Robby was on another level, truly unique and talented musician 👌🏻
I saw him with the Experience Hendrix tour. There were a zillion top notch guitarist on that tour and Robbie stuck out amongst them. Such a unique approach, I was blown away.
robby's playing is the most mystical !!! remember the guitar at "the end", "indian summer"
Absolutely! Brilliant stuff.
Great and unique player, I saw with live, such a great experiecne.
One of the greatest. No one had a sound like Robbie.
My favorite guitarist and IMO one of the top five of six ever. And to think the 'Rolling Rag' rated him at 248.
He truly is underrated!
Coolest rocker I ever met. Love The Doors..... "I promised I would drown myself in mystic heated wine..."
What made Robbie's playing so unique is he never used a pic, which is very unusual for rock. Plus he's the mellowest person on planet earth.
Robby Krieger created some of the most incredible licks on guiter, I love the him on Light my Fire the long version, it sounds as good as ever to this day.
Met Krieger at a rock n roll memorabelia show in Los Angeles sponsored by KLOS in 1994. I got his autograph and he let me take a picture with him that I still have to this day. Very cool guy in person. Krieger in my opinion is an excellent guitar player. Even when Krieger is not playing the lead solo in a tune you can still hear all the kittle licks and riffs he's doing behind for example when Manzarek is playing the lead on his keys. Robby Krieger is one of the best ever to do it.
He did comp The Doors pretty subtly. I mean, all of them did have a great chemistry, always balanced, always in sync.
@@astersarte1282😅 un
@@astersarte1282 They called it ‘the diamond’ in rehearsal, when Jim would turn around inwards to face his bandmates.
Been Down So Long is a great example.
Mr. Krieger’s sound and style are so unique and can’t be imitated. Whether it’s studio or live version, it always feels like he never wastes any note, just exactly the right amount that takes you to ecstasy. I love Jimi Hendrix but Mr. Krieger takes me to heights no other guitarist can.
LONG LIVE THE DOORS!!! ❤️
💯
Hell yeah.
Great guy, great guitarist! See the pbs live peformance and you could see he knew how to get down!
One of the greatest guitarists, songwriters, arrangers, and composers in modern music history period! An incredibly unique, versatile, and complex stylist on the guitar.
He's also very funky, soulful, and jazzy. Robby Krieger can play many different styles on the guitar. Rock and roll, blues, psychedelia, jazz, hard rock, flamenco, classical, R&B, funk, and acid rock.
He's extremely unique in his sounds and playing styles. There's no one like him in the past, or the present.
Got to see him live in Canada. Was very impressed.
Those talking guitar lines are cosmic
Absolutely!
I think one of the reasons why he's often underrated and slips under the radar is that he wasn't really a showman like lots of lead guitarists are, with their guitar 'orgasm, look at me face!' every time they solo. He's comes across as a quiet, shy guy happy for others to take the limelight but beneath all that is a very good songwriter and guitarist.
the best
I was 15 in 1969 and in all the years following I never gave a second thought on his guitar playing after all The Doors were Jim and Ray to my ears. I just picked up his 2010 album "Singularity" and I have completely changed my opinion of his playing. His guitar work on it is fantastic,I love the album and now I have whole different perspective, how could I have been so " Deaf"?
Yep. For me Robby and Ray are the backbone of the Door’s sound, with John rounding it out with his tension building drumming.
Robby is by far a legend in his field
I only have to hear a few chords of Robby’s guitar & im having an orgasm
The doors always sound like Home to myself ❤
What really made Kreiger and the band stand out is they were the only band I came across in the 60's that had only 1 guitar no other bass no other guitar nothing...I can't recall any other band in this period doing that approach. It was an era that featured mulitple guitar attacks & at the very least had a bass player..ray on organ didn't represent a normal bass sound whatsever...why ppl claimed they had a "hole in thier sound"
Yeah totally unique approach! I always thought they were very innovative and different.
The Seeds had the same band layout, however frontman Sky Saxon was supposed to play the bass, but in reality he just sang, leaving keyboardist Daryl Hooper to deal with the bass line.
I am not sure who influenced who or if it was a case of convergent evolution.
Seeds guitarist, Jan Savage, had a different style from Robbie Krieger.
They always had a bass, whether Ray or a studio musician
@@jamesball5743 I'm referring to live in concert, which only had 1 guitar (robby) & No bass guitar.
Um...the Rascals? Hello?
Funny the old Robbie looks nothing like the young dude!. Are they the same person?
