Thank you for this video!! You’re a life saver. My daughter got a very similar kit from Barnes and Noble and the instructions were not clear. Now she can make animals to her hearts content!
Hi there i looked at quite a few video's before coming accoss yours, i must say your video was the best with finally getting the hang of it. thank you so much for a fantastic video. making a cute animal for the grandchildren.
On the farm ( 800 years ago!😉😂)We made them out of old wooden thread spools and granpa hemmered in 4 to 6 smaller nails, ( then used our chubby little fingers to do the rest.)… We made doll rugs, doll blankets, pot holders for gramma etc. …and had contests ,to see who could make the longest ones, ….We gave those to which to gramma ( one year we used them for garland, at Christmas!😊)… …Anything, to keep small hands busy, while grandma worked, until we could help with chores, instead of getting in the way of hot jars canning, lard making, and field work like planting bean seeds to climb up corn stocks, while they grew! … great times.. But,once a l decided to stop to lie down and play in the dirt, then fell asleep in between,a row of tall cornstalks, (scared my grandma to death,)… Yep, then I recieved my first real spanking and got sent to bed!… P.S. ….No supper till after everyone else ate, and I to sit “alone in shame,”at the kitchen tables …while all my cousins were laughing and helping do the dishes! ( which believe it or not, was quite an honor, for grandma to “ allow” us to help clean up, and be trusted to handle, her breakable, every day ceramic (read very heavy!dinner ware!)..! …I still have her cast iron pots and pans) …. Which my grand nieces are already fighting for, as at my age they do most of the cooking, while here, and I get spoiled ❤)… I probably will put slips of paper in a pot, and have them take equal turns pulling a slip out to see what they each get, of which pots and pans, for their Christmas presents this year!…( luck of the draw!) … I’m really excited to see the fun and hear them laughing, and bartering back and forth if they want the one the other one pulled the slip for first! … (I Have to say that as a child, I was very happy, that. “ whatever happened at Grandma’s STAYED at Grandma’s)… my parents were very much more strict, if they found out, we upset the grandparents, as they were older, and worked so hard as Immigrants from Italy, to make a good home in America for their children and family❤… Gappy Holidays all!
Thanks for the how to video I'm wanting to recreate the pleasant company Molly past time of the knitting Nelle/Nellie or Nancy doll hat and othee things to make for me and my doll
You can also thread the yarn needle fairly easily by wrapping the strand of yarn around the larger end of the needle, pinching it closely to the needle, and sliding the loop down to the thinner end of the needle, keeping your pinched fingers as close to the needle as possible. Slide the pinched yarn off the end of the needle and it will fit through the eye quite nicely. You can also thread the yarn "tails" into the inside of the tube to hide them using the yarn needle if you don't have a crochet hook. I love the idea of using pipe cleaners! Never thought of doing that!! Thanks for the tip.:)
Am thinking about getting that critter craft from Amazon but I have never tried knitting before but you made it look fun and you seem like my kind of person. Thank You for showing me how to do it the only problem I think I would have is tying it off when finished knitting.
Every time I try to spool knit, the material twists into curls, even when I keep the yarn fairly loose. Can you please help me figure out what I'm doing wrong?
Wow! He could make a TON of these little guys. orrr, bigger things, wrapped around basketballs or even bigger forms. I was thinking of trying to make a really really long cord and knitting it into a blanket or rug or something!! I bet he could make a big blanket with 5 shopping bags!!
What a clever way to quit smoking! With that much corking you could coil and stitch them into flat mats (like braided rag rugs) to use as trivets or rugs or a pet bed . . .
The one I'm using was passed down to me, but I have seen very similar ones by Lion Brand and Knitter's Pride (I saw some on amazon, but I bet they have something like them in your local craft store)
I made the simple one in the video with the toilet paper tube and Popsicle sticks, but if you had a wooden tube, you could add some stiff wire, or even nails, to make something a little prettier!! 😄

Also, your fun mannerisms made us smile because you remind us of a dear friend, also a crafter and all-around clever person.

Thanks! And I'll definitely try that needle-threading method!
I used to make these as a kid out of a soup can and popsicle sticks

I want to know what a hand/finger knit chunky blanket would look like if u used these/super long chain or icord to make it!?!
Oh it would look really cool and chunky, but it would take a LOT of yarn. Maybe a stash-busting project? If you had a massive stash!
You can make like candy cane Christmas tree ornaments snowman tree ornaments coaster for your drinks. Rugs.
Ooh that would be cute!
My husband has shopping bags full of corking. It helps with not smoking but now what can he do with 5 bags of corking?

Can make a video for drinks casters and candy canes?
Fun! I'll put that on my list!
The Christmas ornaments might have to wait until the winter though! I'm not quite in the Christmas mood again yet!! :)
What is brand
The one I'm using was passed down to me, but I have seen very similar ones by Lion Brand and Knitter's Pride (I saw some on amazon, but I bet they have something like them in your local craft store)
Did you make that spool yourself? looks cool!

Sorry I meant the Tiffany blue and purple one your holding in the beginning of the video. Thanks for getting back to me 🙂
Drea Richardz 😁 (that one IS pretty though. And nice to hold!!)
