Those opening 2 minutes were outstanding
So true he was like a fax machine
The opening gambit gets better and better and brightens up the darkest day! 😂
Definitely true!!
I don't like the Qashqai, but it's by miles better looking than that ugly Juke. I would retail this 🚗
@@curtisj2165 the Juke is horrendous
The first 2 minutes 30, was priceless, Matt! Only typical thing you forgot to mention along with 8PSI in one tyre etc, was that they are normally driven with the door mirrors still folded in! I see this all the time! Best thing to do with it would be to banger race it!
The first part is a straight-up stand-up comedy gig and a good one! :)😝 I was actually giggling along
Another beautiful Qashqai lives to fight another day. You are doing the lord's work saving these automotive gems.
And you kept a straight font all the way through that post! 😂😂
🤭😆😂🤣🤣🤣
well its scrapped now
More reliable than a range rover
You’re gonna hate me for this, but at the start of your video I thought, wow that Qashqai, looks drab inside - then realised you were actually in your Range Rover
😱😱😱
I am a fan of the channel though 🤣
Drove one a while back, actually drives quite well. They're decent cars overall.
Haha nope
Thanks for putting these out so frequently - I've binge watched every one.
Wow Thanks! Glad you like them!
So many you-tubers put out videos of cars which are out of most peoples reach. Would love to see a little more on what is done to bring them back to standard. ALA Wheeler Dealers for poor people. 😀
@@HighPeakAutos your bang on with the analysis crap cosa knocked up then quashqui 💩 🤣👍
Wasn't going to mention it until now, but saw 2 of your favorite cars together Matt. A Corsa T boned into a Qashqai, and it looked like they turned both the cars instantly back into parts for a spares bin. Thanks for a good year with the reviews etc. but I really like the 'I Brought a cheap' series....keep it up please.
What a surprise!
At least a Qashqai won't require the family silver be sold to repair it.
Unlike Range Rovers.
Enjoyed the video as always.
Couldn't agree more.
I brought a 2010 auto one as a temporary hack, ended up with it for a year. (Joys of working through Covid) Averaged 48 mpg over 35K (Diff lock is surprisingly good) Weirdest thing was a horrific whine that a few garages insisted was a knackered transfer box that would be £1500+ to fix, it was a wheel bearing..
Where did you bring it to?
@David Lister what do you mean? Bring it too?
@@chrisw3771 I'm assuming he meant what mechanics did you take it to that would have charged that much/misdiagnosed
@@raulgal2261 Makes sense. 2 independents & a Nissan main dealer. I found on a forum someone had the same symptoms & found it to be a wheel bearing, (forget which side). I just had it changed as a cheaper option to try. It was the bearing even though it didn't have any normal wheel bearing symptoms
Throughout nearly all of the video I was thinking you should retail it. It has scrubbed up well and if you could get hold of the service history then it'd definitely be worth £2k+. Be interesting to see what your mechanic says, was the last mot done honestly and genuinely, has all of the advisories really been addressed?! Great video Matt.
Would retail it, what with the bad weather we have had and we aren't out of it yet, folks in rural areas near yours are looking for that optional four wheel drive facility, that and the large pack of extras that comes with it... Leather seats that aren't ripped, a massive sun roof, Heated seats, Nice alloys, Front fog lights and all the buttons at your finger tips fitted to the steering wheel....and of course a CLEAN M.O.T. but it depends on what your Mechanic sees...looking forward to the next upload on same.
Sorry, didn't read your comments before mine, similar sort of thought process as my daughter lives rurally and an economical 4x4 is always a nice to have.
Hi Matt. I'd be tempted to wait 'til your mechanic has given it the once over (you're only waiting a day or two) If it's good news retail it....if it's not then move it along in the trade. It actually looks/sounds ok and a cheap 4x4 in your area might be just the job for someone. At the moment it's not owing you much, though I'd stick a new battery in it to avoid the obvious disastrous failure to start. Please let us know on here how it goes. Thanks for all this year's fascinating videos. Every good wish for the New Year, hope it's a good 'un for you. Cheers Roj.
@@rogergowers4415 I would agree. See what your mechanic makes of it then decide based on the condition.
Your monologue in the first few minutes was spot on. My partner has a 2009 Qashqai and yes, if left to her own devices it would be neglected and unserviced. However I'm a pizza delivery driver and often use the Nissan (was an IT pro for 30 years before that so no should have done better at school jokes necessary) and love the high position where I can just slide out, whereas when in my Mazda 2 and my 51 year old dodgy knees, I tend to fall out as opposed to climb out. Therefore I look after it, check all the fluids and other necessaries and it's running superbly, doesn't smell of stale milk and doesn't look like a self moving dumpster.
I like the style of this car inside! We don't have these in America.
"Chocolate & Feaces" had me 🤣 Shared it in a group and everyone is still laughing. Loving it Matt!!
Hopefully Matt will keep his secrets to himself in terms of how he tells the 2 apart...
My daughter-in-law has a lot newer one and your description of the owners is so accurate especially the bit about McDonalds! The car is quite nice to drive, but I wouldn't buy one. I've just changed an injector for her...the dealer wanted about £430 just for the injector. I bought a genuine part from a diesel specialist for £193. Beware the Nissan dealers will rip you off!! I'd be concerned that the car failed an MOT on rear chassis rust as Nissan is Japanese for rust.
Hello mate! Honestly it looks WAY better after the valet and nothing looks really wrong bar the window switch cluster at the front. Otherwise it looks pretty sorted and being the more desirable 4WD 2.0 dCi model I'd do it up and sell it for the 2.5K it commands as the investment required to turn it around is minimal both cost and time-wise.
your opening monologue about the Qashqai's life is the most shocking monologue since the Trainspotting intro, Matt
Honestly, it looks good, apparently drives quite well, and leaves a generally good impression. Provided that the car wash has made the nicotine smell disappear, a small service and an MOT checkup could put You at 1700-1800£ and a good nights sleep, and still get it sold fast.
I 100% agree.
Brilliant Story on the Trading up and then Trading out of the Quasqai, felt like we were with you!
I think you answered what to do yourself, whatever delivers the most and quickest contribution to the overheads.
I have a Qashqai 1.5TDI 2019, they've come a long way! I will be swapping it for a Volvo xc40 EV soon but it's incredible to be honest. It can do 74mpg day to day 67.4mpg on the motorway and it has everything on it. More spec than the Volvo I'll be replacing it with to be honest.
I have to agree, I can fault mine on a few things but economy isn't one of them....
Always interesting to see your thought processes Matt and how you prepare a car for re-sale. Very helpful. Thank you.
My pleasure!
Is it bad that my favourite part of your videos are how hard you roast the previous owners... lol
😂 mine too
A fine example of English craftsmanship. Built by artisan lads in Sunderland. Nearly everyone who works at Nissan has one under their workers' discount scheme , so you see loads of them on the roads of the North East. I'd never buy one as I'm more of a 'luxobarge' type of fella, but I know loads of people who would jump at the chance of a cheap workhorse/kiddycarrier like that. Actually one of my favourite videos as I think you slowly fell in love with it haha. I'd flog it retail myself, should make £2K+ every day of the week, but I'm not the one on the other end of a phone dealing with someone complaining the second a wiper starts to judder. Good luck with that fella.
Hahaha yes exactly
Lol I had someone call me 5 months later and complained that the radio has stopped working 🤣
probably the worst car to come out of Sunderland Bluebirds Primera's K11 Micra's and Almera's are proper Nissans and will go forever
@@ChrisJames-pq6gg yep, my missus has one, money pit and for all intents and purposes it's a bloody Renault.
@@sambrooks7862 Which is the main reason why get even more 🐶💩 as they get older!
Would love to see updates on all your cheap cars! Shame we never get to see the outcome in the end
I sometimes wonder if the previous owners of these trade-ins ever stumble across your videos of their old car - I’d love to see their reactions as you maul their life-choices, hygiene standards and taste - they must move from surprise, indignation and anger through to acknowledgement that yes, their car was disgusting as they retreat behind the sofa😂
arrgh just what I was thinking LOL
Epic 🤣🤣 nice one 👍👍
My cars are always washed and well vacuumed out before they are passed on. If you don't do this don't moan if someone says something about it.
@@chrishart8548 100% agree, don't go crying if someone calls you a "dirty scratter" if you DO act like a dirty scratter! It's just the truth hitting home!
If Matt's mechanic finds a lot of parts & labour went into getting this Qashqai through its last MOT, then surely the question of how to dispose of it is easily answered? The clues are the wiper blades, the four good, matching tyres and the fact that all the electrical stuff seems to work, apart from one window switch. The spec. is desirable, and it looks good after its 30-pound valet. Retail it, count da money, and keep your fingers crossed!
Working in a garage for years I can confirm your Nissan qashqai (cashcow) stereotype is scarily 110% correct! 😂
I’ve lost count of the qashqais I’ve had like this
If I was you Mat, I'd retail it because I believe there isn't much that could go wrong with it in the next year seeing that it has had most of the work done to it to get it to where it is now.
If I’m ever having a rough day, I think ‘we’ll at least I’m not the valet for Matt at High Peak Auto! Man, they earn their $$$😂
The rant at the start is the stuff of legends.
The thing about the car wash is so true though, on the rare occasion I drop off my car at the local wash I do get remonstrated if it’s pretty filthy. But isn’t that the point? They sometimes act like they expect you to give it a bit of a clean before dropping it off 😅
Big fan of your channel and your tirade against Qashqai drivers was just perfect (and yes I have met a few!), they have no interest in cars beyond getting to a supermarket and MacDonald's keep up the great work!
The car you detest with all your being!🤣🤣🤣
Yeah if only it was an actually good car like a Juke for example
@@MCTogsI think it depends on your opinion. I personally hate Juke's design
"Remapped it bro" cracked me up 😂. It's not a bad motor to be fair.
I'd likely take a risk, have it serviced and pre MOT'd to get double the money in total out of it. Either way, you're not losing money on it.
If my mechanics were open I'd have got it up on a ramp before making a decision but they're closed for the holidays
Cracked me up too! But on a serious note - how can you tell if it has been remapped?
@@stephenhulbert3500 Normally it has a lot more power than your expect. If I'm not mistaken when remapping, you also get more efficiency out of the engine.
@@stephenhulbert3500 it will broaden the torque curve so you will feel it pull from lower down and higher up the rev range as well as more power in general.
love how you describe the sort of owners they have! down here in devon i find its all oldies driving them!
Totally agree with you about steering wheel covers, those seatbelt things and wind deflectors...horrible things
they aren't always wind deflectors - In Australia, in Feb it's 30 deg C ... almost every day ... and sudden severe rain is a regular occurence. If you park your car outside for a few hours it can be over 55 degrees inside when you get back in - where if you leave the windows cracked the worst of the heat can escape BUT that means you may come back to a soaked car (if it poured rain) with these you can leave the window cracked , discretely
@@arbee1958 how about all the nasty australian critters that would creep inside the car if you left windows open though? See still a bad thing. I'd rather deal with the heat than any potential pocket sized monstrosity making its home inside the cabin.
@@arbee1958 when they were in fashion in New Zealand, we called them “monsoon windows”.
NZ allows second hand cars to be imported from Japan, and the Japanese are apparently very fond of their “monsoon windows”.
I love wind deflectors. Means you can have the windows down when raining to let cool air in.
@@khelgarironfist3301 LOL we squish them with our thumbs !
I've played the opening 2 minutes, three times! Brilliant.
Very accurate review 🤣 The vibration is coming from the drivers side door pocket. Funny how they ALL have the exact same faults. The well maintained ones do drive quite well to be fair.
The qashqai is the modern astramax. Despite not being made for speed, they scream along in the fast lane of any dual carriageway or motorway. They are driven like someone escaping from a bank heist. Great video super funny 😂
Regarding the seat belt cover:
My mum has one of those. I hate it myself but she's getting up there in age and she's quite thin so the seat belt cuts literally into her while driving.
She was putting a scarf between herself and the seat belt but that can be quite unsafe when you're driving and it get's entangled in your arm when steering.
So as much as it pains me those seat belt covers are the better alternative.
Fair enough
Yep I had to buy a set as the belt was faulty and wouldn't retract if it had wound all the way back so had to put one of these pads on it to keep it half out!
Qashqai are awesome, its like a small car but bigger, its simple unlike the big brand crossovers that are over priced petrol guzzlers.
We had 2 of these (my wife still wants us to have a 3rd)
Both from available car.
First was a 13 plate 1.6dci tekna.
Did everything well (especially after a remap and having the steering wheel recovered and made fatter by Royal steering wheels ) but nissan didn't think about the cabin at night, sod all illumination other than the window switches. I fitted 2 modules,1 to auto fold the mirrors when locked (fitted as standard on our later 16 plate) and 1 that allows auto closing/ opening of the windows from the key fob when locked (again fitted by the factory on our 16 plate).
Then we had a 16 plate 1.5 dci tekna, much nicer interior (but the same nav screen) ability to park itself (if you had te to push all the buttons)
Tyres (while we didn't need any) we're expensive as they are not a popular size.
In summery, a car that does everything just well enough, and the raised seat high is nice for loading kid seats and oap's into it.
Terrible cars, the entire segment really. Cant go off road with that fake fwd based 4wd, wouldnt trust it in snow either. Interior space of a Renault Megane, built by Renault too so no Japanese quality. Tall so worse cornering while using more fuel. The only "pro" would be raised seats to load crotch goblins faster, but is bending over so hard are you 80?
I understand that women like these because big=killing the other driver not themself, but its not even big just bulbous. A husband should explain these things...
Everytime you send me through a range of emotion....generalizing owners of certain cars, the the A45 popped up and then I realised....you're right lol.
Every video without fail. Keep it up.
Chloe and Radcliffe with their chocolate and faeces on the back seat. Must be a car from Royston Vasey 😊
nissan hi-tech from sunderland here, [where they make them, might of even PDI'd it] - you got everything 101% right on the punters who have them. half of those CDs will have been off a previous punter, mummy just loaded her disney on top of them, far too complicated to remove originals, bless. it will have a minor oil leak on the timing chain cover, duff glowplugs, no AC, bottom arm bushes will be split, + the ARB links will be fooked. also, they like a seized caliper, worn TR ends, corroded rear arms + hlamp/sidelamp bulbs
they usually get mapped out to ditch the DPF, [taken off + drilled through]
for a car salesman, you are all right...
- Buys fully loaded car for much cheaper than anyone else could.
- Complains about it not being cleaned.
- Pays immigrants £30 to clean it.
- Sells it for atleast double the money.
- provides entertainment for 245,000 people.
We all know how much Matt loves these cars and definitely doesn’t wish they were all bmw 320d estates
Great Vid Mat, you're spot on about the Qashqai, my sister-in-law has one and sure enough it's used as a child and dog taxi and hasn't been cleaned since it was purchased. 👍

Mat you've been my favourite you tuber throughout 2022. Loved your content always interesting and I've loved your project cars you've had on the chanel. Can't wait to see whats in store for the chanel in 2023
I brought a nissan qashqai 2 weeks ago come from a 1ltr seat ibiza to this best 66 plate fully nissan service history 1.6 dci 160 bhp lovely car
I find these videos very interesting, keep up the great work Matt.
Thanks, will do!
Matts reviews are getting to be Oscar standard!! There very informative, but his dry humour and quips are top class!!
Can’t wait for the day you have kids, Matt! We’ll see how clean you manage to keep your cars then 😂
Certainly a bit harder to keep nice with a family, but I have found keeping clean as you go, not allowing any trash, rarely allowing food and a good thorough clean yourself every few months keeps a car nice and motivates decent maintenance
I keep on top of ours, shame I can’t say the same for the wife!
@@haichyou2930 same with mine. She can't use a car without leaving trash in it
I've got a 9 year old son and my cars are always spotless inside. I just quickly go around the car every few days with a hand held dyson and damp cloth. Otherwise his bogey collection gets out of hand 😂
Kids wreck em , mine've left all sorts on the seats and carpets in cars over the years.... I'm not obsessive enough to be constantly cleaning anymore..
It's beeping because J10 Qashqais have a two staged switch off key position. Unless you are in stage two it will be beeping every time you open the door :)
Definitely have a crack at retailing it for at least 2k. I'm sure there are loads of folks out there looking for something cheap, big enough for a couple of kids and don't really care what it looks like. Might well end up being someone who's previous Qashqai finally packed up and now they want a straight replacement!
It's a 2k car any day. Would be ideal for pulling a small boat, single horsebox or someone with dogs going to the beach. Clutch on qashqai diesels have a ton of vibration but still do 250k without replacement but if not serviced the turbos go. the diesels can do 500k. They are a really reliable work horse and deserve a bit more credit than they get. They were designed and built in the UK and they're pretty reliable, something that's not usually said in the same sentence. Had one and would buy another (diesel only).
Matt. That was one of the funniest starts to a video, you always make me laugh out loud at the best of times but your description of a Qashqai owner was spot on. I agree with other I would retail it as long as it checks out the sub £5k sector in these hard times is very profitable. Anyway good luck with it and thanks for all the output this year its been a pleasure to watch.
I'm honestly impressed that you enter these cars without disposable gloves
Loved the vid - personally, I'd trade it. With Qashqai's, there's probably going to be some unknown issue that once you find, it's going to blow your budget. Slightly off-topic, I've just noticed the big Nissan 4X4 thing has gone from its place where you film. Was there an update video to that? if not, what was the end result?
This car is worthy of a ''Medium Peak Auto'' rating. Not a high peak, but not a low peak. Retail it and happy 2023!
dont know why i need to know whether you retailed or traded on a 2008 Qashqai but... - i need to know!
I traded it in the end
I love how you use your sponsor in your videos. most youtubers are like... heres my sponsor RAID SHADOW LEGENDS , ill pretend to be interest, and back to the video. But you can actually really use it usefully. Kudos my dude
Thanks
Great video as always, its certainly the best Qashqai I've ever seen. At 2500 it'd make quite a good cheap workhorse for someone to use for the next couple of years, and has a few genuinely nice luxuries, it'll be semi reliable, being a Nissan, and being a Nissan it will be fairly cheap to run. good car for the likes of a builder or someone similar who needs a cheap practical workhorse to get him to and from work, and a car that doesn't matter if its always dirty or gets scuffed up.
It's a Nissan with a Renault engine so I would question the reliability. That said Renault diesels are pretty decent.
@@jdmguy44 ah is that the renault engine is it? Fair enough, renault diesels are okay, and they will be fairly cheap to fix when they do break.
That intro was elite 👌 😂 ive got a 12 plate 1.5dci i bought as *tide over* car, 4 years later its still my daily, its only wanted a couple tyres, ball joints and an engine mount, brilliant little plod along

I’d have that for £1250. Ideal with a carrier for running up the mountain bike trails.
exactly- perfect for that
It's sell in a flash at that price,£1,500 was my thought.
..and what followed was one of the best rants I have ever heard. Sublime.
Best intro you've done so far. 100% true and had me laughing in the living room. To be fair most cars in the UK are treated this way.
P.s. move it on in the trade. Selling it will just mean some cheapskate new owner hassles you 2 days later about a fault it will inevitably develop.
I don’t purposely make them offensive but I’m also very honest.
Outstanding work!
Thank you! Cheers!
Just had a thought: if you suspect soft tyres, should you check pressure and pump them up before going for test drive? In fact, next time I look at a car, I think I will take a pressure guage and pump with me both to be legally in charge of a vehicle and to put the vendor on a bit of back foot. Thanks for the tip, even if it was by implication from what you expected of a Qashqai
A car as interesting as a wheeled washing machine yet you still manage to create twenty six minutes of content that kept me watching until the end!
Thanks!
Retail, no further thought required. I’ve just had a newer one on my drive for tailgate repair. It’s now gone off and will get £4k with 110k on clock, clean MOT and fresh service. It too was exactly as you described in the first few minutes.
I've never owned a Qashqai myself but I have to say I think the latest model looks genuinely good for a mid size SUV and better than some rivals. There's quite a few of them on the roads now. It sounds like a lot of your hate towards the Qashqai seems to relate more to the the folk who buy them than the car itself!
Never mind car sales, that opening monologue could be your one man show! Fantastic.....
Matt, I’m unsure if you see this comment with it being an older video but I’m the young lad I was saying just passed test needed a big car for dj stuff insurance prices are through the roof. It's Monday morning still in bed and doing bit of research on NQ as I see them everywhere. Love cars and having dad and two brothers we love our cars going back to Volvo 240 and Datsun 280z which we 4 kids learned on. Presenter is sarcastically funny yet informative😅 Will definitely subscribe for the laughs above all else. Have Volvo V40 now and miss sitting up high on my Toyota 4x4 quad pickup. Ex pat of 19 years in good ol' England. Great video. Will definitely save it👍🏻
I'd retail it. Get the most out of her. You could list it for around 2200. Negotiate down to 2000. Compared to about 1200. That's too much money to leave on the table.
Spot on, literally called me out as a QASHQAI owner - gaffer tape on the boot lid, mate of a mate sorted MOT, kids destroyed it - feel violated
Another good one.. this year especially you'll see only the cheap cars selling if any at all.. qashqais always sell well..
Well i love a man who keeps a bit of extra power in the boot of his car just in case he needs it for those emergency situations well done Matt go for the most profit and take the tow ball off . Great video
Tow balls can save a great deal of damage if rear ended, but your kneecaps will hate you lol
Love the opening 2-minute grump. Outstanding.
Only Matt gets me excited about an 800 quid Qashqai
I’m a smoker and I’d never smoke in my car there’s nothing worse than getting into a car that’s been smoked in
The 2.0dci is pretty bulletproof motor I had a 1.9dci in my Suzuki gv and it was super reliable.
We’ve got one of these qashqai’s but not as high spec, its a dark grey 2007 model and lets say it definitely fit the stereotype… The MOT history has been an absolute state on the thing and it failed about 4 years in a row with the previous owner. Luckily for my dad he’s took good care of it, it cleaned up nicely, not had an advisory in 2-3 years and as an 18 year old, i don’t leave maccies stains on his rear seats.
Just what the wife needs in a few months time. It opened her eyes to something different. On a different note. I now understand the difference. When you say decent wipers. As I’ve just spent £30 on front and rear Bosch wipers for my Rav.
….. and I can now hear my diesel engine while the wipers are working.
Haha they do make a difference
Retail it Matt it’s a tidy motor (as long as the turbo doesn’t give up any time soon) all the best for 2023 and keep-um coming 😀👍🏻
Looking at it after it's been cleaned, It's a huge improvement. And if your mechanic gives it a clean bill of health, I was say retail it, I think you would get £2,500 easy.
Spot on description of the owners
Retail it Matt! - Nissans on the whole are good car's, and no driving issues with this one.
Best previous owner rant ever!
As a dealer, I'd take off that hideous tow bar and sell it as it is. As a car enthusiast, I'd have it crushed. Happy New Year, Matt - keep the vids coming in 2023.
