For spray painting bits of cars in a cold garage I bought an old ceramic infrared heater off eBay and made an adjustable stand for it. Dead handy for getting the workpiece to a reasonable temperature, say 20-30C, without having to heat the entire garage to that temperature! Also good for getting paint to dry/cure quickly.
Hi James, my mum has a micra 1.2, she has had it 13 years. Apart from the drivers internal handle, battery, brakes and tyres nothing has gone wrong. There are a couple of very small rust bubbles but for a 15 year old car. It still looks great but the headlights are yellowing now. Great content and love your honesty!
I completely agree with you farming out some of the mechanical work. When you find a good mechanic it's great. I used to fix all my own cars outside in the cold and the rain but found a guy local to me who is really professional and charges very reasonable rates! I'll still do an oil and filter change myself but he now gets all the sweary jobs! Proud to be a chopper!

Hi James, just watched you advising that you are having reaction to wheel for painting, Wheels tyres are always full of silicon shine, And also i never detail the car when i am spraying the car with paintwork, to avoid silicone or wax related reactions. I always use OSCCAR silicon remover and use it as a panel wipe, It really takes all silicone out and also make sure that panel is left absolutely with no contemination before yous start spraying any Primer or even better that lacquer does not have any silicone reaction either. A couple of years ago, when I was shopping for a replacement for my very used 97 Honda Civic hatchback, I considered one of these as folks said they were quite roomy inside. Unfortunately, here in the 'states the Note (not sold here since 2017) is considered to be a very cheap car. So very few beautiful metallic colors (I do like this color) and the manual transmission is reserved for the basic/bottom rung trim level. All other trims get a CVT, YECH.
I had one after two days had to go back as major rust issues in engine bay where engine mount meats the subframe. Looked at three more and they all same . Anyone else had this issue
£126 is a bargain for all that work mate , as i got quoted £200 just to replace 2 front springs lol but i live near London so always getting ripped off here
@@Cayres9 well 2 new shocks are about 170 trade for the pair mate and its the same work as the springs you usually need new top mounts as that's probably why the springs have snapped, the mounts seize and the springs do the turning until they snap, I'd probably charge, about 500 for everything (about 320 in parts) we're a mid size garage, not a main dealer.
Nissan Note, nothing wrong with the colour of this one, if anything if I were buying a Note and had a choice between this colour and white (ref the previous Note you had), I would choose this colour all day long.

I am glad that Nissan Note turned out not too bad to repair and bring it on to the forecourt. I have decided to stick to cars between11 and 14 plate and stay in 5 to 6K sub market. I only buy cars with BCA Assured to make sure there is no mechanical Fault and I do the bodywork and detailing myself to make sure that i make the car absolutely mint before i put it up for sale. I bought a Seat Ibiza 14 Plate, Grade 3, 60K on the odo, Full Service History, i put a proxy on it for £4400, retail value at Auto Trader is coming up at £6850.00, so after fees, warranty, vat margin and prepration fees, i should have about £1300 margin on it. Those Nissan chain engines can get stretched chains mate, you then get cam sensor codes or crank ones but it's basically the chain stretching and messing up the timing, I had a 107 with the same, tbh I think belts are better, had a x trail that wouldn't tick over due to chain stretch.
Just seen this comment after leaving my last one on the 1L engines in the K12 Micras. I had one with cam position sensor code that kept coming and going. Just bailed on it and sold it to a takeaway driver for £400. Biggest fail ever 🤦
@@sammytheseal2307 I put a switch cutting off the cam sensor so it ticked over when cold, when warmed up flick the switch and cam sensor working again, bit like a choke.
@@sammytheseal2307 got me out of a hole, Nissan x trail, just a rough one so not worth putting a chain on it, improved it with a thermal switch so when it warmed it it went closed circuit. So like an auto choke this time.
Nissan of recent years are definitely NOT solid.... Older ones are good but not sure how far back you need to go to be sure. The Renault link was when Nissan started going down hill badly...

James, invest in a Lilly Brush for about £15 (don't buy copies, they don't work). They get every pet hair out of seats and carpets and make interiors look like they've never had a dog in.
If they guarantee the mileage at the online auction then they have to be able to provide proof that the mileage is genuine and how they managed to verify the mileage is correct
No. Bca manheim are a law upon themselves. They state the declaration of the vendor. So the main agent group. Where found wrong later it can be deal undone. Namely car can be returned to auction. It’s literally all on trust. Unless you worked in the industry bought endless auction stock you wouldn’t know. By the way once bout 3O days passed any mileage issue you’re told to live with it. Auction staff stressed make out you are the problem !!!!!! Not the incorrect mileage of the car. Wipe egg off your face live with it. Unless a 4Ok car nobody follows it up with court litigation. Do this and then lose your auction account. Lovely isn’t it. The car job. The auction job. Old school traders try where best avoid main national auctions get better relationships smaller auctions and other buying options . It’s on trust the mileage by National auctions. Who also charge the biggest commission!!! . It’s a BS vendor declaration!!!!!

I forgot to check that it said on the notes that the vehicle is modified, so not sure what i am going to expect, picking it up on Monday from Bristol at 8.30 AM, Bring it back to Derby and see what we are dealign with regards to modifications. wish me luck.
Sounds like a good business plan buddy, best of luck!
Dog hair silicon brush or squeegee and then fabric conditioner in some water will help it all come out easy.
Love the Nissan Note. Brilliant car.
It's an absolute tardis for space and a really comfortable family car.
Dog presence would be an absolute no for me though.
Great cars. The new owners never know I clean them up properly
Cheeky tip for you with dog hair… use a silicone squeegee like the ones for your shower glass on the fabrics, so quick and easy!
Oh cheers
I was think whilst watching the Ibiza video that a broken suspension part puts extra stress on the wheel bearing. The Note was a good buy!
Yes Nissan as a rule is good
@@ChopsGarage however I have heard that they've gone downhill in recent years (since their merger with Renault), maybe something to be aware of as such cars start to filter through to the sub 5K category?
Why when I take my car to have an MOT it always needs £500+ worth of work needed?
Looks another nice car and hope it sells quickly for you and hope you make a good profit on it
P.s. in the State of South Australia there is no 'MOT' system or 'Road Worthy System' here as yet..!
Just don't Draw attention to yourself wiv Mr Plod and your Sweet.
If you Do Get an 'UnRoad worthy Sticker' there are 2 types. 1. You take to Local Plod Shop. Show its fixed, cop signs it off as Done and Off you Go.
2. Means the 'Pitts' where your lucky to ever see it again..! Not without Spending Wedges of $$$$.
They go Through it with a Fine Tooth Combe.
Last time it happened to me,
I bought another car, Same model and used the one wiv Ticket as Spares..!!
Only in South Australia mind..!
Cheers All. 😎
lovely car. we had an automatic, same colour same model. N-Tec. very smooth and quiet. loved it. trouble was, because it was an automatic, the road tax was £200! would love to still own it today. was thinking of getting another one. a manual next time.
Happy new year, love this video on the Nissan note I am looking for one for my wife but it needs to be a auto.
Be careful nissan auto gearbox can be dodgy , I've owned a note , manual , now for 3 years now no probs
wish i had a dad like you when i was her age i would of loved tinkering with car now im nearly 30 and still only no how to check fluid levels and change a wheel
Great video mate, I'm on with my polo just now (new years day), happy new year to you and your family mate.
@@roystonvehicles9129 Good idea mate, if it works it works
@@sammytheseal2307 got me out of a hole, Nissan x trail, just a rough one so not worth putting a chain on it, improved it with a thermal switch so when it warmed it it went closed circuit. So like an auto choke this time.
silicone spray down the channels will sort those window speeds out james
I was thinking that as well 👍
Nissan of recent years are definitely NOT solid.... Older ones are good but not sure how far back you need to go to be sure.
The Renault link was when Nissan started going down hill badly...
Listen buddy . For service history ring the relevant branch and they will tell you if it was advertised with history and also how many . And you can claim compensation if it was supposed to be there .
Not sure if u read the comments but ready this one will surely help .
Hi bud, yes issue is I don't have a copy of a report that said it did as proof
You'd wonder how they get key scratches on a car door... when it's just ..press the fob
Another great video from a ‘happy chopper’ 😂
I like your wheel refurb tyre banding method (playing cards) - is that honestly just playing cards pushed into the rim?
You should do a video on warranty claims on your sun £5k cars. I think that would generate some interest.
Happy new year chops!
Happy New year all. I wonder if one of the subscribers could help me out with my sat nav. 66 plate seat Leon, will find address when input full address, but not on a postcode? Any help appreciated.
Happy new year!
