Just my favourite Duran Duran track ever and of all time. I could listen to it on a loop and never tire of hearing it. It's beautifully written and performed.
So, so jealous of you! I've only seen them live a handful of times myself. Hopefully there will be many more opportunities when things go back to normal...
the layering of the instruments and vocals are what makes this band top of the game. I also love how they were unafraid to play with sounds most bands weren't at the time.. seriously the ocarina.. wow. Major talent. Happy 30th Reflex.
All the people here fascinated by this video performance from 1988 are so praiseworthy how to reach such an authentic strangeness... DURAN DURAN remain legendary musicians including Simon Le Bon who is beautiful and so talented.
Oh Gosh, they were sooo young (& so was I)!! Now I can see again why I was sooo in love with Simon, did you see his GORGEOUS face??? And hear his gorgeous voice? Of course I love the other members too! Their music, their style, their videos... Thank you Duran Duran, and thanks to 7thstranger for sharing this beauty with us :-)
Such a powerful piece of song writing.....so haunting it's etherial, transports you some place in the past, to the future far out into the cosmos.....Damn
greatest 80's song of all time. my first concert was duran duran. they sang all the hits except this one. it was an amazing show. would have been greatest show ever if he would have played the chauffeur
WOW!!! They remade their own song. Wouldn't think that such an electro song would work with horns, for example. But the jazzy, noir-ish intro suits the song's mysterious ambience perfectly. Kudos
The great Duran Duran no limit to their talent the gorgeous Simon 30+ in the business wow why aren't they in themusic hall of fame there's lot less talented groups in there.
I've come up with a totaly different story after listening to it closely. The story is about a weathy woman, her daughter and their Chauffeur. It starts off as the daughter prefers to sit in the front seat with the chauffeur instead of the back seat with her domineering mother. He notices how lady-like and charming as she sits besides him. As he drives the two to their destination he starts to daydream of the perfect moment with her. He looks up at the rear view mirror and sees her envied mother holding her fast in her gaze. When they finally arrive at the destination the chauffeur opens the door and notices the daughter smiling at him as would lovers. The mother yanks her daughter away and looks at chauffeur with mean and cruel eyes. As the Chauffeur stands there watching them walk into the distance, leaving him further behind. :) That's the actual story. :)
Just my favourite Duran Duran track ever and of all time. I could listen to it on a loop and never tire of hearing it. It's beautifully written and performed.
Not just my favorite Duran Duran song of all time, but my favorite song of all time. DD4ever

My fav too when I was 15 but this version is just is lame, let us admit.
This version is just so beautiful... Mesmerising ❤️❤️❤️
This song is so hypnotic. This version is really awesome.
Jaime Ellen-Grace is true!!i agree with you
Magnífica versión!
yes truly awesome
Qui siamo su un altro pianeta!
Simon's voice is so amazing. I remember seeing them in concert at the ripe age of 11 in the 80's. They are still simply the best
L'assolo con l'ocarina è una delle cose migliori degli anni '80
Yes, baby. That's live! Seen them over 40 times! His voice is one of the greatest!
So, so jealous of you! I've only seen them live a handful of times myself. Hopefully there will be many more opportunities when things go back to normal...
Nick Rhodes is the most underrated programmer.
Nick is so freaking awesome on the keyboard, some of his best work, he has been my favorite in the group 😍😍
the layering of the instruments and vocals are what makes this band top of the game. I also love how they were unafraid to play with sounds most bands weren't at the time.. seriously the ocarina.. wow. Major talent. Happy 30th Reflex.
I still can't get over the spiritual feeling that comes over me EVERY time I hear this song!
The best song they ever did - relatively unknown when compared with their massive hits though - superb!!!
Oh my...so sensual, suave & hauntingly beautiful as it not only pertains to the song but also to their magnetism.... oh yes!!
Lovely song. Slept many, many times with it. It was my Lullaby.
Fucking amazing. This song drips sensuality. I had no idea Simon played the ocarina so well!
Duran Duran is forever and this clip version is divine...
Very good video...
OMG... *goosebumps*
Also, can we rub this in the faces of the misguided people who dismiss DD as a "pretty boys band"? :D
Yes we can! 👍😎
What a unique and beautiful version of The Chauffeur. I LOVE it.
I love this versions, its perfection 🎶🎵
Wow, I had no idea Simon Le Bon played that flute part on an ocarina.

Simon's voice is magical...

Chills down my spine.. I was born in 1988, and I love the remix Deftones did, which is how I ended up finding this vid.
I had such a huge crush on Simon when I was a teenager🥰
Me too. A big crush
Magica versione Stupenda
L'intro jazz che sfuma nel tema della tastiera è cosa buona.
Senza tempo...sempre bella ed affascinante ! Everytime is better then before time...
Excellent version....of a great great track
Spot On! watching Le Bon´s long fingers playing that whistle...it`s made me all hot!!
greatest 80's song of all time. my first concert was duran duran. they sang all the hits except this one. it was an amazing show. would have been greatest show ever if he would have played the chauffeur

I miss the 80's. Wish I was a young man at that time instead of toddler.
Love 💘

Absolutely amazing version :-O
Best version of "The chaffeur" everm and one of the best songs ever too.
Wonderful!!
Beautifully performed
Out on the tar plains, the glides are moving
All looking for a new place to drive
You sit beside me so newly charming
Sweating dewdrops glisten freshing your side
[Chorus]
And the sun drips down bedding heavy behind
The front of your dress, all shadowy lined
And the droning engine throbs in time
With your beating heart
Way down the lane away, living for another day
The aphids swarm up in the drifting haze
Swim seagull in the sky towards that hollow western isle
My envied lady holds you fast in her gaze
[Chorus:Repeat x2]
Sing Blue Silver
And watching lovers part, I feel you smiling
What glass splinters lie so deep in your mind
To tear out from your eyes, with a thought to stiffen brooding lies
And I'll only watch you leave me further behind
[Chorus:Repeat x2]
Sing Blue Silver
Sing, sing, Blue Silver
(There's more to this kind of camouflage... more than just color and shape)
(What's crawling now... in the long grass near my tent?)
