I saw you out the other night
I saw somebody hold you tight
Roxette, I wonder who it could be
It was so dark I couldn't see
But I know it wasn't me
When I tell you it ain't right
I know you've got to agree
I followed you into a show
The band was playing rock'n'roll
Roxette, I didn't need to seek you out
The music played so loud
That I could hear you through the crowd
You was telling everyone
About a new guy you'd found
Roxette I gotta go away
And leave you for a couple of days
Roxette, I don't want no more of your tricks
I'm gonna get some concrete mix
And fill your back door up with bricks
And you better be there waiting
When I get my business fixed
Old Grey Whistle Test on the BBC was the best music programme ever. RIP Wilco.
Can't believe that the inimitable Wilko Johnson is no longer with us. Privileged to have seen him play.
I’m on holiday in Egypt, just read the news,so sad.😢. Had to go to this song .rip
Oh no This is the first I've heard! Top geezer how very sad. RIP Wilko
I was lucky enough to see him in all three incarnations- with Dr Feelgood, with the Solid Senders, and with his own Wilko Johnson outfit. The Feelgood’s gig remains, forty-seven years later, the best live act I have EVER seen.
Loved the Feelgoods, one of my favourite bands, saw Wilko a few years ago supporting the Stranglers, RIP wilko😢
I know Sweet F.A about this band, but it wld appear they certainly created their very own individual Style!
I was expecting the Swedish pop duo covering the Motley Crue hit. I've never been more delighted to be incorrect.
One of most criminally unrated bands of all time.
RIP Wilko. There are some guitarists who are instantly recognisable by their playing style. Wilko is one of them. Damn the rock band is growing upstairs.
As close to being down and out as you can get wearing a suit - that's real blues. One of the best bands ever to have graced the British rock scene.
Well said. I saw them loads in the seventies on of the best live bands ever. And we saw all th e top bands included zeppelin sabbath purple floyd etc
Probably the only band where grotty egg stains where part of their stage dress. 🤣
RIP Wilko...thanks for the memories.
the whole band were brilliant together
While it's easy to focus on the dynamics of Wilko & Lee, that rhythm section of Big Figure & John B Sparks takes some beating
The perfect R&B band
American blues but with a definite Essex edge. Thanks Wilco you were a one off and a legend. Buy Lee a pint from me when you see him.
My favorite feelgoods track
Sad that we lost such a huge component in the history of the guitar as an instrument. He pushed boundaries with his unorthodox approach. I met Wilko once, he was incredibly nice. Gave me a firm handshake and wished me luck with my guitar playing career. Didn't have to do that to some random nobody. He was deservedly proud of how many shows he did. He said he'd been playing something like 380 shows a year. That he'd often play 2-3 shows in a day if he could. Even after everything he'd been through, he was still inspired, keen, dedicated and excited about music and performing. It's something I often think about when I'm struggling with inspiration. Anyway, the man had no ego, no celebrity attitude, he wasn't surrounded by bodyguards, Just a genuinely friendly dude who loved playing guitar.. He'll be greatly missed. 🙏✌️
Nice comment man.
@@guickdotto4552 @Guick Dotto Just the truth. 😊 Met the odd celebrity at gigs here and there. Not all of them add up to what you think they will. But Wilko was classy. My friend was a much bigger fan than me at the time, we went to see him in Bristol. Fairly small club. Wasn't anyone else back stage. We chatted probably around 45 minutes. Norman watt-Roy wandered in at one point, that's when wilko said 'Hey Norm, these guys are musicians too, tell them how many shows we did last year!' to which Norman corroborated a number around 380. They were just genuine decent guys. Treated us like old friends even though we'd never met. I guess you get some kinship among musicians. But I've brushed by plenty celebs who wouldn't give you the time of day! I imagine plenty stories will start coming out now he's sadly passed.. Don't doubt that my story is not that unique. ✌️
Absolutely beautiful tribute to a LEGEND
That's great 👍
RIP WILKO. Your now with your friend LEE RIP in Rock Heaven.
Rest in peace Wilko
RIP Wilko, you, as we can see here, we're one of a kind.
RIP Wilko. One of my favourite Feelgood tunes.
Absolute classic. RIP Wilko ,.
Wow Lee was fantastic
One of my favourite performances from Wilko, who sadly died today. He looks so fucking cool here. An innovative, engaging and inventive guitarist. Thanks for being Wilko, Wilko!
Pure canvey Island 👍
Inventive innovative??? Oh please....

R.i.p wilko, one of the most underated guitar players
This can only be described as a superb, completely mesmerising performance.
I agree, its legendary
Absolutely 👍
100%. Britain really did have talent!
Don’t forget french are the best at sex 😊
Copying someone else's comment but "The Sweeney with guitars"
Sad news, Rest In Peace Wilko, you are an absolute legend.
I first heard Gang of Four when I was 16 or so and thought nobody had ever played guitar like that, and then I saw this clip... Wilko was so ahead of his time, an amazing player. RIP
Check out Mick Green of Johnny Kidd and the pirates.
It's Mick's playing Wilko tried to imitate but couldn't so he developed his own style.
Andy Gill was a big fan of Wilco.
I watched a video where Wilkins showed his guitar technique, and said it was really simple. Ha! His playing was unique, and brilliant. He was an influence on so many after him, but there have not been any like him. RIP Johnny.
that the one he did in the book shop ?
Seen them supporting Motorhead at the Apollo 1976 fkn blew my head aff . Wilko a fkn guitar gawd
R.I.P. Wilko
Wilko, will miss you because you where so much part of my youth, Rip
RIP Wilko
Great, great band so underestimated Wilko Johnson was a star on that Telecaster and will be sadly missed and the lead singer was a great harmonica player to class act R.I.P. WILKO AND THANK YOU MY FRIEND.
RIP Wilko...class! from a fellow Southender.
So good and so underrated !!
1st saw them in 1978 unbelievable live band RIP Wilko
Defnitely channeling the Howlin Wolf .
RIP Wilko and Lee. Thanks for some great memories.
I was lucky enough to see the original line up in their pomp in the mid 70's. Absolutely spellbinding. So intense and you couldn't take your eyes off Lee and Wilko
Sadly our Heroes are leaving us....was lucky to see Wilko several times..including with The Hamsters with John Otway on tour.....!!.....Wilko always gave it everything on stage...!!....Thought he'd go on forever..!!... At least we've got the music and clips like this......read his book for lots on the Feelgoods...Best wishes from Plymouth UK..!!
No one plays guitar like wilco..! Simple as..! RIP.
one of the best songs ever performed live
RIP Wilko!
Absolutely Superb 50002
Brill brilleaux....A really good band
I will never forget Wilko playing the poly of Wales, a mesmerising performance, he had everything.
R.I.P WILKO! FAB musician, unique guitarist!
Oh no, Wilkos gone. Only found out now. Rest in peace Wilko ! ...he left his mark 4 ever.
RIP Wilko…
Lee was soooo fab, I recently lost my friend who was very nearly as good as him playing the mouth organ, but not quite. Dr Feelgood original, totally one off. We used to go see them in Camden 1970/80s Never forget them.
I watched this as originally broadcast.
Wilco made quite an impression, with his unorthodox style… RIP.
Rest In Peace Wilko 😔
R.I.P. Wilko mate, say hi, to Lee!👍
Just heard the news 😥😥😥. RIP Wilko. So glad I got see him play.
RIP Wilko.
Magnificent.
I remember watching this back in the day. Awesome band
I only found out how good this band was very late on in life. Would have loved to have seen the original lineup but did get to see the brilliant Wilko earlier this year. I was treated to a storming set by the great man, accompanied by the fantastic Norman Watt-Roy. So glad I got to see the legend before his sad passing. RIP Wilko.
We used to watch all the big bands in the seventies. But feelgood were one of the best live bands ever. Saw them loads.
Awesome blues-harp!
I was only the 500th to like this. Get a grip people! RiP Lee and Wilko.
Saw them many, many times in the 70s 80s. Quality.
Bare bones, bar bustin’ jams.
R and B it's best and never bettered
Wilko Johnson is a living legend, just read his book 'Looking back at me'. Fucking hilarious especially the tale about him falling off his bike after visiting the all night garage.
Lee always looked like he was ready to take his coat off and have a scrap😃
Saw these guys in London 1981. They gave away beers from the stage.
rip wilko :(
stunningly good. RIP Wilko
This is the proper feel good line up
Without a doubt the best piece of live music ever
Wilko's black & yellow shirt is nice. I want the same
Wilko this song sums up how great a guitar player you was....rest in peace if heaven has a band it just got a great person and musician to join it.
I'd be happy if the camera was locked off on Wilco; I'd watch him going backwards and forwards for a good while.
I would as well. He's completely hypnotic.
No doubt about it but Dr Feelgood made me feel good!
Art, truth, expression and delivery ... I'd say yes.
What memories..cracking sound, great band.
they were punk before punk!
another great track! Being a mid 40's gen X'er I have always held the view that this era of musician was kind of proto punk, not sure if anyone agrees and by the time grunge/alternative rolled around in the late 1980s I was like haven't we seen this before?
Wilko i love you Rip
Top Class
Omg best band that has ever been rip Wilco 😢
This has got EVERYTHING going on. Just fantastic.
He's 'Moon Walking' with his head 😮
Perhaps the coolest front man ever
I remember seeing this when OGWT was first broadcast. Absolutely fabulous then as it remains to this day and it was great to see Wilko's gig in Birmingham in February this year when he was still on top form....🤗🤗
I remember my older cousin letting me stay up late, to watch the OGWT. It was a revelation, so much better than Top Of The Pops. I saw Wilko, not sure, about 4 or 5 years ago. He was on top form, and a funny guy that was able to keep the audience engaged. At one point, he was tuning his guitar by ear ... he stops and say "Ach, it's close enough for Rock and Roll." ... which made me laugh, and showed he still had the pub rock ethos. :)
@@fishypaw Spot on there...yes, very 'ordinary' bloke without any 'airs and graces'...loved him....🤗🤗
Wilko i wish you may rest in Peace!!
What a SINGER Lee brilleax.
Rip Wilco you great
Saw him and Dr Feelgood many moons ago in Dublin great band!
IT SOLD ME !!!!BLOODY ICONIC ENGLISH BLUES / ROCK Band 😁g
our favouriite Les Brilleaux we loved him
Many iconic moments on the Whistle Test, This is one of them.
Great band and perfect song
RIP Lee...long time gone...💯
Will Johnsons guitar sound and style was as distinctive as Hendrix. Totally different, but you know when its Wilko, just as you know when its Jimi.
They don’t do it like this anymore 👍
Good to see somebody's still listening to this 👌
What. A. Band 👊🏻
This is a bug eyed masterpiece.
Absolutely love this group. And the guitar player he is a showman
REAL Rhythm-n-Blues.
Wilko plays leads and Rhythm, Brilliant
" Wilko Johnson " Courageous Too The last " !!! RIP !!!! From Adrian Browne 1965
Saw this at the time my parents loved the old grey whistle test I am old
Timeless, thanks Monsieur Wilko
