Oh I remember the days I studied there....Leiden is really a nice place and it’s still my regret I had to leave earlier than I expected because of the pandemic....I just hope the world is gonna be better. Thanks for the nice video!
Loved The Adventure & Leiden. Totally agree with your reference about movies. To me appeared to me as something straight out of disney movies. Thank you for such a wonderful trip 😊👌
Nice video! We LOVED Leiden!! When you first entered the town from the train station the Windmill you see across the canal was one of our favorite stops, great views of Leiden from the top.
6:03. That's why there's stickers and many colours of locks and such for. Also, we learn that when we go to school, especially as teenagers when there's literally about thousand if not thousands of bicycles and one of them is yours. :)
That wasn't actually the University! The Leiden University has different faculties all across the city. The one you filmed is the Academy building which is almost solely used for formalities such as ceremonies and congresses. It's a beautiful building! Around the corner (you were so close) is the Leiden Law faculty. This used to be the science faculty and this was the place Einstein has worked for a while! :)
Reminds me to Groningen that also has the faculties scattered all over the city. I did an internship project over there and had to move between different faculties a lot to meet with certain people. And i actually liked that. Walking for a few minutes and getting some fresh air after hours of sitting on my ass. I liked it better then those huge all in one buildings these days.
Cool Carlos! Nice trip, too bad you couldn’t visit the museums there. They have some amazing ones like Naturalis, Volkenkunde, Lakenhal and Rijksmuseum van Oudheden. Also there is a very cool cafe called De Waag. It used to be a central building to weigh produce in the 17th century. It has a modern section and an old part with many arches. Also you can visit some old inner gardens called “hofjes”. Haarlem has many too. You can visit for free. You’ll love it!
Carlos, Wishing You a Happy Thanksgiving day. You need to give us a review of their Turkey Feast or something similar.. Here is what I learned, in Leiden, the connection is still strong enough that every year, on the day of American Thanksgiving, people gather in a 900-year old church known as to celebrate the perseverance and good fortunes of the early American settlers.
12:26 that university building was a chapel before. the monastary was on the other side of the canal. it was build in 1516. yep correct the first protestant university Leiden had some famous theologians like Gomarus and Arminius,
If you wanna visit the least Dutch city in the Netherlands you should visit Maastricht, all the way in the South. And when your in Maastricht it's also worth your while to take bus 57 to Gulpen. It's almost a rollercoaster ride with some amazing views.
Right. So I see, you did found our Dutch version of Indonesian food. Like I said, you can find saté in pretty much every decent town in the Netherlands. Actually? I found it just across the border recently in Belgium as well.
Us from Leiden are crying for what we have become. We are still, quiet, empty, closed up. Scared. Maybe 10% of the normal amount of people are on the streets and half the marketstalls are forbidden.
The crispy things on top are fried onions which make it look crispy. Indonesian food in the Netherlands is served with fried onions, coconut shavings, peanuts, prawn crackers, etc.
Lost of love from India 🇮🇳 bro you are very hardworking person and traveling lover 😍❤️so I am very enjoyed to see this video 🌟 and my mouth is watering to see this chicken lollipop 🤤😅👍 anyway keep growing 👍

My first thoughts seeing this video in notification was "Has this city got something to do with Factor V Leiden!!!" Yes it does! Thanks #VolpeTheLegend 😎
The university was founded by William of Orange, to reward the city from resisting a siege by the Spanish in the 80 years war. The lifting of the siege is still celebrated every year, it's called Leids Ontzet. Maybe you'd like to visit during those days, it's great if you don't mind crowds of drunk people ;D en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3_October_Festival
It is necessary as the service industry is struggling to survive right now. I constantly buy overpriced food and beers at the moment to support the local service industry, it's the right thing to do.
