+steven batty What man? Most single releases are rubbish and rarely the best tracks on an collection. Regardless, Simple Minds' Hunter and the Hnted with that award in my subjective world.
O.O the fact he is signing THAT good..while in THAT position...ladies and gentlemen let me introduce you to a amazingly talented musican named Simon LeBon
The part I like most is during Planet Earth, when he uses all his energy and concentration to save the fans with the Jedi Force Lighting and still manage to sing! What a great performer!
And I can't believe you just replied to this comment TODAY! I heard a cover of this song on Pandora on my way to work today! I think I haven't listened to this song since I last wrote that comment a couple years ago! I think the universe is trying to send me a message through this song today haha.
Actually this was taped over 3 days and the Oakland Col. Arena... hence Arena A Absurd notion. The first two days where the "live" parts where done and then the others where done in front a very select small crowd. I was lucky to get tickets to that they where handed out to very few..I was there All three nights
@@BarrySlisk Arcadia - my all-time fave album. ARENA is 20th. my band is looking for a producer of our 1st album. contact me at facebook: Dondon Mollaneda.
This is, by far, my absolute favorite song by Duran Duran. Those of us who are old enough to remember that this was one of the sexiest and most sensual songs of its day. It still holds up. Absolutely brilliant!
i buy Arena when i was 15 , my first album ... my treasure today .. so beautiful song ... i remember that anybody in my family understud me at that time ... but wow 23 year later i still have this vinyl ... and i still love duran duran .. duranie forever
I am 40 years old and have seen DD more than any other band in my life....they were sooo ahead of their time...and this song , hand down one of the best!!! Looking forward to seeing them in a few weeks here in Denver....LONG LIVE Duran Duran!!
I saw DD in 1984 in Hampton, Virginia . My sister and I were lucky enough to be really close to the stage. Till this s day, this was the BEST CONCERT I have ever been to. These guys put on an awesome show!!! Absolutely love this song and Simon Le Bon is a sexy , extremely talented front man!¡ #Duranie for Life!!
This song is sexy, mysterious, and I love it ❤. This video is awesome! I can't believe it's live too! Simon's voice, his performance, everything! Everything is perfect! 👏👏
Danii Cat I think it was separately filmed Dani and then added to the show for effects on documentary they made ! It was the 80s at it's hedonistic height pure good times and indulgence. I loved growing up in the 80s
Davied lebonnie7 Yeah! now I'm thinking about the possibility of being filmed separately. But even so, this video is still wonderful! I wish I had grown up in the 80's too! If I could have a time machine... Haha
Danii Cat ah ! Danii you would surely loved these times Artistic and lavish! I remember goin to niteclubs at the time and no one hardly went out for trouble , they went out to out pose each other 😍😎🤣 I used to be Simon le bon lookalike , so if ye pick me up in your time machine I'll be wearing a beige suit white shoes I'll have blonde streaked hair and guy liner on 😍😃🤣😎
I listend to JD singing this and then listend to this version. This is how it should be done JD...take note. THis song is a classic but not of the 80s. Its frankly as good as the best Beatles or Stones stuff. This is a haunting and moving piece of music that DD are best at and really what makes them so much more than teeny boppers. Who at that time can produce a track in this calibre. One song i will hear till im an old man. Thanks for the music duran.
Simon Le Bon is a god ...his voice is amazing and even now sounds the same as it always has. I'm a proud Duranie since age 11(25 years ago.....haha) This song is probably my favorite....so many memories

I love how the setup of the concert makes it look like all that stuff is actually happening behind the stage...this was such a visually creative show, I hope "As The Lights Go Down" gets officially released on DVD eventually....
I'm jealous! What a performance! I saw it one time where he wore a chauffer's hat and sat on a stool w/ a blue light. 3rd fav song, probably tied w/ 7th.
Maybe I added this comment already but I bought this when I was about 11 years old because I love the reflex. I didn’t listen to any of the other songs until I was in my 20s and then I found the chauffeur. It’s been one of my favorite songs of all time ever since, especially this particular recording for some reason I just love this version. Long live Duran Duran!
I was 10 years old when my father bought me my first tape, Duran Duran "Arena": thanks daddy, that day I knew what is "THE MUSIC", DD forever in my heart !
Even people who don’t like 80s synth pop love this song. One of the greatest songs ever written. This live version is even better than the original version on the Rio album.
Quando ho visto questo concerto in tv ero un bambino pazzo dei duran duran...sono contento di aver vissuto questa era...troppo bella...canzone del secolo secondo me...mi viene da piangere...bellissimi ricordi
I always thought this to be the best from the Rio album, it just has a huge great sinister feel to it. And the the keyboard theme seems to be able to go on and on and on....its like a farewell to the world in the most beautiful way
to this day none of my old metalhead friends could understand why i would see DD every time they came 'round, well lets see fantastic music, great shows, and oh,yeah- the audience was full 70% love-sick girlies. not until bonjovi was there such a target rich environment. thanks DD!~!
I used to listen to this in the mid-eightties at the same time when i was diggin anthrax, suicidal tndencies, kreator and so on..of course i didnt tell my moshing friends about this..
Jonathan Davis' version brought me here. How the hell do I not remember this song? Grew up loving Duran Duran. Guess I need to revisit their catalog then. Beautiful song.
Probably the best song never released as a single.
+steven batty What man? Most single releases are rubbish and rarely the best tracks on an collection. Regardless, Simple Minds' Hunter and the Hnted with that award in my subjective world.
+Exxcalibur S Nobody ever gives Hunter and the Hunted the credit it deserves!! I'm so happy there are others who feel the same.
steven batty Hold back the ☔️ as well, that's a serious banger.
steven batty but wasn't that tour called the "Sing Blue Silver" tour?
That and "The Chain" by Fleetwood Mac!
I'm still waiting for someone to build a Time Machine and get me back to the '80s!
If you find that person let me know! I wanna go too! 😉
It was pretty awesome.
Take me, too.😊
The instrumantal part in this song is just incredible, one of the best ever!

This song is timeless. Even after almost 40 years it sounds fresh, unique, and amazing. The lyrics are so clever and the flute piece to close is epic.

I thought he was lip synching! I thought there is no way he is singing like that. I can't even talk like that!
I can't believe this is live. Why aren't performances today put together so beautifully anymore!
hekewika...I know! It makes me sad that I'm not still in 1984 & that I missed this concert. :*-(

Nick Rhodes skills are proven in this song so well. He’s a legend.
Only true Durannies will 'get' this video. Thank you for whomever posted this.
It's one of those songs you enjoy most while in a laying position with your limbs stretching awkwardly.
I will never forget the first time I saw this concert. ::shiver:: I still love this song!

Duran Duran -
The Chauffeur
Out on the tar plains
The glides are moving
All looking for a
New place to drive
You sit beside me
So newly charming
Sweating dew drops glisten
Freshing your side
And the sun drips down
Bedding heavy behind
The front of your dress all
Shadowy-lined
And the droning engine
Throbs in time
With your beating heart
Way down the lane away
Living for another day
The aphids swarm up in the
Drifting haze
Swim seagull in the sky
Towards that hollow
Western isle
My envied lady holds you
Fast in her gaze
And the sun drips down
Bedding heavy behind
The front of your dress all
Shadowy-lined
And the droning engine
Throbs in time
With your beating heart
And the sun drips down
Bedding heavy behind
The front of your dress all
Shadowy-lined
And the droning engine
Throbs in time
With your beating heart
Sing
Blue
Silver
And watching lovers part
I feel you smiling
What glass splinters lie
So deep in your mind
To tear out from your eyes
With a thought to stiffen
Brooding lies
And I'll only watch you leave
Me further behind
And the sun drips down
Bedding heavy behind
The front of your dress all
Shadowy-lined
And the droning engine
Throbs in time
With your beating heart
And the sun drips down
Bedding heavy behind
The front of your dress all
Shadowy-lined
And the droning engine
Throbs in time
With your beating heart
Sing
Blue
Silver
Sing
Sing
Blue
Silver

This is what the eighties had to offer! To bad it al seems to have dissapeared in the last decades
So many covers of this song. Some are good, others are bad. But this one is still the greatest. Even after all these crazy years!
What a frontman, unbelievable. You don't have a guy like this these days.
Saw them at Reunion Arena in Dallas in 84. Frickin awesome concert. Saw them also at Six Flags in 86. One of the best bands of the 80's.
the best song of Duran Duran ever
One of their BEST songs...EVER
I totally agree it was so sad to see them written off as a teen or boyband...in my opinion one of the most underestermated bands ever.
