So I decided to give this show a shot and I absolutely loved it. So much of what this show is about comes down to storytelling: the stories Rust and Marty tell the detectives in 2012, the stories they both use to get through the day. Rust tells himself a story in which nothing in life means anything and he therefore has nothing to lose. I really liked his character. In the beginning we see him as someone who is avoiding others because he's trying to keep it together, and is relying on the job to actually survive. Seven years later, he still relies on the case as his lifeline but after things didn't work out with Lori, resigns to his nature, once again. At the end he has endured the existence and wrestles the devil every day, and he realizes that this may last a lot longer than he ever hoped for. And I think this is the conclusion he comes to by the end of the series: he exists, and he is going to live this life. «Once there was only dark. If you ask me, the light is winning».

Great tribute, I like Rust, despite his nihilistic philosophy and negative outlook on life and the world he still goes out of his way to help and save people, even when he left his department he stayed focused on the case as a result of his unwavering commitment to genuine justice.

This is so beautiful, I never thought that mercury would fit so well but damn if I was wrong. I agree completely with your assessment of his character and I also believe that by the end he realizes that he doesn't have to be alone, he realizes that Marty has been his friend even after all that time has passed. And the conclusion made me hopeful, not because there was a big break of an unsolved mystery, but because the light was winning because the two of them were alive and were able to keep doing their best for the world. Idk mate... TD S1 is a goddamn masterpiece.

What a beautiful tribute, I love how you conveyed not only Rust, but also his relationship with Marty, because I feel like people underrate the role Marty plays in Rust's life. Каждый раз, когда смотрю твое новое видео, хочется ударить по своим собственным пальцам молотком, ибо твоему скиллу эдитинга невозможно не завидовать! Ну вот КАК у тебя получается делать такие вроде бы незамысловатые видео в стиле минимализма без единого промаха. И каждый (вроде бы) банальный плавный переход превращается в искусный монтаж? В общем, мне настолько понравилось это видео, что я чуть ли не кипятком писаюсь (в том числе и от зависти :D) после просмотра. ПыСы. Я все еще присматриваюсь к тру детективу, но твое видео убеждает меня в том, что если не вотпрямщас, но смотреть однозначно стоит. Спасибо за видео! ПыПыСы. И колор, как всегда, просто азазаза!
