The wharf had accumulated a backlog of necessary repairs prior to the collapse, but engineers were unable to implement the repairs due to CEQA lawsuits by local NIMBY activists."

We can easily fix and replace this wharf by sending more money to Ukraine.
Both can be done!
@ChristinaEbeling UKRAINE FOREVER!!! I LOVE THE UKRAINE!!!
You better hope that Putin loses...he will take over much more than Ukraine.
This wharf not being fixed is ENTIRELY the fault of local activists. From Wikipedia: "On December 23, 2024, an approximately 150-foot (46 m) section at the end of the wharf collapsed due to high waves. The wharf had accumulated a backlog of necessary repairs prior to the collapse, but engineers were unable to implement the repairs due to CEQA lawsuits by local NIMBY activists."
PEOPLE!!! If you are ever filming something like this, do not stop and run away. You will be protected. The cameraman never dies. Have you not noticed? It saddens me in this day and age when some really great footage was missed due to people selfishly running for their lives, when they could be providing entertainment to dozens if not hundreds of viewers.
Just keep filming. And if you do decide to run and then submit weak footage to the local station, as the cameraman did here, be sure they make it clear that the footage missed the important part.
Yeah people are such a bunch of cowards these days
Wow! I bet that was a hell of a ride!
What was the reason this happened? Just an atmospheric river, or dilapidated infrastructure?
Lost boys history gone!
Do you like that rice?
Look at the rice you are eating
Been on SC pier many times
I’d say the biggest swell since the early 70’s
Never ever underestimate the power of the ocean. I learned this young when I got caught in the undertow.
