I'm impressed to see several 2CVs with towbars. Must be quite sedate progress. My first Citroen with a towbar was a Visa. I couldn't find one for sale, so I welded up my own.
This took me back nearly 40 years. Our first 2CV was a 1979 yellow one, bought new as we were fed up with the older cars we were running at the time falling apart on us! We joined 2CVGB within a couple of weeks of ownership and has a fabulous 7 or 8 years attending 2CV meets all over the UK and Europe. I think that the last one we went to was the 2CVGB national meet at Worcester rugby club in 1988-ish, in a grotty hand-painted green Dyane. By this time we had 2 young kids and were worried about the safety of the 2CV as a child carrier, so the main family car was upgraded to a BX GT with the Dyane as a fun weekend toy. I doubt that there are any current 2CVGB left from those days, but if there are Rob, Sarah (founder members of the Twin Pot Peeper Poppers) and (the late) Tinker the dog say hello. I'm sure that Tinker is still happily stealing sausages from BBQs at doggie 2CV meets!
Just wonderful, almost like being in France, dry and brown fields, many Deux cheveux, camping, all chilled, a little wine and cheese for those who wish, it's what summers are for, thank you Mr h, 👍👏
Love the opening sequence of all the cars under the trees without many humans. Looks like they've decided to get together of their own accord, a gathering of mechanical huldufolk.
Sorry for too many comments. As a 16 yr old I used to wash a fleet of coaches on Saturday and Sunday and in evenings. My boss was very wealthy owner and could have probably had any car. He had a villa in Greece and every year drove his ami8 back and forth stopping at fancy hotels throughout Europe. Suddenly made me think why didn’t he use his Mercedes? The answers in this vlog. People love these vehicles and create a passion.
Looked a great weekend. I saw a lovely cream coloured Citroen Diane 6 in my local village in the Midlands, i got more excited seeing it than the high end cars seen in the car park.
I found myself getting very stressed out doing my own brake pipes earlier (I HATE doing brake pipes with a passion but needs must). I gave up, wandered off and watched the intro for this video, it did a wonderful job of calming my nerves. Car is now parked back outside with a pair of new flexis and pipe sections! Genuinely helped me, much appreciated 👍 Cheers Ian!
I recall the Spot and the first Charleston's - however as a former owner I do love a Dyane. I agree Ian the Dyane styling is tremendous and other worldly in its appeal. I knew a guy who was a local sparky and his form wanted to take his Dyane van off him and replace it with a new Escort van and he fought tooth and nail to keep the Dyane because he loved the fwd platform and the grip no Escort van could ever give him. Floyd on France opened with Keith Floyd driving a dishevelled Mehari at speed on a dusty road in a sun drenched Provence - it just reeked peak France
Flowing fount of sentiment, in a good way! Owned them all, apart from vans at one time. All you will ever need to cart you about. Kept a Dolly as a pet until my health started failing and forced to do an emergency stop on M62. It did of course but it was close. Still miss them but in my 70's still have Citroen C4 Picasso. Lovely video.
Great video, Ian. So good to see so many fantastic examples. Oh, and good choice of music. Really set the mood, somehow. Keep 'em coming. Stay safe, HubNut family.
First car I drove was a Charleston 2cv in a field with my friends aged 15 , still my favourite car but I do like the Dyane, Ami and love the DS , if I could would love all of these cars. Love your technical description of “twiddly knob dashboard “ . Great video .
Very nice this format with some musical interludes, Ian! Lovely collection of 2CVS and derivatives. Personally I would like an Acadiane and use it as some expedition vehicle. Maybe it can even pull Bob when you fit a GSA engine 😉
I'm not really a fan of 2cv's (I'm a beetle kind of guy), but I loved this video. The music especially was well done and really added to the production values. Well done Ian. I think this was your best video yet.
I saw them fluorescent lights and I just uttered to myself that they'd go well in Bob, seems that someone agreed with my utterances, but then I have been and always shall be obsessed with lights... :D And yes, that starlet "Ami" was utterly convincing, wouldn't have guessed it wasn't an actual Ami at all... :P
There may be some confusion regarding erection times, but when it comes to staying power you leave them in the shade. This is a super enjoyable video and a real treat for the uninitiated such as myself. These cars are wonderful to see and you are a champion of that cause. Next time, please, wear a hat, do not neglect your thermostat. Many thanks.
Great seeing all these incarnations of 2cv together. Even other cars disguised as 2cvs 🙂 Must have been a great meeting. I really enjoyed your explanation to all different types and models.
Thank you so much for attending, shooting, editing and presenting this wonderful event. The background music was absolutely perfect; it set the mood, and took me to the 2cv meet that I can only dream of. Thank you.
A really enjoyable video Ian, loved the intro, as a new convert to Citroen ownership ableit in my modern Cactus (spotted one on the video) i very much enjoyed this and seeing all the lovely 2CV's, Ami's and the lone H Van.
Great video and the sound track at the beginning sounded spot on, especially the second track. Also I was watching your Bob update on Wednesday, and I have to say yous were looking very relaxed and enjoying yourselves. I like Bob a bit better than a trailer tent with more of a caravan feel to it, and although I kind of prefer folding caravans with their solid sides, the pull out bedrooms give good extra room. As I was watching that video I thought "They're still away travelling it will probably be a while before I get my Model TWK, also they might not have managed to get more yet. Next day knock on the door post man with a parcel, thinking I'm not expecting anything I took it and thanked him. I opened it up and to my amazement and joy it was TWK!! I love it, it's braw (great lol). So from James in Glasgow thank you :). Sorry for the long comment, but it made my day.
Excellent video! Looking forward to meeting some of you lovely folk in a field somewhere just as soon as I've got Franc, my AK250 back out on the road!
I used to see a Blue Bijou regularly at the much missed Selkirk Classic Car Show. I thought it was the best thing to come out of Slough since Thunderbirds... Funny how 2CV go 'Whirr' and Morris Minors go 'Fart'😄
Rewatching this, I wish I was capable of starting a new 2cv factory. I would buy one in a heartbeat maybe two. I was riding to morrocco one year and “ 2cv and R4 raid” was hurtling down the motorway towards Gibraltar from Cadiz from many countries and in many guises. Apparently they were headed to Marrakesh. They were all travelling 60-70 mph hundreds of them
What a great different type of video style from Hubnut. I didn't realize how many different types of 2 CV's there are. Here's to seeing the next interesting Hubnut Video.
One thing I regret in my life is, not having bought that Méhary so many years ago, I went for test driving. Then, prices were low, like chf 1'500 for a "MOT" (called differently in Switzerland: MFK) tested but very lame with a soft top. Heaven on earth must be driving an open Méhary on French Riviera.
Many thanks for sharing Ian. I always had a soft 'Spot' for the 2CV and it's derivatives when I was growing up. In my 20's given limited funds I had a choice between the 2CV and the classic Mini's, being young and the usual peer pressure at the time the bonkers handling Mini won. Now (very) much older I'm very tempted to possibly dip a toe into the 2CV ownership if I can find a place to store it, So who knows maybe I might just try and get one at some point as I absolutely love them after all those years. We shall see... Oh and my preferred model would be a van.
Hi Iain , great to see Me and my Red n White Dolly @ 1 Min 15 seconds .. a brilliant snap shot of of a Hot relaxing weekend .Also nice to have a natter with you and Mrs Hubnut . video of a
One of my long-term obsessions is a 2CV anything...but sadly, not officially imported into the States. By the way, this video ranks very high up in your repertoire, as a super-fine piece of work!
They were imported into the US in the 1950s, though never in great numbers. However, they are now all over 25 years old, so you could import one from Europe relatively easily or simply buy one the several that are always on offer in the US. There are currently 16 listed on Autotrader.

Back in the day, my mate was obsessed with 2CVs (although his first car was a Dyane 6 which was complete deathtrap, lol). We used to spot different 2CVs when we were out and about and I'm sure we counted well in to double figures for either special editions or dealer specials; there was a Cochon which had pink bullbars front and rear and pig decals on the back, the Scotch with tartan doors and I'm sure there was a Wrigley. Can't remember the others ☹️
I was thinking that, its a shame most of the H vans have been brought by catering companies just to act as a non functioning outdoor event food and beverage van. It would be excellent if they were encouraged to put a engine of some sort and i will accept a electric conversion (not a big fan of classic EV conversions) as a alternative as the original engine isn't the best for these and then they could attend these events and maybe even offer beverages and food.
It just reminds me how no modern car could have the lifespan and versatility of the 2CV, even with today's modular platforms. I'm wondering if Chris Harris is in the club with his early one?
Great tour of the cars! At 25:47 I saw a pickup version in the background that didn’t get a mention. I’m sure there were a lot of diy van conversions but did they ever make a pickup 2CV or Dyane? 👍🏻

What a happy video! I've not been feeling too well all week but that's cheered me up no end, thanks Ian.
It's nice to see an H van which hasn't been converted into a coffee van!
That intro was incredible, sums up perfectly the 2CV vibe
Love the 5 minute intro! Awesome music, into the spirit of the event.
Really enjoyed the meet up. Went with my brother and his car was lucky enough to win the Disc category. Fabulous campsite and the weather helped!
What a lovely line up of 2CVs. Particularly loved seeing the Citroën Amis, always thought the design was the epitome of French! Top video.
I'm impressed to see several 2CVs with towbars. Must be quite sedate progress.
My first Citroen with a towbar was a Visa. I couldn't find one for sale, so I welded up my own.
Yeah, they're not swift when towing!
No matter how depressed you are a 2CV always makes you smile. I also see a bit of the Suzuki Samari SJ410 on the front of the Telol's.
Totally perfect vid. Great weather, great cars, great music.

I went to Worcester '98! I'd been a member for two years at that point. Quite a few of my friends were there too.
@@HubNut We missed each other by 10 years 🙂
Thanks for showing my ‘2CV Taxi’! A brilliant day and good to meet you both👍

Citroens everywhere. A festival of them. I couldn't judge on a winner. They all are winners. I like the Dyane models. Great cars.

The panpipes intro just cracked me up, watched too much Fast Show, when I was younger!
Brilliant!
Appropriate weather then - meteorologicos scochio.
Fantastic! I'm so A series obsessed now, and after watching this I'm going to take my Ami for an evening spin!
The Toyota Starlet made me smile, good effort. How to blag your way into a 2cv meet.
wonderfull -anything 2cv ticks my boxes
21:51 if anybody is interested the helicopter is a Sikorsky H34, better known in the UK as a Westland Wessex.
