Correct, a lot of people like to say that The Flintstones was always targeted towards children but that wasn’t the case during its first run. It was definitely targeted towards grown ups especially when they advertised cigarettes and being heavily inspired by The Honeymooners, the show wouldn’t become a lot more family friendly when Pebbles and Bamm - Bamm would eventually show up.

Alan Reed and Mel Blanc (Fred and Barney’s original voice actors) were both lifelong smokers and they both died of emphysema. Everybody smoked back then.
Mel Blanc smoked when he was nine years old quitting he was 77 because he had emphysema when I found out, I was shocked, because beginning smoking at nine years old can you be dead by 20 years old

But wasn't it supposed to be taking place in 1 million BC? It was just being viewed through time in the 1960s. Which also means that it's VERY hard for them to make the claim that the cigarettes shortened his life, let's see them live to the age of a million.

If everyone on the planet was kept isolated in a room until adulthood, then no child would ever fall down the stairs or get hit by a car. We must always weigh safety benefits against the potentially harmful side effects of our "shelter".

Miner Moleman No, weed smoke is less harmful to your lungs. Smoke can be better or worse depending on what’s burning. Weed isn’t 100% harmless, but it’s a hell of a lot less deadly than tobacco.
@@Kpengie If I recall correctly, burning ANY plant and directly inhaling it will result in tar forming in your lungs. So yeah, weed certainly doesn't have all the toxins found within tobacco, but it's still gonna do some damage, especially if built up over time.
