      @@ch2010ize True, I never thought of myself as a millennial, being born in the 80s at times I've felt closer to Gen X siblings of mine. I was in my teens when 2000 came along, so I always thought it was funny that was what somehow defined my generation. But hey, "millennial" is just a marketing term anyway. I just think it's funny when people equate "millennials" with just young people in general and like to blame everything on us. Like dude, I'm in my 30s with kids and a mortgage. So yeah, I could see how even millennials don't think of themselves as "millennials".

      Eh, tbf, I don't know what's gonna be worse. I got quite a bad feeling if they tried to make Popeye an animated movie, given the drop in animation style, story, and humor these days.
      Perhaps it's an evil that has been shrouded away from the many Popeye's fan to not be disappointed.

      @@alexanderchristopher6237 They actually had some test footage made by Genndy Tartakovsky. Looked pretty good, kind of in the same style as the Hotel Transylvania movies, and apparently it was something he really wanted to make, I'd recommend looking it up.
      Real disappointing they canceled it.

    The Popeye movie had a lot of potential, i grew up watching Popeye the sailor man, and i liked it, the fights were really entertaining and the creatures he was fighting looked epic! I didn't once say that he was too 1929 or 1950, this is the problem of the modern day, we want everything up to date.

    Sure, some of Popeye's jokes might've been racist here and there. But who are THEY to claim that today's audiences won't love his, Tom & Jerry's, Scooby's or even the Looney Tunes' classic material?

      pretty true. Wasn't as if him playing that role was a huge stretch, but the amount of improvised lines and lines not animated to the mouth because the actor(s) were just going on saying funny af stuff translating into robin williams on screen made perfect sense. If only they'd not done "the singing" and actually gotten Bluto's character right (I mean seriously how was that so complicated?) that movie actually could've been really good.

    When I was on Holiday in Greece as a kid, they actually had a popeye theme park. I remember it being run-down as fuck though.

      Does the show Popeye's had any to do with the fried chicken restaurant Popeye's?
      There's basically no Popeye's restaurant back in my home country, so I don't really know much except that one time when I saw Popeye's being used as an advert/promotion in a Popeye's restaurant.
