I love your tips man, I’m new to all this music production stuff and every single question I’ve had you’ve answered. Love your workflow tips, music sampling tips, basic logic x shortcuts and just how to stay creative. Keep it up !!
Don’t use splice. Legowelt has a collection of actual Casio samples almost every Casio from 80’s 90’s and Chicago house drum kit. You need to learn how to work with and understand instruments. Splice is for lazy ppl who want to make background UA-cam music
@@CharlesCleyn worked nicely. Was able to get a drum beat together without ripping off the entire loop 😊. Thanks for the tips and always good tutorials.
On the 4th minute it's worth mentioning you can rely on music theory and try for instance that Cmajor sounds onto this Em as Em is part of the key of Cmaj
Wondering if you have a video explaining splicing - using GB. What I mean is a musical phrase with a mistake, then removing a section and splicing together A to B. I am not doing it correctly, so I get a "pop." Thanks.
You mean splitting up a drum loop in drum machine designer? You can't split but if your question is just about loading drum loops into the DMD, then yes, you totally can.
Hi Charles great video however I'm not getting any audio from the loop when I drop it into the track on Logic - I find I need to assign a sound to it and it doesn't match the sound I hear for the loop in Splice - how do I fix this? Thank you
hey charles, great video! I'm a total beginner so this is exactly the step by step I was looking for. What type of music production software do you recommend for Windows? Preferably since I'm just starting out and want to get the hang of things before paying...
Hey Hazel, if you're just beginning, I would suggest taking a look at the Scarlett interfaces but if you want something a bit more pro you can look at the Apogee, Audient, or Apollo interfaces.
Hi there; who would you recommend to watch on UA-cam to teach piano for free. Because whenever I see a possible good teacher on UA-cam, I get hit by a paywall and can’t learn the next part of certain songs. However I genuinely would want to learn so could you help me?
I think youtube is a great resource to learn an instrument for free but if you have the luxury of getting an in-person teacher then I would highly suggest it!
i sub for a while, get a bunch of sounds, save them to external drive and unsub, organize them with something like cosmos, i usually get a bunch of drums instruments soundscapes oneshots and textural loops and ill pull from them in a pinch. with loops i always layer them, and I never sell songs as exclusive licenses if the original loop is remotely discernible. ive been working through my last splice haul for years and years
Here is another tip on making a song with splice: don't. You gonna pay the subscription, you gonna download a few samples, someday you stop your subscription and they will take away the possibility of downloading the samples you already paid for to force you into resubscribing. Don't support these shady company strategies.
@@CharlesCleyn well yeah it does. They even tell you in their faq. Just search their support page for "what should I do if my sounds fail to download". First sentence in the article: "note that an active subscription is required to re-download your samples". And that is truly bold scam
They have charged me again for loops I didn't realize I already had and only got a "We're sorry for the problems you're having" 😢. I download all loops on phone then transfer to computer so that doesn't happen.
Ok I have a bone to pick. You’re probably a nice person but let me explain something to you. These samples are all over produced and has tricked a bunch of idiots I know into thinking they can become lazy ass producers which is insulting af. I’ve tried splice since it came out just to see what it was all samples unusable due to how overproduced they are. Stop trying to turn ableton into the unity assets store. This is why music sucks now. If you want to make track for fortnite radio use splice but real producers make their own samples or hunt for them and then midi map they aren’t using...splice.
I disagree with you. Music is about a feeling. It doesn't matter if you use Logic, Ableton, Pro Tools. It also doesn't matter if you use Splice, Output, Wavs, or create your own samples from scratch. The key point here is: everything is fair game. The goal is to write songs that create emotional reactions. To create a masterpieces. The road to that goal, is up to you.
@@CharlesCleyn the problem with way you do it is future issues with copyrights. everyone is using the same loops and not flipping them. so he is right its lazy producing for most who use splice this way with melodies.

Splice seems so overwhelming and don’t know where to start so thanks for breaking it down and helping me actually use splice to make music.

Hey Kate, for windows you could try out audacity which is free but Ableton, FL Studio, and Pro Tools are all really solid paid options as well.

Dude, that Bass sound sick. Is it a build in VST in Logic or can we buy it online. That would be nice to know :)
thanks jan, this bass is from trillian, it's a paid VST by Spectrasonics but Logic has few great stock ones that sound pretty similar.
