- Hey guys,
I realised that some of the things I do daily on Splice aren't always super obvious, so I wanted to do a quick video of 5 'secrets' (That aren't really secrets) that will help you use splice better and more smoothly.
Splice costs about £6.50 a month, and is a must have for anybody producing music day to day.
Grab it here: splice.com/vip/adam_growley

One thing that sucks is that if you stop paying, you loose all of your accumulated credits. I feel like it would be better if it was less subscription service and more a straight pay for credits and use them whenever type of service. Everyone is goin to subscriptions and I have so many of them that every once in a while I will clean them up and Splice usually is one that gets cut.
Definitely agree with this Aaron. If you have some favourite samples, you could always whack em in a project and bounce them out individually. Not sure where you stand on their T&C's with that though.
I've actually started using less and less Splice these days. Partially for that reason, partially because I want to be using less generic drum sounds. But it is quite freeing!
But i can make a song with the samples and put it on Spotify?
Tip #4 is an amazing one! To go even further with that, learn the words/vocabulary for the sample packs that you already have downloaded that way you can access them easier. For example some packs use the word "riser" and other packs will say "sweep." Knowing which words certain packs use will help you find the sounds you want easier
Absolutely 100% great advice.
Are there anywebsites or cheat sheets for this?
@@AdamRowleygrowley how do I upload my own loops on splice ?
That midi advice is game changer G!! Thank you ^ ^
No stress! Glad it helped!
loved your tips, thanks a lot! ♡
Ahhh Mayara! I'm so glad you liked the video. I havent posted content in a number of months, but maybe I should get back on it! It was a definite lockdown hobby
Thanks for sharing Adam!!
My pleasure!
Amazing Vid Adam. Thanx buddy. Love the way you've put all this together. I actually thought I could use Splice as a plugin in the sense of downloading a 'one hit' sound, adding it to cubase and then being able to play that sound in midi the same way a sound would be sampled and integrated into a daw project. But correct as you said, Splice isnt a VST plugin but hopefully it should be easy to use the sounds as samples. Thanx again. Have a rockin week :D
Very welcome! Glad you liked the vid Steven! It's a fantastic tool for finding different sounds. I use it almost every day :)
Bro iam an established producer from punjab. I have produced a song which got more than 100m views and many more. But lately i was upset about my work. Ur video actually helped me ❤❤❤
I needed this! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful! Got loads more tips I should make some more videos!! haha
I been using splice for 1 year and just now I found out about the MIDI 😭 thanks mate
Of course!
Thanks man! dope info...💯💯
No problem 👍
Super cool ! Thank you !!
Thank you too!
This advice is handy for this Splice virgin. I'm spoiled for choice now after my younger self used to pillage Amiga games' floppy disks for samples.
Amazing, it's such a powerful tool!
This is dope!
Thanks Hey!
Thinking about renewing my splice account I haven’t been really making much music lately and I’ve been in a beat block mode so this definitely might make me renew my splice
definitely worth it even for the oliver packs!!
Thanks, great video.
You're welcome! Glad you liked it.
Great video man!
Thanks Adrian
Appreciate the tips mate!
No problem 👍
@@AdamRowleygrowley I had no idea you could download midi chord progressions. I'm definitely going to have to take a look at this
Very useful! Thanks!
You're welcome!
I didnt know bout the sync sound "secret and midi pack "secret" lol great vid!!!
SHHHH
Great tips yoo! Can you make part 2
I would love to. If I get back into videos, I will
Actually useful!
Hey BT! Thanks! They're simple things but I hope they helped.
Good tips in here bro
Thanks Sidney! They seem obvious when you say them, but I think some beginners get frustrated with Splice when it isnt as good a search engine as google!
Really nice simple video
Thank you 🙂
When I try to add more than two small videos to make one large video, only the first video has picture after that the videos are blacked out with only voice. How can I stop this
Make more vids! You're a top notch instructor! Actually make a series on Logic!
Hahaha thanks Justin! I'm SO busy at the minute, but I'm going to try and get back on UA-cam. Any videos that you're particularly after??
@@AdamRowleygrowley Ha! No probs! Hmmmm let's see, favourite gear, favourite plugs ins, Logic tips and tricks . . .am I asking too much?!?! Go Growley Rowley!
I use Splice for the samples as well, but I mainly use it for backing up my Ableton Live projects. So lately I have been having an issue with syncing my project in Splice. When i'm on the road I use my laptop, and after loading my projects from Splice, I get a message that samples are missing from my project. Any idea how to resolve this issue? I know the samples are there, because if I go back to my desktop and open the project, all the files load.
Heya!
You might have to contact splice on this, as I don't use it for the backup function (I use BackBlaze!).
You might find that it's trying to find samples that you used then deleted... Try:
Deleting unused audio files in Logic
Syncing sounds in Splice
Relinking sounds in splice if that's an option!!
@@AdamRowleygrowley I use Ableton, but ill check out back blaze
@@AdamRowleygrowley Hey Adam, I'm trying to switch to back blaze b2, but I don't where to start. What software do you use in conjunction with back blaze b2?
Does sync sounds work when you are unsubscribed? Or will that kick start your subscription again?
I actually don't know. I doubt it'll start the subscription again, but imagine if you stop being subscribed you'll be locked out.
@@AdamRowleygrowley You aren't locked out of the app, i haven't subscribed for months and still have access to my samples. I reached out to Splice support and they said that if i sync sounds it shouldn't start my subscription again, but i've not tried yet
thank you beast
Glad this helped!
Thank You
You're welcome
How can I down load more than one sound at a time. Example all kicks in a sample pack or all the snare in a pack with out having to do it one at a time?
You can either download the whole pack, or have to do individual sounds. A little annoying I know!
can you copyright your music UA-cam using tune cord with splice loops? also I don't change the loops so how does that work out?
You can change the loops if you want. When you download a splice loop you own the royalties to it. Splice is a copyright free site once you've got the credits :)
@@AdamRowleygrowley thanks do you know splice works for tune core publishing administation and sound exchange. I heard it doesn't for the us postal office
Can i put my songs on Spotify if i use splice samples?
yes lol
Yup! All splice samples are royalty free once you've purchased them
Good tips
Glad it was helpful!
When I try to sign up but every user name that I typed it tells me is taken what can I do in that case?
Probably contact Splice! I'm not sure I'm afraid.
thanks
Welcome ofc
Is there a way to pick more than one sample at a time when buying with credits. I want to buy all the loops from one pack. But the only way to buy them is selecting one at a time. Which is frustrating. Not sure if i am missing something.
You can download the whole pack! Should be a button at the top.
@@AdamRowleygrowleythe only button is the get pack but you only make the purchase you don’t get the download…..
Your house looks amazing, do a tour maybe 😂
Might be my ex girlfriends place eeeesh
@@AdamRowleygrowley Might be? Won't you check for me please. I really want a tour.
Its snaps riser breakdowns impacts riser down those are all the name of those samples in other words it’s music terms I make a lot of thos stuff from scratch and ever since I started making music that is what those names have been presented to me as
Definitely. Learning the vocabulary is crucial
First
BigFan
Using splice on my akai machine that’s fire
I have learned that we have to be aware that splice is the owner of their sounds and can become problematic for copyright infringement and potentially get a lawsuit.
This isn't accurate advice. You buy the usage rights to the sounds by subscribing. Huge charting songs use full splice loops regularly.
How do I download a entire pack in one go
I actually don't know... I rarely do this!
imagine thinking you can cheat while making music lol.
Imagine how much cooler rock and metal would be if the genre opened their minds to stuff like this.
BMTH is the only exception I can think of that breaks this stigma
I mean, I feel like the genre is opening up to the pop sensibilities hugely ! I work with lots of artists that blend the two very well (Charlotte Sands, Hot Milk, PVRIS, Against The Current etc)
Where are the secrets
SHHHHHHHH
So he snapped his fingers and thought it was a click?!
I'm a mere boy 😢
If you call finger snaps clicks, then it's your logic that's weird, not Splice's xD
I've always been told you "click" your fingers. hahah but now you say it you're right.
Saying using Splice is cheating is like saying “using the dictionary is cheating you didn’t study those words”, it’s stupid.
Hahaha agreed! Although it is frustrating when you make a track with a full splice loop then hear it in another song! I always think it's best to chop up splice loops and make them your own.
@@AdamRowleygrowley absolutely I've made quite a few I just want to learn how to manipulate the loops to fit other keys and bpms
The lingo part needs to be improved by splice. They should use more general lingo
Search Engine Optimisation is a really really tough one. Hopefully they slowly improve.
did he call a snap a click lmao. jk, different region, different lingo
subbed btw
Haha thanks man! Apologies. British over here.
So he says 7 and 6 appears on the screen lol
A mere illusion
It's cheating no matter how you spin it.
True. I'm going to make sure next time I want to write a quick little song I'm going to hire a orchestra sized room with an original 60's synth in it to make sure I get the exact sound I want. Thanks for the tip!!!
