Welcome to You Tube. It s great to have someone in the southern hemisphere creating a channel. I'm in New Zealand, and while I love all the channels I subscribe to, its great to have a channel more aligned to where we live.
I'm so glad your channel popped up in my recommendations. First Booktube channel that I've ever subscribed to. Looking forward to following your journey. Already found a couple of books to add to my TBR pile! 🤗📚
Welcome! Nice to have a fellow Australian - I'm naturalised, though 🇧🇷. 😉 Nothing against the younger demographic, but I am always trying to find more mature readers like me, with similar tastes. So I am so happy to find you! Like you, literary fiction and historical fiction are my favourite genres, followed by mystery/thrillers. I also only collect books that I can eventually re-read or special editions. I love Jane Austen (I've read all her novels more than once) and collect other works related to, such as retellings. Now I'm off to check your other videos. Seja bem-vinda!😊
I hear you! I love that there are so many younger people reading instead of 'scrolling' but am not looking to pick up those tik-tok recommendations anytime soon. Mature readers unite!
A hearty welcome!!! It's so wonderful to see new people enter this community. I love all the different perspectives and places in the world that booktube allows connection between. I've heard great things about the Clan of the Cave Bear series and it's been on my TBR for ages. Have a great rest of the week!
hi, Angela. Welcome! I can really relate to wanting to create something AND the goal of wanting to learn how to talk about books better! I was in the same spot when I started my channel! I’m looking forward to your videos!
Hi Angela! Yay, a fellow Aussie! I had the same goals a few years ago to read the Jane Austen novels. Two things got me going, and they were - firstly, the audiobook versions, so I can listen while doing something else, but also joining in on Jane Austen July hosted by Katie Lumsden from Books and Things on Book Tube, she also has a lot of videos just on Jane Austen in general. This gave me the impetus to stick with reading a Jane Austen, I’ve now worked through all of them except Sanditon, which I’ll pick up this year. I’m excited because now I can begin on my collection of spin offs and retellings because I’ve read the originals and I feel I won’t get spoilers now. Actually, I have Katie to thank for the fact that I now have read most twice.
Hi and thanks for commenting! Yes this is a fantastic way to read older novels - I did it with Wuthering Heights a few years ago and A Christmas Carol too. Really helps with the cadence of these books - I'll have to try it again with Jane Austen :)
I lost my younger sister 4 yrs ago & she was the only one in my life, from the instant we understood words lol, that devoured books like I did. I haven't read a book in 4yrs but having found your channel I'm looking forward to diving back in 💚❤️💚❤️💚❤️💚❤️
Welcome! Randomly looked up the newbie tag today and found your channel. I am looking forward to seeing more content from you. Love your Aussie accent and southern hemisphere perspective. Happy reading!
Welcome to UA-cam! I am also an eclectic reader. I read from every genre, so I am always glad to come across readers who enjoy a wide variety of books.
I found you through Kim at Middle of the Book March and so glad I did! I enjoyed this video and your Australian authors video and am looking forward to reading more Aussie fiction. I already am a big fan of Jane Harper and Kate Morton. Looking forward to more content from you, Angela; I’m now a subscriber!
Hi Angela, lovely to meet you! I have just joined Booktube myself. Completely get what you mean about just wanting to create and sharing your experiences 🥰
Welcome to Booktube Angela! Frankenstein (1831 edition) was really good - if you pick it up I think you'll enjoy it. Glad to have you join the community, looking forward to more :)
Welcome to the BookTube community, from one newb to another! (I just started my channel this week.) I'm shamelessly reading the V.C. Andrews series now! Best of luck with your channel - I look forward to watching more videos from you in the future.😎📚👍
Thank you! Honestly I have been thinking about picking up My Sweet Audrina for a while - they are entertainment at its best, that's for sure. Let's be shamless together lol :)
Great first video :) I really appreciate your pace of speaking. I love booktube but I watch it to relax and sometimes it’s so rushed, the typical UA-cam tempo. Your voice is very calming and you speak like a normal person, instead of the mustn’t loose attention-speed of many youtubers. Looking forward to hear more about books you’re reading or like :)
@@AngelasBookcaseNot at all! As long as the content is relevant, I much prefer videos where my heart doesn't start racing from the number of words per minute ^^ I think it was in another video of yours where there was a few clips of going to a pool, I would rather those were shorter than the speed of speech higher, if that makes sense. Definitely keep them in, to set the scene, loved that (and a lot of booktubers onlu show one single shot, so well done), but maybe keep that kind of thing a bit snappier to keep the momentum and get to the good stuff, meaning the books :D And please take this as only friendly advice from a well-wisher, and only take it to heart if you feel like it has merit. I haven't realized my channel dreams yet, so I'm so impressed with anyone who actually publishes a video!
Hi Angela! Welcome to booktube. I’m a newbie as well and it’s great to see other new booktubers too. I love the analog aspect of reading as well. Nothing like the feeling of crips pages or the smell of a new book. Can’t wait to see more from you!
Welcome to booktube Angela! Watching you from Quebec City, Canada. Cold and snowy, you’ll be warming me from Australia! 😅 Currently reading The Hobbit and Hello Strangers by Katherine Center. Yes, I do indulge in contemporary romance sometimes… 😊
Hello, great to hear a Aussie voice in this space. I’m on the other side of the country in Melbourne. Perth has had such hot weather this Summer hope your managing to keep cool. Looking forward to future videos.
Welcome to Booktube! I’m in Perth too 😎 I don’t have my own channel but know exactly what you mean about all the northern hemisphere seasonal videos, although I did enjoy seeing some of the snow scenes while we were having a heatwave!
Always happy to get more recommendations, especially from the southern hemisphere, simply to discover more of its' authors. And if you ever have any questions about the whole Booktube thing, do feel free to give a shout. Always happy to help :)

Welcome to BookTube. Yes reading enough is also a challenge for me as I don’t read that fast (read slow lol). But I haven’t had any problems with that just yet and I post three videos a week. Not all have to be book reviews. I also want to read Frankenstein sometime soon. Farrah over at Bookstalgic is also going to read it sometime soon. She mentioned February or March. So I’m waiting for her to start reading Frankenstein. Which version do you want to read? I’m planning to read both the original version and the rewritten version. Shelley did rewrite it herself.
Wow - 3 videos a week! Good for you! I think I'll aim to have Frankenstein read by October - I've got the Penguin Clothbound Classic edition which is very pretty :)
Hi Angela! Your channel just popped up on my feed so I have subscribed! Can you recommend a few Australian authors to get a newbie started? I have read Jane Harper but, I can’t think of any other. I look forward to following your channel.🇨🇦📚😀
