting sales, try lowering your bids to the suggest bid for a little while and see how that plays out for you. And make sure you're not using fixed bids, that may be why your bids are so high over the suggested bid. Make sure that you're enabling Amazon to lower your bid if it's too high.
      The keywords that you're paying really high bids on, may just be too broad, try niching them down a bid. If the keyword phrase is too broad, there is going to be a lot more competition among the sellers who are placing ads, and that drives the bids up.

    • @mellowmoods8393
      @mellowmoods8393 Рік тому

      @@CraigBabin Thanks. I'm going to overhaul this. I also noticed that today I had a sale, and my target bid for this keyword that generated the sale is .45 yet I was charged .91 for my ad spend for this click and sale. Why would I be charged .91 if my bid amount is only .45, and I use Down Only bid strategy across the board. Thanks.

    • @CraigBabin
      @CraigBabin  Рік тому

    • @CraigBabin
      @CraigBabin  Рік тому

      There is no set number of impressions. If you're not getting any clicks, try raising your bid amount. If you start getting even more impressions and yet still no clicks, you may be targeting the wrong keywords and phrases, so try targeting different ones.
      If after all of that you're still not getting clicks, that's when you need to take a second look at the design of your book cover.

      How you choose to use the tools Amazon gives you for advertising and how you approach the research are a big part of the tactics. You could easily just let Amazon do everything for you including bids, keyword generation, etc. That would also be a possible tactic, but I show you in this video how to do all of that manually to get better control and results.
      But there is only so much you can do within Amazon ads. If you're looking for ways to promote your books outside of Amazon, then check out this video here:
