I New Order sono un gruppo musicale britannico formatosi nel 1980.
I New Order si sono formati in seguito allo scioglimento del loro gruppo precedente, i Joy Division, dopo il suicidio del cantante Ian Curtis. La formazione originale del gruppo era composta da Bernard Sumner (voce, chitarra, sintetizzatori), Peter Hook (basso, cori, batteria elettronica) e Stephen Morris (batteria, sintetizzatori).
Al nuovo gruppo si unì presto la tastierista Gillian Gilbert (che lascia il gruppo nel 2001 per poi rientrare nel 2011).

Adoro i New Order anche se, i "puristi"(dark e post-punk) credono che, dopo i Joy Division, non c'è storia, che senza Ian Curtis i J.D. siano completamente finiti e che i New Order abbiano solo un po' giocato con le sonorità elettroniche e i sintetizzatori. Io, invece, li trovo altrettanto interessanti e che abbiano continuato a lavorare sul messaggio che volevano trasmettere con Ian e i J.D, semplicemente usando un'altra chiave. Trovo che siano l'altra faccia dei Joy, perché il suono, che apparentemente è più allegro, nasconde la stessa malinconia che contraddistingue i brani dei Joy Division. 🖤❤️🖤❤️🖤
Ottima riflessione. Come i Depeche Mode hanno impreziosito i loro pezzi con l'elettronica. Questa è stata una loro invenzione che ha aperto la strada a nuove forme di sonorità, oggi purtroppo degradate. Ahimè...

comunque una piccola chicca che in realtà è ben famosa.
I membri dei Joy Division fecero un patto: qualora uno dei 4 membri (Ian, Bernard, Peter, Stephen) avesse dovuto abbandonare il gruppo, per qualsiasi motivo, i restanti avrebbero dovuto riformare un nuovo gruppo con un nome differente. Eventualmente anche cambiare genere.
Ecco perchè abbiamo i New Order il cui gruppo originale era composto da Bernard Sumner, Peter Hook, Stephen Morris e Gillian Gilbert.
