Nobody had an advantage or disadvantage and the rosters were stacked with talent due to nobody being injured because the season was so short. All 30 teams had the same opportunity at full strength.
You're absolutely right! The playing field was even, and everyone had the same opportunity to win-the same thing in the case of the Lakers, who already have 17 titles. If the complainer's teams won a shortened season title, they would be bragging about it.
Everyone calling it fake but teams literally fought their assess to win it. When Dodgers won it, they're quick to call out it's value all of a sudden. lol

Not every owner can afford to destroy the luxury tax every year. Not to mention there’s more money in it for larger market teams. Fans pay more, owners make more.
there's a difference between the Marlins in 1997 just luring a bunch of free agents there with big contracts and getting really lucky and the Dodgers who actually build a good team from the ground up and then add FA talent at the end. Not a Dodger fan but I respect them.
@@Iridescence93 this is true, but it doesn’t change the fact that the playing field is far from level in MLB. And that’s sad for the fans of smaller market teams. It’s not based purely on merit. It’s mostly about money and the fans get robbed because of it. The Dodgers built a good organization, but they also bought superstars that most other teams couldn’t afford. And there’s nothing those other teams can do about it. The result is that it’s not really special when the Dodgers win the WS. It’s expected, and if they don’t they’re a massive failure. And they fail more often than not only because of the natural gravitational balance of the sport itself. This is why most of the Yankees championships are illegitimate. They had no real competition.
@@matt_h_27 I know this as a Rays fan. Friedman came from the Rays. He learned how to build a good team on the cheap and now has a big wallet besides. It is kind of a scary thing. The fact that Casparius, Knack, Honeywell and Hudson sacrificed themselves in game 4 to give Flaherty and bullpen some time to rest for game five was so clutch by Dave Roberts to do that (by the way we let Honeywell and the rest know how much we appreciated them for that during the parade celebration) I’m still in awe by what the Dodgers were able to do in this postseason under these conditions.
In every season since 2020 the Dodgers had serious holes in their roster by the time they reached the postseason. I was not at all surprised when they failed to advance very far, and this season seemed like it might be no different. Somehow they managed to gut it out. A lot of the credit should go to Dave Roberts, who is seriously underrated as a manager.

Folks that say it was payroll that won the championship forget that much of that payroll wasn’t available during the year. The pitching staff was a shambles all year and all the way to the World Series.
Instead of a salary cap the MLB should stop stop profit sharing the ticket sales between all the teams. That’ll get owners to start putting a winning product on the field again now that big market teams won’t be having to keep making money for owners that don’t care.
There’s nothing to indicate that the owners would all of a sudden invest more if you strip away those rules. It didn’t happen before and it won’t all of a sudden happen now
Critics often think the Dodgers simply buy their players, but many teams offered similar deals during trades. The Dodgers, however, invest wisely-creating a welcoming environment, developing talent through drafts, trades, the farm system, and fostering a positive team culture. These factors make players favor the Dodgers. Shohei Ohtani’s deferred payment option was available to all teams, yet he chose the Dodgers, adding a clause to opt out if President Andrew Friedman leaves. This shows Ohtani’s trust in the Dodgers to make good use of his deferred payments.

I'm a Mets fan. I admit, I thought the Mets were a 70 win team and they shattered my expectations. I am happy where we are now and we are in position to do EXACTLY what the Dodgers did with an owner like Cohen. Hopefully next year we can play in the World Series.
In 2020 the Lakers and Dodgers were both at the top of their respective leagues with the best record and that continued throughout. Also that same year both leagues were actually very healthy injury wise and everyone were on the same playing field like a gladiatorial level and the best teams came out victorious.
I think the message after watching this series is that yes money can kind of buy a world series trophy but its not guaranteed but with the way this team handled the series dealing with injuries and coming back from an elimination is what makes teams & players be remembered in the history of baseball and eventually some get inducted into the HOF if you look at some of the greatest players who played the game of baseball alot of times they did not have it easy they never gave up, they knew if they wanted to win they had to put in the work, and overall go out there and fight through the pain and seize that moment.
The astros world series feels weird now since we know what happened, and 2020 also felt weird because it was 60 games, I did not care about both championships.
Credit to Walker Bulldog for coming through and closing it out. Gotta feel for the guy especially when he admitted he was probably going to get cut during his struggles earlier in the season.
“Bought” here we go with the same BS. One thing is being terrible at scouting and just buying players from other teams. Muncy, Taylor, Turner were all third rate to their team. Didn’t the Mets have the highest payroll?
This is stupid. The rangers signed Seager and Semien, did they buy a championship? Phillies bought Turner, Harper, etc and the list goes on. Every team that wins is a combo of free agents, trades and homegrown talent. MLB is also full of underperforming high payroll teams.

@@WolfNeo333Other than Blake Treinen all of those guys are just above average, there’s no all star on those bullpen except Treinen.

Well said and I totally agree with you!
He's gonna get paid big time
He better get paid and stay in LA. His pitch movement is DISGUSTINGLY GOATED
They should keep Walker Buehler as well
Yes, thank you Mr. Treinen. Your time on the mound was as much pressure as any pitcher could face, and you came through for us.
I don't understand how people are calling 2020 fake when all the teams were on the literal same playing field and everyone was healthy. Nobody had an advantage or disadvantage and the rosters were stacked with talent due to nobody being injured because the season was so short. All 30 teams had the same opportunity at full strength.
I always tell people to go back and watch the reactions of the teams they beat. It definitely counted to them
You're absolutely right! The playing field was even, and everyone had the same opportunity to win-the same thing in the case of the Lakers, who already have 17 titles. If the complainer's teams won a shortened season title, they would be bragging about it.
I remember the teams we beat fighting with everything they had.
Everyone calling it fake but teams literally fought their assess to win it. When Dodgers won it, they're quick to call out it's value all of a sudden. lol
They say that because their team didn’t win. Same reason they hate on the 2020 Lakers and 2020 Lightning. If their team, these people would count the it.
The worst is spending money and NOT building. Prime example being the cross town team the Angels
I dont understand why people say bought a title. I mean, if a player is great, you pay them great. All clubs try to buy a championship. Some just are willing to pay more.
But yeah, while there are ways for smaller market teams to sort of compete if they're smart about it they are at a disadvantage. It's never been a fair system. Baseball would be way better off if they'd got the salary cap in '94 but we all know how that turned out.
10:46 Love that you highlight Treinen. The way Dave goes up to the mound to ask him if he's good and Treinen telling him he wants to stay in. That's such a Hollywood moment

In every season since 2020 the Dodgers had serious holes in their roster by the time they reached the postseason. I was not at all surprised when they failed to advance very far, and this season seemed like it might be no different. Somehow they managed to gut it out.
I had no idea about this though

If the A's would have spent the money to keep those 97 win teams together, or something similar several times since 2000, then they might have a championship by now.
@@Chris-i9f6q It’s just that the A’s owner is too greedy and too cheap. That organization pretends to be broke
I am a bit surprised the Los Angeles Dodgers won. For one our starting rotation was not good. Yoshinobu Yamamoto had no time to really warm up for the post season for he arrived from the il two weeks before the Postseason. Walker Buehler was struggling all season giving out homers like candy. The only reliable starting pitcher was Jack Flaherty. Both Tommy Edman and Max Muncy arrived like two or three weeks before the Postseason. Freddy Freeman was playing on one leg and Miguel Rojas was playing with no legs. We are screwed. But no the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the healthy and most potent team the San Diego Padres wich had a very talented/disciplined starting rotation:
so clown on them for winning and clown on them for losing
yeah shut up
Successful big market teams can never win. Whenever they reach their end goal haters just move the goalposts further away.
I Clown em for getting mookie and freddie after both of them beat the dodgers in the playoffs and went on to get rings
at the end of the day dodgers need to recruit to get the job done
@Gman1298 like you wouldn't want your team to get them if they were available! They're great players! Lol, seems to me like you're mad that free agency exists, trades exist and in pro sports you have the ability to go out and make your team better.
14:15 LOOKING AT YOU, JOHN HENRY AND RED SOX OWNERSHIP!!
iTalk when is the academy giving you your Oscar
🤣🤣🤣

The 2024 dodgers should have ended the 2020 legitimacy conversation. Enduring the injuries, 162 game season, and postseason exhaustion is all baked into what makes a World Series win impressive.
It’s at best an asterisk championship.
The dodgers earned a ton of respect this year. They endured all those injuries and finished the job.
Yes, unlike that San Diego team that I will come back to when spring training starts, or when they make a great trade, congrats dodgers
Thank you for making his video … other fan base thinking this was easy .
Go Dodgers! 2024
