@drew leonard because he is good guy with good heart. Chuck is bad selfish guy and Jimmy still cares about him. Jimmy is hard on bad people and scumbags and help good people.
@@xxdavecz3811 he's not that simple a character. He does good things and he does evil things like this. He's a mixture. You can't really be a con merchant and not be somewhat on the evil side. Sometimes Jimmy's evil side comes out. Chuck's not so simple, either. He's mostly bad, but has his good moments too. The show's good because the characters are more interesting than just being on one side or another.
Also, there was just a ton of foreshadowing in several earlier episodes in all three seasons that pointed to a lot of the stuff that happened in these last few episodes. In "Alpine Shepherd Boy"--Kim: "I've thought about getting into elder law myself. I watched my grandmother at the end. It's awful what people have to deal with...Getting old sucks. Seniors need someone on their side."...we later see Jimmy (or Saul as Abi rather astutely points out lol) taking advantage of the elderly for his own gain, and in a rather despicable way. In another episode, we see Kim suddenly wake up behind the wheel of her car after apparently falling asleep, only she's in a parking lot. Here, we see Kim suddenly wake up behind the wheel of her car after apparenetly falling asleep, only this time it's after she crashed into a boulder. In yet another episode we see the lady Mike meets in the group therapy meeting tell him that her husband just disappeared, and how she struggled to gain closure with admitting he's probably dead. In the last episode we see Mike go out and try to find the good Samaritan who discovered the truck driver Mike tied up and left in the desert who ended up being shot in the face by Hector...he didn't want the guy's family to feel what the lady in his therapy group was feeling. In yet another (lol) episode, Jimmy tries to convince Kim to sue HHM after she's put in the basement as a result of Jimmy lying to her. In this episode we see Chuck-- Jimmy's brother-- use that same idea to sue HHM. The writers and creators of this show are at the top of their game.
There is also an example of foreshadowing for Kim’s accident in this very episode, when her car gets stuck. She gets out to push it, and it almost rolls into her client’s property/equipment. I only just realized, upon rewatching the scene here, that that was the purpose of that scene (which seemed to be utterly pointless to me when I first saw it).
The pills Nacho switched out weren't poison, they were placebos. Poison would be detectable in the body so he's waiting for his heart to give out without the medicine it needs.

Just wanted to say that Chuck hasnt been trying to take Jimmy down for years. He was Jimmy's safety net. getting him out of trouble and helping him - even if he was preachy to Jimmy. It wasn't until Jimmy got a law license that he really stepped in in a way that might negatively affect Jimmy, at least in the short term. Jimmy's like a drug addict who keeps relapsing and Chuck is like the family member who has bailed out and helped the addict for years only to watch him get more destructive and adversely affect more people. I like Jimmy and I think Charles got too involved with the recording and stuff but I am also on the outside looking in. I don't know what all he has lived through with Jimmy.
In this episode we see the brothers at their worst. We've cheered Jimmy when he pulls these tricks on people like the music store, but here we see him casually destroy an innocent old lady. For Chuck, he finally crossed his line. What ever you might think of Chuck's actions previously, he's always acted ethically. Stealing Mesa Verde back was mean but it was completely ethical. Setting Jimmy up was shady but stayed within the reach of ethics. But he failed to inform his clients of his compromised mental health condition and refused to accept the consequences. That high ethical bar has been his main guiding star, and you can't violate that and just walk away.

So I just drove back to the last exit and turned around. Passed the place where I’d gone over and it was so torn up and there were big skid marks everywhere. I remember just looking at them thinking, huh. I guess I could have died there. God I’m so glad I survived my youth.
Jimmy ruining that old ladies friendships is the worst thing he's ever done. Yes, i know the weight of that statement. I stand by it. it's just so fucked up.
To a grandmother who is in a nursing home, most of them without talking much to their families ... turning her friends against her was too low. Hate Chuck for hiding his mother's last words, but distancing a grandmother from her only friends just for money ... you crossed a line Jimmy, maybe his brother was right ... (this hurts me more for being a 19 year old that had few friends at school, that that happens to you in a nursing home, with your family far away and at that age... damn Jimmy).
Anyone who watches this episode without feeling completely sad and heartbroken for Irene is simply not a human being. God, that was excruciating. And by some miracle the show kept me from disliking Jimmy, who’s entirely responsible for her scrutiny.
Thanks for questioning the friends. It's true that it's Saul's fault it happens, but also it's sad that her friends go against her so easily, when they could've just had a conversation.
That seen with Kim passing out and then just coming to as she crashed her car was so startling. She's just been working herself too hard. This episode really demonstrated all of Jimmy's worst qualities in the worst ways. You can justify and understand the fucked up shit he's done to other people who fuck with him. But this old lady didn't deserve his manipulation of her life. This was pure selfishness and greed on his part. Plus he wasn't thinking of what his actions would do to her. He also was only thinking of himself in his last talk with Kim. It was a pathetic need for attention. This was not a food Jimmy episode. Then there was Howard and Chuck. It was nice to see Howard finally stand up to Chuck. But now he sees firsthand what an asshole Chuck can be when he's challenged even in the slightest. I don't think Jimmy foresaw just how much tipping of the insurance people that Chuck was mentally unstable would fuck up things for Howard and Chuck but here we are.
Had she stayed with Jimmy she wouldn't have crashed. She choose her "illness" (pathological overwork) over the "cure" (celebrating with Jimmy, taking a break)

You're the simple one. Not everyone cares about money and this lady clearly cherishes friendship above money. Quit trying to justify Jimmy's actions. What use does she have with it anyway? Especially at her age.
Wtf do you think a lady that age that lives in a nursing home is actually gonna do with that money? Most of it is going to go to her family and loved ones regardless once she passes, she might as well get as much as she can for them.
