page 199 of owners manual: The engine warning lamp lights up/flashes: Defect in fuel injection system. already checked all electrical connectors that you touched? grounds?
I finally figured it out. I snapped off the coolant temperature sensor which is next to the bleed screw on the right side of the engine. After researching the engine warning flashes (1 long, 2 short) I found a KTM RC8 R service manual that stated that the code means "Engine coolant temperature sensor - input signal too low, or Engine coolant temperature sensor - input signal too high". That led me to this sensor.
