- DreamcastGuy Claims that Call of Duty Black Ops 6 (Gulf War) Launching Day One on Release Date in Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will not only kill Game Pass, but also destroy the Xbox Console & Xbox Brand forcing Microsoft to quit the gaming industry.
A Recent report released revealing the upcoming Call of Duty Black Ops 6 (V, Gulf War, etc...) will be launching day and date on day one in Xbox Game Pass for the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC as one would expect for a Microsoft published 1st Party Xbox Game in 2024. however, this marks the first time since the Activision Blizzard acquisition by Microsoft that a game would be launching in Game Pass from the publisher and is the only game currently in Game Pass from Activision aside from Diablo IV. This report contradicts an earlier report that the game might be skipping gamepass in favor of racking up more sales revenue being sold seperately but in this instance Phil Spencer and Co. actually appear to have kept their word about Call of Duty releasing in Game Pass. This news comes just weeks ahead of the highly anticipated Xbox Summer Showcase/Direct and as news for Xbox (and sales of the consoles) have reached new all time lows. It is nice to get some positive news for a change rather than the typical "Xbox is Dead", "Xbox is Dying", or Xbox is bad news in general. Of course controversial GAMING commentator and known liar Dreamcastguy decided to jump in on the news and well you can probably guess how that went...

They arguably don't need to focus on selling COD on Xbox. It's Steam and PlayStation where they're going to make the most money from sales. And bringing new subscribers to Game Pass on any device that supports the service. They're betting on millions of people deciding to pick the subscription. Particularly the younger and upcoming generation of gamers who mostly access games digitally.
I think they will keep the price where it is this year and use call of duty to try and drive up subs before raising the price. No sense in pricing people out before boosting the subs

Gamepass in 2020 had 10 mil subscribers as of may 2024 it has 34 mil subscribers. that is a 3.4x. So you can say it grows each year with good numbers.
Well if it does end up happening like that, they only have themselves to blame. They know people don't like the recent decisions they've made, they just don't care.
Here’s my (somewhat reaching) prediction: gamepass ultimate goes to $20. Cod base version goes to gamepass, possibly only the ultimate tier. They then have a premium tier at $25 and it includes highest edition of cod, WoW monthly sub, and the gold/ultimate edition of their other first party games. Gamepass only offering base editions and then selling deluxe upgrades is kind of wonky. Itd be better to just offer another tier imo.

I think there gone do a call of duty tear where you get all new and old cods for like 7.99 a month and the odd battle pass for free on stuff and then they add the odd really popular game every once and a while. ultimate will go up to like 20 dollars per month so you can have everything. i would like it know 240 is about 3.5 games a year at 70 a game

If Starfield from last year was able to pull in some big numbers for Game Pass last year, I don't doubt the same could be done with the latest Call of Duty for this year. And as much as I despise 'Caw uh Dooty', I wouldn't be surprised if the newest entry pushes Game Pass subscriptions either.
I mean, the average consumer would more than likely see it as a better convenience to get Game Pass for the annual Caca of Doodie and Madden/Fifa with the added bonus of more games to play at the ready then having to pay $70 a year for a copy that's resale value has dwindled by the first month.
The thing is people don't see "Call of duty" the franchise coming to gamepass. That's what I believe will draw numbers, especially if a separate tier of gamepass dedicated to call of duty (which has enough of a library to fill out as a subscription service) can be applied to all systems, like pc Xbox and Playstation.
I would just hope more people wouldn't be too gullible to fall for gamepass , such anti consumer trash

I'm on the fence with Call of Duty. Sometimes I buy it, sometimes I don't. I think Gamepass will get a lot of people like me playing where I otherwise would probably skip it. I tend to spend money on microtransactions as I'm almost 40 and want to enjoy my free time however I want.
they will still have, what, 10 or 12m sales on ps5? that alone is 840m.. not counting steam and dlc, plus streaming services. They will still make a shit ton of money on sales. They may lose some on the GP side in initial sales, but they are betting on back end makeup for it. xbox sells 5m cod from what I read.. but as a GP sub, I will be spending the $$ I would have spent on the game on DLC instead.

Xbox has been losing money for years. Microsoft just spent close to 80 billion on two publishers, and they recently closed 3 and merged one studio.
Microsoft may be making tons of money from Windows and services, but that doesn't mean they want to keep losing money forever.

The people that play cod will buy cod full price. Hell alot of these idiots will spend 100s of dollars on the specials edition and skins within the year every year.
Its the FPS Madden. People will buy it regardless. This just opens up the gateway for people like my friends who refuse to buy it that they can try each new cod and not spend a shit ton on a experience they do not like. It only ADDS more players into the mix. Not decrease.
Game pass on windows mostly works in most of the first world developed countries. even if microsoft tries they could not do a long term business in other areas. first the lack of diverse payment system. only having visa, mastercard and that too some times it does not accept debit card. only credit card. second their lack of xcloud service and this is understandable. 3rd is they are still tying their xbox app into microsoft store app. and that store app is beyond infuriating to operate because for many silly unknown reasons it breaks resulting in not having updates to xbox app.
xbox need to streamline this and have their app independent of MS store. we used to get xbox app exe file from xbox web page and not through store and this is what xbox app used to redirect to for the download. Also i do thing non activated windows could have a lot of issues regarding signups and such making whole xbox app on desktop not having a wide enough reach.
I personally think gamepass is under priced as it is, not that I'm complaining.
With another price increase I’m really starting to wonder who the fuck game pass is even aimed at here, like if I’m someone invested enough to waste 20$+ a month wouldn’t I just be buying the games I want? Not to mention gp basically stopped getting day 1s for awhile now cept a few indies, I could maybe see if we were still getting things like outriders launching day 1 but the last thing I played that was a day 1 was palworld ( and I bought that on steam after trying it)

Wow regardless of it becoming a joke with retail. I stopped at cata. Will bring a butt load of people to gamepass. It may even boost sales if it runs smooth on console. Then with cod I'm sure me and multiple others are not down to pay 20-40$ for cod games that came out 10+ years ago. So having them on gamepass is beautiful. Just hope they all get online capability. Gamepass has nhl 24, mlb 24, madden 24, all fallouts, gears, halo, dead island 2, day 1 releases like starfield, hellblade 2, avowed, stalker 2, indiana jones, all cods coming as well, dude as a gamer how can you dislike that? I think what dreamcastguy fails to notice between the difference between a subscription service and the full game is that if mircosoft decides to one day just cut off the option of allowing gaming to pay full price to play the games they could quite easily say that "oh yes were now putting everything on gamepass and its now the only way you can play our games but its only for 20 or more pounds a month".
in a company stand point them getting shot of the xbox console production line and then scrapping the one time purchase (should they ever do that) that effectly keeps mircosoft in a good standing when it still got millions of gamepass users that are generating mircosoft a huge net sum every month apposed to one time purchasing of games and mircosoft hardware.
in logical stand point keeping the production of xbox consoles doesn't reall generate as much money as they want now and it be only a matter of time before gamepass sales surpasses the cosole sales (if they haven't done so already).
plus like you said griffian if mircosoft is in dire straights it can always sell its publishers and game companies to other services in order to rake in the money and in this day in age every company wants a slice of gaming pie.

Another point to expanding their PC user base for Game Pass would be bundling a World of Warcraft subscription. Like WOW isn't as huge as it was in the 2000s, but it still has a sizeable player base.

What I have a feeling that Microsoft will eventually do is nix launching first-party games day-and-date on Game Pass and put them on 6-12 months later after the games have reached peak sales. I see them doing this at the start of the next console generation. But I do think they will continue to work out deals with third-party and Indie studios to have those games day-and-date to give people the incentive to play on the Xbox ecosystem. Kinda like how Sony pays studios to have game exclusively on Playstation.

They apparently are, but games like Bo2 need major fixes. Bo2 in particular suffers from mod menus built into the theatre mode on the game, you just need to watch a 30 second clip and have full free access to mods, everyone on the game can do this at any time. The game is barely playable, Microsoft need to fix that before adding it to GP.

So to say that putting COD on Gamepass would result in it being one of the lowest selling (perhaps since MW at least) games in the series. This is also on top of the fact the market is already declining for games overall, inflation putting more pressure on people's ability to buy games, and the fact the last few CODs underperformed, it's not a totally unreasonable prediction from Dreamcast Guy. Only issue with PC is the steam store. If game pass access works with steam that would boost numbers. But selling it on steam and on Xbox app via game pass will not bring in the numbers imo.
