There needs to be more education on this topic with the public, or police need to give people citations or fines when they see people passing the gate arms while its down. @@eastbaykidd8574 Overpasses are better. Europe did construct them over decades over high speed rail lines and they did construct underpasses too. For Florida, overpasses over railroad tracks make good sense.
I cannot believe that anyone has an opinion that the trains are at fault. As long as drivers and pedestrians think that they're special and don't have to follow the established protocols, this will sadly continue. If you notice, railway lines are a right of way. Roads cross railroads, railroads do not cross roads. That's why trains don't have lights to stop for cars but cars do have to stop for trains. The reason that most European countries, where trains are much more prevalent, don't have this issue as much is that the infrastructure was built in the late 1800s and early 1900s and the crossings are usually bridges or tunnels and sometimes level crossings.

The gates are set up for a certain distance for the max speed allowed on that line. Example. In Delray, max is 79 mph. So all gates are geared for a train operating at 79 mph. If a slow freight comes, you wait longer. If a train exceeded 79 and was at 90, the gates wouldn't go down with enough time. Hence, there has never been an accident with Brightline that involved a defective gate. It has always been the pedestrian or car/ truck driver. It's very obvious that the fire truck went around the gates.
Yeahh duhh 😂 some Crossings have the speed predictor, so the crossing always goes down 20 Seconds before the train hits the road no matter how fast its going or how slow its going
Yes most crossings in the US are designed for the max speed that a train can run in that track and have systems in place that can gauge the trains speed to time the crossings to activate around half a minute before a train reaches the crossing
If anyone ever took the time to study European and Asian high-speed trains, along their routes there are NO road or pedestrian crossings on the track. But that's too expensive here. Best to.use road crossings and if you lose a few lives, cost of doing business. That's how we operate.

How many of these crossings could be replaced by bridges, if the state actually did something about it?
Most but not all a good 60% at minimum the rest would need a complete overhaul which would mean eminent domain on alot of business in the area but for the most part All if the state really wanted to
If you noticed in-between the lanes there are those white poles, emergency personnel are trained how to drive over those white sticks (they separate the lanes in other areas , and not only at railroad crossings.) It was apparent that the fire truck was not driving over those white sticks and was thus hindered by those pesky crossing arm guards. Once again, I have to ask, where are the overpasses in Florida to keep something like this from happening. We need to look at our state's legislators, they're also responsible. How is the money being spent in Florida? Is the money going to infrastructure and public safety, or is it going into someone's pockets?
While I agree that, yes, most if not all these crashes are the fault of drivers and not the train, I do agree that Brightline does have a role to play in safety. Wishing people would be smarter is a horrible way of solving things. I don't want my friends or family members to die because they did something stupid or in the moment when they were frustrated because of traffic. Do what most foreign countries do: remove some grade crossings and have trains run on reduce speed when passing into urban areas. Even the TGV has a few grade crossings only in large towns, they pass through them at a reduce speed and no body gets hurt.
Call them deadliest trains and don't call drivers in Florida the most ignorant drivers... Anyone who drove in Florida knows why insurance companies are leaving the state.
@@SilkyTrains 100% agree. I was a teenager in Florida when I got my license so learning to drive there and deal with the idiots helped me to be a good driver all over the country.
Drivers there have been lulled into if it’s a freight train going 30 mph they can get across the tracks with gates down. Freight trains are much much longer so it’s a much longer crossing wait time. Thus worth the risk to go around the gates. Not all trains are made alike. Faster but shorter Brightline is certainly worth the very short crossing wait.
Ok so only one of the gate arms were down as the train was how far from that crossing and going how fast? Correct me if I'm wrong but shouldn't all of the arms have been down at least 30 seconds to a minute before the train crossed? For that matter I'm sorry but who's bright idea was it route a train that goes between 70 and 120 mph through a bunch of residential and urban areas? You know maybe in hind sight it would have made more sense to maybe elevate the railway through those areas to avoid the risk of pedestrians and cars getting in the way?
Europe has done this for decades with great success. American drivers are in too much of a hurry...Brightline will slow you down permanently. Just try it as others have. They will not celebrate ringing in 2025.
The railroad was there long before the people moved in. Maybe brightline should just close off all the roads crossing their property with concrete barriers
Both gates were down. Look again carefully. Both gates are clearly down blocking traffic on both sides. The fire truck went around on the oncoming lane where certain crossings are not double gated and not necessarily required to have.
@@markydee48 Yeah, I caught that in the other video WPTV released. In the end this all boils down to a half assed infrastructure that doesn't go just that little extra bit to idiot proof things.
@SpartanRailFanNope, Brightline locos as most every other locomotive I have run over the last 20 years have the flashing tied to the horn with a shut off timer. Only NS has a switch to flash the ditch lights manually. Having them tied to the bell would cause undesirable flashing like in shops and yards.
Overpasses should have replaced all level track crossings when Brightline was building it's line in. Also does not help that the urban area is building up. The next collision might involve a large tanker truck full of gasoline
Having crossed the Brightline crossing many times, it would cost a lot to build overpasses. Your talking about a 4 lane street right next to the RR and many, many business. Not a hell of a lot of room, so each overpass would cost millions.
A 4-year-old kid even knows to look before crossing the tracks. People are stupid to go around crossing gates. Trains have the right of way so it's not Brightline's fault. It's not like the train can swerve or stop instantly.
The simple fact is a lot of the people around the railroad are stupid and either drive onto the crossing when a train is coming or even worse stop on the crossing, it’s not Brightlines fault that people are stupi
How about grade separation like they should have done in the first place. Only an idiot would think sending a fast train down both at grade crossings inside quiet zones would be a good idea. Anyone should have seen this coming as we all know people don't listen to crossing lights or gates.
For those 100 years brightline has been their for around 7 which gives drivers especially new ones even less of an excuse to get hit by brightline who is never at fault bc Drivers especially floridians are dumb
How does this happen. People are dumb…. That’s literally the only issue there is nothing a train driver, railroad, government whatever can do and that applies to every nation even japan and France.
The push for high speed railways..... Americans are not and never will be ready....i worked on a regional railway and shortline, combined 21 years....i have been on switch jobs moving under 10 mph that hit cars....

They need to install very cheap in pavement warning lighting. They may have to install modified crosswalk signals that count down to the next train crossing.
@jameylane1591 Why is it so hard to wait a few seconds for the gate to come up? Is it worth it to risk your life? Where's the common sense? Why do we have brains? and 3553 people were killed in car accidents in florida in 2022
All 125 deaths ARE NOT Brightline's fault.
Call them deadliest trains and don't call drivers in Florida the most ignorant drivers... Anyone who drove in Florida knows why insurance companies are leaving the state.
Florida: the place where everyone is ignorant drivers!
Because people break the law by driving around the gates and not paying attention
@@markydee48 Maybe not required but a little bit of idiot proofing can go a long way.
@@markydee48 Yeah, I caught that in the other video WPTV released. In the end this all boils down to a half assed infrastructure that doesn't go just that little extra bit to idiot proof things.
What a bunch of idiots, stay off the tracks. The train is not deadly the idiots driving in front of trains are.
1980 s style grade crossings on a high speed train line! Same engineres would put a concrete wall at the end of a runway !?
If you are not on the tracks, you cant be hit by a train..........
There is so many no horn zones which basically reduces safety and warning that it’s coming
And the flashing ditch lights are tied to the horn so they do not flash in quiet zones.
@ I’m pretty sure it’s the bell actually
Some lawyers will make lots of money saying the passengers injuries are sore backs, sore arms, life threatening injuries, etc.
Not all of Brightline's fatalities are crossing incidents. Many are pedestrians with a good number of them being ruled as suicides.
note to self when gates are down don't cross the track's
The simple fact is a lot of the people around the railroad are stupid and either drive onto the crossing when a train is coming or even worse stop on the crossing, it’s not Brightlines fault that people are stupi
How about grade separation like they should have done in the first place. Only an idiot would think sending a fast train down both at grade crossings inside quiet zones would be a good idea. Anyone should have seen this coming as we all know people don't listen to crossing lights or gates.
It’s because your average Floridian has not seen a train before
Why do you think its called Floria-duh.
Those tracks have been their for 100 years or so.
For those 100 years brightline has been their for around 7 which gives drivers especially new ones even less of an excuse to get hit by brightline who is never at fault bc Drivers especially floridians are dumb
In most European countries, the crossing gates are completely across the road, the drivers in all countries are not thinking. 🥵🥵🥵
How does this happen. People are dumb…. That’s literally the only issue there is nothing a train driver, railroad, government whatever can do and that applies to every nation even japan and France.
Japan has a very loud bell that rings, and rings as a train approaches. Of course the neighbors probably hate it.
@@iworkout6912 If you have ever lived in the city, there are common noises that you get used to and they don't bother you one bit.
It’s not the train. It’s the people going around the crossing arms.
Folks enjoy taking chances. Some you win. Some you…
Because people KEEP driving into the path of coming trains! Folks simply cannot live in reality!
Gene pool clarification
The push for high speed railways..... Americans are not and never will be ready....i worked on a regional railway and shortline, combined 21 years....i have been on switch jobs moving under 10 mph that hit cars....
Let Nature take its course, the average IQ will gradually go up.
@eastbaykidd8574 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Grade separation
Not Happening. Way too Costly. Keeping Idiots off the Tracks !
@ Then you’ve created an acceptible margin of death, regardless of natural selection, or whatever
@ Perhaps as opposed to separating the entire grade (which is probably a good idea anyways) some separation could be done at key crossings/accident spots and more education could be invested in train safety itms
Because people are stupid.
Russia has a steel plates the pops up from the roadway along with gates to stop cars. Of course people still find a way.
True, but that's because they are Russians, one of the few people that rival Floridians for pure stubbornness and stupidity.
Brightline Trains and Cars and People issues will never work as one , until more laws are applied .
Like laws that send people that violate the railroad property to prison for five or more years.
Stupidity
People can’t drive…
Its all the Morons and Riff Raff by the Tracks !😮
They need to install very cheap in pavement warning lighting. They may have to install modified crosswalk signals that count down to the next train crossing.
Darwin
We all love the Brightline service. We can’t fix Florida’s stupid. Fix the gates.
You cannot run a railroad in a metro area.
Wrong.
They'll find out eventually.
Tri-Rail has been doing it for decades now
Yes you can
The railroad was there FIRST.
Because it's a menace to society?
PEOPLE are a menace to themselves. It's not Brightline, it's idiotic drivers.
Has this initial posters IQ been determined?
@@thegood9 Yeah a train rampaging through small congested towns isn't a menace. Grow up.
@@jameylane1591The only people who should grow up are the idiotic drivers and you.
@jameylane1591 Why is it so hard to wait a few seconds for the gate to come up? Is it worth it to risk your life? Where's the common sense? Why do we have brains? I have visited countries that the railroad crossings don't have gates nor flashing lights, just a mere stop sign and you don't see this nonsense of people getting in the way of the train!
KILLER TRAIN
Are you from Florida?
Want to reduce these incidents Make it a 3rd degree Felony to go around RR Signals / Arms when down and an approaching train and a $15,000 Fine! No Ifs and's Or Buts!
