About the Morris Minor:
The Morris Minor is an economy car produced by British marque Morris Motors between 1948 and 1971. It made its debut at the Earls Court Motor Show, London, in October 1948.
Designed under the leadership of Alec Issigonis, more than 1.6 million were manufactured in three series: the Series MM (1948 to 1953), the Series II (1952 to 1956), and the 1000 series (1956 to 1971).
Initially available as a two-door saloon and tourer (convertible), the range was expanded to include a four-door saloon from September 1950. An estate car with a wooden frame (the Traveller) was produced from October 1953 and panel van and pick-up truck variants from May 1953.
It was the first British car to sell over a million units, and is considered a classic example of automotive design, as well as typifying "Englishness".
Although Morris launched a new model with a similar name and a similar market positioning, the Morris Mini in 1959, the Minor remained in production for more than a decade after that, and in early 2020, its 23-year production run was counted as the twenty-eighth most long-lived single generation car in history by Autocar magazine, who called it: "... a primary way Britain got back on the road after the Second World War." - Авто та транспорт
🎼 Nothing could be finer than a classic Morris Minor...! 🎼
Great video as per usual! No music is just fine. I watch for the cars and commentary!
Thank you for your feedback! Aside from videos where client/sponsor specifically requests music, we will ensure it is not present on any future videos (excluding intro and outro jingle of course!)
I vote for No music to detract from the beauty of the cars, thank you for all you do. I really love the 50's and early 60's British cars.
Thank you for your feedback! Aside from videos where client/sponsor specifically requests music, we will ensure it is not present on any future videos (excluding intro and outro jingle of course!)
Such an amazing array of Morris Minors! 😍😍
Rest of internet has noise, quiet movies with talkover and reflections of beauty rocks thankyou
What a nice way to put it. Aside from intro/outro jingle we will be dropping music.
Absolutely adore the trouser suit Stephanie… Looks gorgeous on you sweetheart
Thanks! It’s NOS 70s
Nice to meet Ryan yesterday. Beautiful car...would love to own one some day when space permits
Brilliant video as always and nice to see some other Morris cars there
Love your outfit you look fabulous
Thank you! The outfit is from the 70s and was NOS Sears Catalogue. It was brought over from USA by a fellow Morris owner 😂
@@idriveaclassic it really suits you and I love the colours
@stuartsaunders4518 ah thank you. It wasn’t even that expensive. A modern suit would’ve cost a lot more
Hi grate video as usual from Moggy Mark and Sue I'm the chap on the treadle saw at the end thanks.
Great video Steph as always.
My dad had 3 over the year, an ex postie van, a saloon and a traveller. I've always had a soft spot for them but the nearest I got to owning one was my 1960 Riley 1.5.
Yes No background music Steph .Prefer you doing your excellent job interviewing and love of Morris Minors Brilliant 👍👍👍👍
Super video, Steph. It's incredible that there are so many Morris Minors still around. When I was little (mid 1960s) my parents' first car was a green 1954(!) model, split screen, 4-door. Reg - I still remember it - was SAE 606
That horn was my Little Blue. I closed the drivers door and the horn button partial came off and blasted the air horns 🤣
Oops
Hahahaha I love this. Thanks for making me laugh on the day x
Thank you for sharing this great video
You are so welcome
Thankyou for the video, you really had the weather too. I always miss this event for one reason or another in the calendar for next year
Come next year!
Steph, Fantastic video and enjoy your approach to all your reviews. I also think you look fantastic in your trouser outfit. Fab.
Great to meet you today @the great british car journey - thanks for organising and see you at FOTU!👍 I've thrown out a video of the day today so hope it meets with your approval 😃
Aw it was lovely to meet you too!!!! I cannot wait to watch the video xx
@@idriveaclassic Aw cheers - it was a bit thrown together as wanted to get it out on the day 🤣 especially for those folks who couldn't make it
My first car was a 1957 Morris 2door in Australia 🇦🇺. A few years back. One I like 2 find is the Oxford.
Yep, love that pick up! Love your gingham trouser suit, also brilliant.
Quite agree with a mix, from immaculate to scruffy to used to customised , to the favourite, which will be your own.
Thank you! It was NOS from Sears in America. John (owner of a morris minor) popped it in his luggage for me 😅
@@idriveaclassic classic and classy. 👍
Had a moggy for years our family car wife and 3 d daughters lovely exhaust sound if you took foot off throttle as you go under a rail railway bridge wow !!
Love the outfit steph!
Thank you! It was brand new out of the 70s packet the night before this video.
Keep up the good work ,loved it being a morry owner x2 over in Australia
Yay! 🎉
Really enjoyed this video. I was really enjoying your voiceover today Steph. I loved your little comments, the little stories and your thoughts about what we were seeing. Maybe that could be the way to go in the future.
Thank you. I worry about not being serious enough but I love walking you all round with me.
@@idriveaclassic There's no need to be too serious, just have fun and enjoy what you are doing.
@@johnjtm1097 it’s so hard because I always want to be taken seriously as a creator and I know some people see a woman and automatically think I’m an airhead. It’s a tough line to tread and get right.
@@idriveaclassic Well, IMO, you're every bit as good as the male owned channels I've seen on UA-cam, and also always a joy to watch.
@johnjtm1097 thank you ❤️❤️❤️
That's amazing, it looks like the first day release of " The all new Morris Minor " My favourites are the Woody Wagon and the convertible.
The biggest problem with new cars is obtaining information even if you can afford the equipment.
Put a Nissan motor and trans in it and use and keep the Morris all wrapped up and full of oil.
Nice to see all these Morris Minors still around and being used. I don't mind modified cars after all people have always modified certain makes and models of vehicles so to me it isn't a bad thing. I don't mind the video without music if that is what the majority want on the other hand just some quiet background music is also fine by me. A great video Steph and some interesting interviews with owners as well. 👍👍
Thank you for your feedback! Aside from videos where client/sponsor specifically requests music, we will ensure it is not present on any future videos (excluding intro and outro jingle of course!)
Hi Steph, Luv your vids, I remember the very first Morris Low light I saw it was in Twickenham around 1975 it belonged to the owners of an old fashioned grocers called Junes looked similar to Empire Green.
Thanx as always for a Super upload, I have after 45 years started making plastic car kits back then made the Monogram TR7,Capri,Firebird Turbo, just got back into the hobby for nostalgia and watched a channel called Monster Hobbies and it has the most comprehensive brush painting guide i've ever seen and and I luv the challenge of brush painting,
I now get a really good finish mixing 7 parts paint to 1 part thinner but he covers much more.
I make my models in Promo Style ie all body one colour just the chrome and tyres in there natural colours, they look arty sitting on the shelf, funny enough when I worked at the American Spares shop next to Wolfrace Wheels on Staples Corner London a customer had a Morris Minor with a Big Block olds engine around 6.6 litres.
Best wishes to yourself, family, friends and fellow viewers.
Thank you so much for watching and your lovely comment xx
@@idriveaclassic Hi Steph. Thank you and my pleasure, im in Germany now and they have somehow popped a few Opels in a shop front here in Lemgo, one is an Opel Admiral it's promoting a car show, we have a fair few local car shows here and some English cars though im still looking out for a Morris Minor, Best wishes.
Your advice of going for the later versions is spot on, slogging a early version and not even keeping up with the lorries is no fun and certainly doesn't do the car any good. I plan cross country trips avoiding motor ways as much as possible but it (seriously) can mean a trip that will take three times as long each way, which means best will in the world you miss out on a lot. Still small 50's motor's are so useable, and you do end up with a period experience but I miss Little Chefs 😅. Go for a 60 mph cruise capability even if it's only occasionally called on.
I prefer the quiet/your voiceover to the background music

I had a grey 2 door when I was at college in the early 80s and didn't think it was cool so I sold it. Bought I Spitfire to replace .Wish I had kept it now!! Great video.
Ahh noooo!!!!
Good video 👍👍👍
Thanks xx
What a wonderful array of colours, too. I think the most difficult decision for me (if the colour had been altered from the original colour so a re-paint would not be a sacrilege) would be choosing a colour that best suits the model. I like cream travellers and light grey 2-doors. But the choices!
I chose Ford midnight blue for mine (original paint was painted over a long while before she joined me) because I saw it on a morris years ago and loved it
Having to edit out background music to avoid rights problems-understand that one completely! Great video, ended way too soon (but we're biased).
Thanks John! We can’t wait for you to watch your car on the channel today x
@@idriveaclassic You and us both !! 😁
Best outfit so far ❤
Thank you! It’s NOS 70s 🥰🥰🥰
Well done for showing as many cars as possible.Prefer it without any music.

Awesome video and lovely outfit Steph. Always enjoy your Morris videos especially. Would love to see a video or post on your other Morris Minors sometimes. Keep the great content coming. 😊👍
Oh I’ve only got one! X
@@idriveaclassic Did you sell Martha and Bea
I saw Peggy there - I'd know those red wheels and rear wing seams anywhere!
7:51 last time I went to Mansfield it was still in Nottinghamshire... 😄
I didn’t do geography GCSE for a good reason 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Lovely tout Steph, Thank You :)
I loved your VO, it's fab. It's a shame that basckground music doesn't count as fair-use; it really should. Greedy bloody record companies.
It makes me so mad tbh. I had worried people hated the silence but apparently not!
My first car. 1962 Morri, thou. Nz slang.😅
well said Steph - I speak to people f2f whenever I can - some probably think I am a nutter but conversing helps my mental well being and most importantly I never forget that when you speak to someone you don't know that could be the only conversation they have all week
Precisely! I used to work from home and aside from the postie I might only see Fred all week :(
Madmog is my local group 😎
Just see my old Doris , near the pick up , Rose Taupe 2 door CEY833C
I quite like the absence of background music. I often find it distracting, especially if it's a tune I'm not keen on.
I found this video very interesting despite being a classic Alfa fan and owning a basic MK1 Escort.

I went on Sunday not as many people or cars there possibly as the weather wasn’t brilliant, did spot you and you looked a little talked out so just gave you a wave
Aw you should’ve popped over and said hello 😊
lol it was late on so I thought I’d give you a break, I dare say I’ll catch up with you
total silence plus you don't get in trouble steph!

I love the lack of background music. I prefer to hear you and the person you're speaking to.

I prefer it without background music but it seems to be a bit of a pain in the hoody-doody to have to filter all the other licensed music out. It wouldn't be a deal-breaker either way.
Great video! Don't see many Morris Minors here in the States. Is it my imagination, but do some of those cars use VW Beetle taillights?
No they should all be morris tail lights
Commenting on music or the lack of it, I think if you are voicing over, less is better, but I do like music if you are doing a montage or walk about with no commentary.
Its yous and mike deans fault i need anther Moggie 😎 (used to own a 64 2door called ferlicty DRC 906B ) would love to have her back
All those happy smiling 1000's! We have the 'modern' versions of the Mini and Fiat 500, I wonder how an 'updated' 1000 would sell? The British VW equivalent! Oh take me back to that era! No speed bumps or cameras, proper bumpers, DIY servicing, cheap parts. Sure I would Waxoil the whole underbody from new How did that Triumph Stag sneak in?!
By the way, what do you think of the electric conversions of classics, as seen on tv!
I am never going to be able to afford an electric conversion so I don’t really consider it.
As for electric itself, I think it forgets how many folk park their car each night in a place which wouldn’t be feasible to charge a car in; by the side of roads outside terraced housing for example.
Not everyone is fortunate enough to have a drive or garage and every motorist should have choice - so I support electric as a choice but not as the only choice.
Above background music I do prefer when you do a voiceover, having a little chinwag about the cars you're passing. You know us car people love to discuss our interest, so it's far more interesting hearing your view and impression even if it's just a little "I like this colour" or whatever it may be, rather than just walking by this car - this car - this car to background music.
And I want you to know that although I'm mostly into 'murican cars you're really starting to make me want a Minor! A 'murican car loving friend of mine recently bought a Mini, so one never knows what happens next....
Thanks for uploading!! Greetings from Sweden
Glad to know my brainwashing is working 😉😉😉😉 xx
What is the thing with the bike wheels, next to spud's car?
Errr I’ll have to go back and watch and check
I'm *definitely* a no background muzak supporter.

As usual, pause the video and straight onto ebay to see what's available! ;-) Regarding the music, I'm fine with none at all, especially if some multi-million dollar company is going to come along and steal YOUR money for accidentally airing ten seconds of their song. Cheers
Does anyone own XAD557, its still on the road apparently, used to belong to my mother
If you pop it into the DVLA you might get some joy x
I have left the Morris Minor Owners Club I refused to payl the exorbitant price for this year's rally at the Museum l am going to the Morris Register Rally instead a event l also attend every year excellent event and they don't charge for the evening entertainment
To clarify, it was £16 for a full weekend. This included the evening entertainment. The evening event wasn’t any additional charge on top, so I feel sad if you’ve missed out thinking it was charged.
I paid more for two cinema tickets on my last visit to the cinema in Leeds and the experience was over in two hours.
As an event host myself, the costs are enormous. I don’t think £16 for two days of entertainment is unreasonable when it included the evening entertainment, the museum entry and entry into all the other bits going on at the museum.
Sorry if you felt it was excessive and a reason to leave the club, but I politely disagree it was overpriced. Especially considering the costs of hosting and other days out.
situations can be out of your hands wherever you go,so all i can say is be carefull of licenced music if there is any or if possible, move to another spot maybe. it's not always that easy i know
Thing is, is I’d moved away from all music I’d be back in the car at home. Blooming music everywhere at these events nowadays.
like no muzic !
Thank you for your feedback! Aside from videos where client/sponsor specifically requests music, we will ensure it is not present on any future videos (excluding intro and outro jingle of course!)
NO to music!!
Morris Minor pet hates. Modern, non-original wheels. Metallic paint. Convertibles.
