I'm 45 and my first car was '71 Malibu. Swapped out the tired 307 for a lightly warmed over 350 backed with a TH350. Bench seat, 4 wheel drum, power steering and A/C. Ripped the dead air con out when I swapped the engine to save weight. I later planned to Vintage Air it before she decided she wanted to be a BBQ more than she wanted to continue to be my daily driver. Miss it to this day, but they're so out of range monetarily, I doubt I'll ever be able to own one again.

My first car, I was forced to buy, at exactly 16 years old, by my 28 year career Army Dad, was a $900, purple with black stripe 1973 Gremlin 232 6 cylijder auto. I told my Dad after almost daily getting into fights at school, that I was going to wrap it around a telephone pole if he didn't let me sell it. I used the $1000 I got for the Gremlin with a new $39.95 Earl Sheibs special paint job, and I than bought a $1000, black on black 1966 Chevelle Malibu, 327/375hp auto and went from being called not so nice names, to car wise, one of the coolest kids in high school. By the way April could pick up my 63 year old self in a YUGO! As Always, May God Bless you and yours! 😇

My cousin had a 70 Chevelle with the 454. Black on Black but no stripes. He later had thin pinstripes added to the fender and body lines front to back with little flourishes at the tips. For the 1st two years he had it he drove it a few times a week but then someone tried to steal it out of his driveway and he cleared out his garage and the car lived there for the next 45 or so years. The only time it came out was for maintenance or the 4th of July. He fired it up. Came down the driveway and as soon as the front tires hit the pavement he let it rip. Always 10 minutes later he would be back and put the car away in the garage for another year. When he passed away his new wife sold the car before any of the family could even ask about it. She HATED the Chevelle but loved the fact that it was worth a boatload of cash which she got when it sold.

Dude and Dudess, I had a '69 396 SS. For about 3 months, I was 17, and the insurance I had, more than doubled when I told I bought this thing. The only cool thing about not having this car anymore, I sold it, after 3 months, for a little over 3 times what I bought it for. In the mid 80's This thing was THE CAR. Everywhere I went, EVERYWHERE, people wanted to buy it. If I parked it anywhere, it was always within my sight. Red with White Ralley stripes, Black interior and Cowl Induction. I put 2 sets of rear tires on it, in 3 months! LOL. Loved that thing but, could not justify the insurance as a High Schooler. It went to a good home, someone that was vetted by my Drag racing neighbor, and he still has it!

In 1970, my uncle came by my parents home with a 454 Chevelle in a metallic blue-grey colour. I was six at time, but I remember it as "the car where the back end kept wanting to pass the front end." I know it was a 454 because there was a raised metal 454 logo on the dash in front of the passenger seat that I ran my finger along repeatedly, In my memory, it was a notch-back, but since they didn't make notch-nack Chevelles in 1970 or put 454s into the earlier cars, I'll put that down to the Mandella Effect. He stayed with us for a bit over a week, just long enough for me to fall in love with that car. Today I have a 1:18 scale die-cast model of a 1970 LS6 in approximately the same colour which my wife bought me as a pre-emptive measure, and I have promised never to have more 1:1 scale cars than I can drive in a week.

April, We are all hoping that you help, guide, nurture, and support our Hoovie to make good decisions moving forward on this channel...😁(❤) Nice Chevelle, By the way. My oldest brother bought one in 1970. I don't know the proper name for the color, It was a light sage green, with a green vinyl top and white stripe package. And as a 9 year old, I was scared to death of it, but I also thought it was effing' awesome at the same time. That's my book for the day...

I owned a 1972 Chevelle Malibu 350 with Crager SS rims in High School through College. The biggest thing I remember is that the drum brakes all around were terrible. I would love to own your friends 454 beast.

Hello Tyler! Can you please bring back the Hoovies Garage diamond logo t-shirts, I've wanted to buy one for a long time now but they are sold out. I've been enjoying your content almost since the start and i found you thru my interest in old Merc's. Keep on posting great content, I'll stay here for as long as you post videos.

April talking about an "iconic body" is funny to me. I'm also 60 years old so she would get my attention in this car. Honestly, difficult to focus on the car in this review. 🤣 I have a 1970 Chevelle LS6 w/an M22 tranny in this same color combination, which I think is the best. Having a pretty girl that's into muscle cars is also a great combination. I heard the 1st gear whine of the rock crusher so I'm pretty sure its an M22 (not an M21). Fun review guys.

I took my driving test at the age of 16 in my mother’s 1969 Chevelle Malibu. It had the basic 350 engine, but the carburetor was badly in need of a rebuild. The car almost stalled while I was making a left turn, but I kept it going by keeping my left foot on the brake and hitting the gas with my right. When I let off the brake the car lurched forward, and I made the turn without stalling. But I got marked off for ‘lack of smoothness’ or some such thing. But there was a happy ending. The minimum passing score for the driving test was 70 and my score was a 71. I got my license, and I’ve kept it for the last 51 years.

We had a drag race between a 1970 Chevelle with a 454 and a 1968 Camaro with a 350 back in the 70's when I was in High school. The Camaro didn't want to race for obvious reasons. The guy in the Chevelle said he wouldn't leave till the Camaro hit 2nd gear. When he left,
you could tell the Chevelle was going to catch him, and beat him in the 1/4 mile. Which he did. That was one of the fastest cars I ever saw.

I owned a 1970 GM A-body for 31 years. They are simply right, in a whole lot of ways. Easy to drive, easy to fix, easy to modify, and uncomplicated. Solid engineering as well, and durable. At least mine had very high build quality from Flint. A 68 to 72 GM A-body is extremely popular for a reason. Not to mention GM Design was hitting it out of the ballpark with physical appeal.

My dad had one of these before I was born. Someone stole it, stripped everything off of it, and threw the body off a cliff, which ironically now sits right above the neighborhood I live in.

Oh man, back in highschool a friends dad owned this in yellow and black stripes. He gave it to my friend and let us take it out, we had taken it to the city one night and it was just a day... Even pulled over and the cop let us go. Something about that experience , always makes me appreciate muscle cars from that era.
