No one ever called pre-industrial housewives weak! Between kneading bread, beating carpets, scrubbing laundry and wringing wet items, and gardening, women pre-Industrial Revolution (c. 1825 ish in the US) could probably beat The Hulk in arm wrestling.
And I STILL haven't tried that banana muffin recipe! Gotta try that!

I think taking some shortcuts like the muffin mixes especially when you find them on clearance is great. Even though it probably cost a little more than making from scratch it's definitely much less expensive than stopping and grabbing muffins at the bakery as a quick snack on the fly. I'm all about supermarket shortcuts! Broccoli and asparagus are two of my favorites! I tend to buy frozen broccoli however as it is easier for me. I am disabled from a stroke and only have the use of one arm so having to cut things in the kitchen is a challenge for me. I also take a blood thinner so I really have to be extra careful around sharp objects. I make my broccoli just doing the steam in the bag and my asparagus I put in a shallow baking dish in about an inch or so of water cover it with plastic wrap vent the corner and cook it in the microwave for 2 to 6 minutes depending upon how big the asparagus spears are around. It's delicious and keeps the asparagus nice and tender and also retains its color and does not shrivel up like it does when cooked in the air fryer. I had a sprinkle of salt and pepper and a little bit of garlic powder sometimes as well as a drizzle of olive oil. I buy those sliced frozen strawberries from Sam's Club all the time. I don't use them in smoothies but I do really enjoy them. I want to get a yonanas since I am an ice cream fanatic and I think it might help crush my craving for ice cream. What do you think!?!?

so super weird tip for your cracked skin - clean and disinfect the crack really well - make sure it is really dry then super glue it shut. I had a crack in my foot I could not get to heal for months ( and it was deep ) and this is how I got it to heal up. My husband used to work on printing presses and couldn't wear bandaids - it's an old trick they used to use for cuts, especially those nasty paper cuts. :)

O'Keefe's Working Hands is amazing for cracked hands. Happens to me in the winter, with the dry hot air inside. The texture is like shortening not like a cream or lotion. I scoop out a bit and rub it on top of my hands (not my palms) and let it sink in. If I do that overnight, the difference the next morning is immediately visible.

Little tip, most grocery stores will trim your asparagus for you which will save you some time & money since you pay per pound. The woody part of the stem is usually only about 1-2 inches, you take what you want to buy & bring it to the person working in the produce departmentp, you just hand the asparagus to them & say hey would you mind trimming this for me & they will cut the ends off for you so you don't end up paying for what you can't eat.

Asparagus (steamed) in a sauce of sesame oil and soy sauce or tamari sauce is delicious!

I have dry sensitive skin- commercial moisturizers have never worked. I use tallow(cow fat) and it’s amazing! Just add a little essential oil to cover up the smell. You can buy it on Amazon, I don’t render it. I’ve heard it’s also good for making French fries 😂

    Re: cracked knuckles
    - REALLY drying your hands
    - O’keefe’s working hands (the solid not the lotion)
the only thing that works for me.

Peel and eat the stocks. I love them. They are not as bitter as the florets.

Christine, I live in the Sonoran desert and I have dry skin too. I use Eucerin eczema cream as my daily moisturizer and I haven't had a single problem since I started using it.

@@gailmiler2797 I've tried it and I didn't get as good a result as with Eucerin.

I bought that Tony’s creole seasoning for the 1st time recently. I nearly sent my family to the hospital with burns on their tongues lol. Maybe season slightly less liberally than salt if not used to it lol

I have eczema and I use glycerin and rosewater for my dry hands. It is the only thing that works for me. I use 3 parts glycerin to 1 part rosewater.
