  • The Taurus G3C is the evolution of the PT111 introduced by Taurus in 2013. Taurus has come a long way since the first introduction of this firearm. By adding key features and taking away some that did not get received well. Taurus has made a firearm that is both budget-friendly as well as has EDC in mind.
At a price point below $300 Taurus has made concealed carry not only affordable but widely available.
During our testing our test firearm fired 1000 rounds with 2 malfunctions both being ammo related.
What do you think of Taurus as a company? Have they changed your mind over the last few years or did they leave a bad taste in your mouth.
    Sound off below.

The G3C is also an excellent pistol for players that are already proficient with firearms and have many other “expensive” guns but want something for EDC that’s reliable but cheaper. And this setup works great for me.

I love my Taurus G2C, I started thinking a couple of years ago when I started edc carrying, If you ever have to use your gun to defend yourself, chances are you are never going to see it again. I carry it everywhere, the finish holds up great, and I really don't worry to much about it getting sweaty or wet, It has held up well,
I think saying that it is a gun you wouldn't by now because you are an experienced shooter is sorta condescending. It is a tool, it does what it is supposed to do, and it does it really well at an unpretentious price.

Agreed. But I will say that it is always nice to have options when it comes to tools.

      Agreed.
Why buy a $100 hammer when the one a harbor freight does the same thing at a whopping $15.
If it didn’t perform, then there is no argument to really have. And when you look at a hi point cost today vs a Taurus, for an extra $50-$60 it’s a no brainer.
I have options too. My “duty” sidearm is no Taurus, but if “IF” I were to KIT out, I would not hesitate to strap the G3 or G2/3C to my plate carrier as a backup to my backup.
As I and you said, it holds up to me carrying all day every day, holds up me being hard on it, sweating, pinning it between myself and a structure, getting dust dirt in so I’m being very hard on these tools. And Expect it to work

I bought an original PT111 G2 way back in early 2016 when they were almost impossible to find. I’ve never regretted that purchase. It’s been accurate and reliable always, and even though today I have “better” EDC guns I still carry my G2 for certain situations. It spends the rest of its time in a quick-access vault, ready to go for home defense.

Yes, Taurus has stepped up their game by leaps and bounds. I have had a whole bunch of Taurus fires arms and some were pretty good! I have had both the G3 TORO and a G3C toro. I am 73 years old and I LOVE the red dots. I recently built my g3c into a hybrid. G3 toro Full size slide, G3c frame, Lakeland 5" barrel, and i had my gun shop, (Hughes defensive) whip me out a OWB kydex holster which works like a charm. I even have an Olight mini with green laser on it and this package underneath my Tropical shirts hides away just hunky dory! Accurate> Well I'd say at 25 yards I coul still put Mr. Dildo bad guy down. Using light weight rounds that are HYDRO rounds at 2250 FPS, the recoil is fine and stopping power is too! It have used it SO MUCH, the finish on the red dot and the slide has worn itself off! Time to send it off for a DLC Coating! PRICE? Well shucks, even on my piddly ass social security check, I managed a good gun! Thumbs up to Taurus!!

Love the lakeline barrels and mini comps.
The G2/3c the make a ported barrel for them, wish he’d do so for the G3, I have the Valkyrie on my G3 and the Baldr pro with green laser on my duty sidearm. Lots of hate on Olight but I’ve yet to have an issues and they’re rechargeable

Besides being compatible with Glock sites it will run Sig p226 mags flawlessly. Paid only $300 for mine.

You mentioned the ability of the gun to reset the striker after every trigger pull is great for dry firing practice. I would take that one step further...I use the gun for instruction with one of those laser systems. The gun is fantastic when used with the laser. I can pull the trigger 10 times and get 10 strikes on the target, I don't have to pull the slide back after every shot. For use with the laser, this gun is awesome. It is also a great EDC gun, I have two of them and magazines galore. I keep it in a thumb break holster and never ever have to worry that it may have fallen out, and, it is so light, I carry it more than I do my heavier guns. It is every bit as reliable as my $1000 sig's and Colts.

Love my G3C with a holosun 507c with acss reticle. The reset is nice, the trigger is different but good, you have to train with it just like any firearm

I have these, a stainless and regular tenifer one, the regular G3C, not the Toro. I got the Toro slide from the factory. I shoot it great with just the iron sights, so I sold the red dot and toro slide.
The G3 & G3C are great guns. The grip texture is perfect. It does pull a little on a polyester shirt when carrying, but doesn’t rub on the skin. If you look at this, it is between the Glock 43 and 43X as far as grip length. I shoot this better than either of those. This pistol is rounded on the backend of the slide, which helps with concealment.
This pistol is overlooked a lot because it’s “Cheap”This is my EDC and has earned that spot over the pistols that are twice as much and more.
My only con would be what they mention here as far as a “hard primer”. I have only had 3 times in over 1,500 rounds, both target and hollow point ammo, that I had an issue. All 3 were from the same box of steel cased ammo, known for hard primers. I normally don’t fool with steel cased and don’t like it at any price, especially now when it’s only maybe 1 or 2 dollars cheaper a box. As far as the issue, all 3 fired on a restrike, just pulling the trigger again, one of them took 2 restrikes.
The thing you have to wonder is, I also had 3 other guns I was testing the steel cased ammo with and none of those had a hard primer. So my conclusion is, the striker hit all 3 rounds, so maybe it’s not hitting with the same force as the other pistols I was testing that day. Never any other jams or issues with this pistol, except aftermarket support, I most likely will never use steel cased ammo, so it’s a go. If I do have another “hard primer” issue, I will either rack and tap, or just pull the trigger again.

I have the G2, the G3 and my daughter has the G3c and they all seem to work. Some issues with cheap ammo and flat tipped 147 in the G3c. Otherwise very cost effective.

Have an original PT111 and a G2C. Except for wanting more capacity, I was actually fond of the original. On the G2C, the mag release sits in a position that if I fire rapidly, I have to be careful where I rest my thumb or I will release the magazine. I read online where I was not the only one experiencing this issue. Not a positive thing if I ever needed to be in a situation where I had to rip off a number of shots in quick order. Just an FYI, the specs you put up did not appear to be for the compact model (4" barrel, etc.) which is clearly the one you are showing/shooting.

GC2 was the #1 selling 9mm for years. The G3C is even better. Don't forget to get a 30rd mag. I also have a trigger laser on mine. My second 9mm is a Ruger ec9s even smaller for better carry.

    • @TrueShotAmmo

  • @jw5297

I personally run the G3, I know it’s not a Glock, but given the cost and I can buy 2 G3 and several hundred rds of 9mm at the cost of 1 G19. As hard as I’ve been on this thing and it just keeps running I carry it daily
Hell yes I’d buy it, I recommend people buying one. Nothing wrong with the firearm.
It’s no Wilson Combat, but for oh shit, self defense yep it works.
