You have no idea how much you have helped me! I have never liked cooking. I get major anxiety in the early afternoons because I realize dinner is right around the corner and I haven't planned anything. We have never had a lot of money so getting creative with meals was just too hard for me and I resorted to cheap already made meals for most of the time. I hated it. Your videos sparked some kind of weird inspiration in me and I have been doing freezer meals and meal prepping like mad around here for the last 3 weeks. My family of 5 has never been so excited for breakfast, lunch AND dinner! I've kinda become obsessed but I'm so happy about it and always look forward to your videos. Thank you so much for being awesome!
In the UK what you call apple crisp we call Apple crumble and those are the exact proportions I use, you are right it is a great flavour. The same topping works with plums or rhubarb or apple and blackberry.
@@loveGG3 I'm also subscribed to both channels, I prefer the original, but I do watch the new one. I've watched other 'mommy bloggers' but I think Christine is the best. I'm subscribed to her and also our tribe of many, I think Christine is my favourite of the two.
@@rangerlove7 I've started working on the fit, I've been walking 2km a day for the past 3 weeks, it doesn't sound like much but coming from a zero baseline it seems like a lot. I've been saying I get to walk today not I have to walk today. It's something Christine said in one of her videos, so I'm using it to try and change my mindset.
Oh yes I eat apple or berry crisp for breakfast! I will even sometimes make it with more oats and less sugar to make it specifically for a breakfast dish rather than a dessert. Yum!
I’d love a video where you and Dave share your marriage tips and struggles. You guys seem to have a great relationship. I vaguely remember a Q and A video where you shared how you met, but I have forgotten the details. A new marriage video might make a great Valentines Day special. Thanks!
Get 2 plastic lids and place your small tomatoes or grapes in between the lids. Hold lid down and slice through them all...so much easier than individual.
I love your videos so much. My Mom mainly cooked out of a box and didn't experiment with foods when I was growing up, so now being a Mom to two boys I love learning new skills and recipes to try and make foods they'll eat. You've helped so much!
The best way to cook frozen sprouts for me is to boil them for just a couple of minutes then toss around in a skillet with bacon grease and butter or just butter if u wish. A little sprinkle of sugar is great too! Love your channel❤❤
A lot of cooking videos on UA-cam have this crazy techno music in the background, it’s always been a pet peeve of mine, like are we going to a rave or making meatloaf? But I LOVE the music you choose, it’s so unique. Much more enjoyable. 😊
Thank you for a good laugh! There are a lot of things I appreciate about your channel, Christine. But my favorite are: the fact you cook meals that are budget-friendly AND healthy at the same time. How down to earth you and your family are. and your sense of humor. Cheers!
Gotta say your family is the BEST!!! Very few pre/teenagers (also most hubs!) would put up with both sides being 'funky' veggies (although I'd be ALL-IN!!). Good on you for raising four kids who like veggies!!!
That's the great thing about being a grown up, if you want to eat dessert for breakfast, nobody can stop you! Also.. That apple crisp looks ahmazeballs!
I woke up early today to assemble the crisp. It was done by the time I finished getting ready for work. I added some plain Greek yogurt to the top and it was the perfect breakfast meal. Thanks for sharing. My family loved it.
I love your channel. I like when you actually go to your freezer and pantry to see what you have and then make something on the fly. It inspires me to see what I have that I can make.
Great video! Loving the increase in veggies on the plate. In Australia we are recommended to eat lots of veggies. Lots of colour on the plate= nutrition. I will try the loin in the slow cooker as it sliced beautifully!
I love the pasta pot too. I have a similar one. Got mine at a estate sale for $2! And it was my neibours house so I knew where it came from. Best deal ever!
We always get frozen Brussels sprouts (Aldi does them in Belgium), but we boil them in a pot of water. And there's nothing wrong with them, taste just as good as fresh (even better). No cleaning them, just open the bag and plop them in the water and then just the little plastic bag to get rid of. But this is (of course) just my experience.
I did a partial clean out two nights ago. I'll continue through the weekend. It's nice to see ahead and know there are meals just waiting to be made. Thank you for posting. 🙂
I do buy frozen brussels sprouts but you have to cook longer....or i do. Fresh ones i slice up(shred like), mix with bacon fat or avocado oil, salt, pepper and garlic powder and lay out on sheet pan. I bake 375-400 until they are somewhat caramelized like we like them.( Stir a couple times along if cooking a lot of them). For frozen i do the same -slice them up. Put on sheet pan and cook till the water has cooked out and they've dried. Then i do the oil and seasonings and cook till browned like i want.
just love how we cook the same well close to it and live in completely different countries (Australia for me). I too love salad mixes.. i have been using the slaw mixes in chow main and sanchoy bow recipes.. it works so well.. our stores have clued on and now have soooo many varieties now you don't need to cut anything..for those who need to hide veggies grab the veggie rices and mix in bolognaise sauces and in your meat balls. thank you for your constant inspiration
YAAAAAASSS salad kits! they've really eased up putting dinner together for us. lately we've made sheet pan meats ( wings, meat balls, chicken tenders, etc.) with a salad kit and it's always good!
I stretch a salad kit by chopping up an extra head of romaine lettuce as the dressing is usually more than enough. It goes from a salad for 3 to 5 people.
This video dropped when I was at work. I popped it on my watch later. I can’t miss a Christine “what’s for dinner” video! Those salads looked so awesome!
We do those skillet veggies with chicken and soba noodles (we get the 5 pound bag and separate them into 1/2 pound bags and the freeze beautifully) 10/10 super good meal
Love the apple crisp logic - it's exactly how I feel & make it with the hopes that there is some left for breakfast! I grew up eating it warm with milk (not ice cream) so it only made sense. I feel it's the same as apple oatmeal.
Especially yummy recipes. I love that potato peeler. My DIL had one like it but had gotten it as a promo from her dad’s company. I was so excited when you had it listed in your kitchen must-haves.
I tried this ragu recipe and it was delicious. Made a few changes though. A sprinkle of sugar and a healthy amount of white wine vinegar will take it to the next level. I also sunk the baby spinach from my Misfits Market box into it. Delicious!
Apple crisp for breakfast is one of the joys of being a grown up. Plus, it's probably no different nutrition wise than a couple apple cinnamon oatmeal packets.
I think it might have just been the box you bought. I make bacon maple syrup brussel sprouts from scratch using frozen brussel sprouts and it's delicious.
Christine, I love your story about Dave's reaction when you were eating this for breakfast. I have a recipe for an Ice Cream Cake. It has an Oreo Cookie crust, then half a gallon of ice cream (any flavor, although my family's favorite is mint chocolate chip). Then spread the softened ice cream over the crust. Then after it spends time in the freezer to firm back up, it gets topped with a yummy homemade (a part of the recipe) chocolate fudge topping. My best friend had some years ago & loved it. Now she makes for a lot of her family's celebrations. Guess what she does it there are leftovers ---- she eats it for breakfast!!! Your story about Dave made me laugh & think of my friend, so I had to share the story. BTW the Apple crisp recipe looks awesome! I can't wait to try it!!!
I found that if you put the frozen veggies in the air fryer they come out better than if you put them in the oven. Something to maybe check out an experiment with but we’ve had some good luck with it and we now have an air fryer because of you my sister had mentioned wanting to get one so I’ll look to see what kind you had and I didn’t buy the exact one you have she has the black version but because of you and Jen she has one. She loves it and now she’s on this beach body coaching regiment that she does and she loves it where she works out every morning or every evening depending upon your schedule because she is now a stay at home mom. But she still earning some money from the beach body and from her fellowships so it’s really great and I’ve enjoyed sharing some tips of yours with her but I had to very gently.

I would say that my mom's apple crisp recipe is better, but I checked your recipe and the truth is we use the same one. Cheers to the best apple crisp!
We started having leftover birthday cake the day after a birthday instead of having a sugary breakfast the day of the birthday. It's nutritionally no different than a donut!

Apple crumble in Australia too
Apple crisp for breakfast is the best!!!! So are brownies or left over birthday cake. 😉

Apple Crisp = Cooked Oatmeal with Apples. The crisp just tastes better!
