haha he said "I'm Robbie Krieger from The Byrds " 😆
I laughed too.
Reason the more to love the modest man 😊❤️
It's almost like we watched the same video...
I wished Robbie Krieger had said the beachboys or One Direction instead of The Byrds.
Hope Bob Dylan is listening to this?.
All the stories are like yeh Jim was late/drunk/high/in jail - (then nailed the track!)
Amazing how despite Jim's antics, they still produced an impressive body of work.
Now I want to hear Manzarek sing When the music's over!
@@lamper2 same. The original had ray on vocals and I really want to hear it
The Doors is one of those bands that crosses the divide and will always be listened too just like The Beatles, truly Iconic.
Ways Above The Beatles ! Doors R Another Dimension Beyond infinity !
Fighting with Hell’s Angels sounds like something only Morrison would do.
It was just a little fluff for the interview. Robbie told the same story in the 80's to an interviewer
ua-cam.com/video/6gnuVDADnoI/v-deo.html
16 minute mark
That took balls.
🤘
And maybe Hunter S. Thompson. Though more of a misunderstanding than a fight with Hunter if I remember correctly? In the end they ended up going their own ways.
I'm glad John and Robby are friends again. It shouldn't have been different anyway.
These men are. LEGENDS. Celebrate them.
Densmore is such a great drummer and Krieger is such a great guitarist/songwriter...
This is fantastic. It's so great to see these guys now. Every member of this band are so unique musically. Love the 5000 Densmore Ave. sign. Long live The Doors! Thanks for making this happen!
They were ahead of times, especially Jim Morrison...that's one of the reason their music is still relevant today.
The whole band was ahead of their time. Without the music, Jim would just be a poet or a filmmaker...
@@MeekDrill It wouldn't be just a poet, just a film maker. He was destined for greatness. Acting was something he undercover really wanted to try out, just the idea of playing out all the characters in his head..he was very visual thinker.
@@shar3066 Morrison was asked to be in Platoon by Stone way back then. The Sheen character. Imagine that movie with Jim.
Robby's voice is soothing it helps me to fall asleep. 😀
What integrity this John Densmore had towards Jim's vision and estate. Much love to John. Even more admirable today when everything is a money grab venture. Respect.
I love Robbie Krieger's sense of humour.
Jim fought some hell's angels.A miracle he survived that.
Densmore is still as cool as ever. I'm looking forward to this record hitting my turntable!
To me, these guys were the soundtrack to Los Angeles 1967-1997.....never will be days like that ever again
Ray was/so cool. I always loved his stories.
please keep telling these stories time keeps marching on and these great memories need to be told .. long live The Doors
Gosh the doors are my absolute most favorite 60s band. Im 42 and discovered the doors as a baby my dad would play his records. Id do anything to go back to my early teens. Would have been so amazing to be there back then and catch a show at the whiskey.
Jim was one real interesting guy.
These two artists along with fellow artist Ray Manzerek were the heart and soul of the Doors. No other artists could have filled their shoes and do what they did to create the most unique one of a kind rock band ever.
My favorite Band of all time Robbie is a great guy humble and has a great sense of humor John helped teach me to play drums off the records they made. The doors will live on Forever.
Happy Birthday John 1/12/21,from a doors fan in Australia
I love The Doors and their music. I'm a generation X and The Doors music was and is a part of the soundtrack to my life along with The Beatles, The Stones, Dylan, Jefferson Airpalane, Buffalo Springfield, Canned Heat! etc. etc. so much good music back then. Early 90's were pretty good for rock n roll too: Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, The Black Crowes, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Beck, Soundgarden, et. al. I love the music from the 60's era especially '65-70'...🎵👉✌️. I play drums myself and have been in and out of bands since I was 15. I can sing somewhat. I've sang Doors, Sinatra, and Dylan at karaoke before. good times!
I love these guys they are so rebellious I had the chance to speak with these guys before
Los quiero mucho desde Chiquimula, Guatemala un abrazo mis abuelos del rock gracias a Dios están vivos aun!! Los quiero mis reliquias un abrazo...
Thanks Robby and John ❤️
Awesome. Just watching the '68 Hollywood Bowl show on Amazon right now, and got to wondering if Densmore was still alive! I knew Krieger was, but I couldn't recall if he was the last man standing! What a pair of legends. Twenty years ago, or a wee bit more, The Doors changed my life. CIA "social-engineering" band or not..... I know people decry it for their own reasons, but "Waiting for the Sun" started my education in proper musicianship.
Please do explain a bit more if you have time.
The aspect of being a "socially engineered band"
I've heard the theories, and whatnot.
Anything you got?
If they were part of the social engineering, I am sure the doors were completely unaware they were being used for that purpose. Nevertheless, a lot if good in my life has come about as a result of being a big doors fan. Including "questioning all authority." Sometimes, especially with something as subjective as art, social engineering can backfire on the secret puppet masters.
The Soft Parade has now begun, listen to the engines hum, people out to have some fun
Still have my DOORS records, including, "Other Voices" & "Full Circle."
What about "Wierd Scenes Inside the Goldmine"?
Getting old but love these guys. Thanks for playing in Chatham.
Jim was on a lot of stuff man, I’m 13 and I listen to all there music I love listening to his music ♥️😎
As a Doors fan this was fantastic new information I hadn’t yet heard!
So cool that you present those Legends to us, cant wait for VMP Doors edition!
John's book is a must read. 👌 He signed it for me , so maybe I'm prejudiced, but really good 👍
Yeah, it was good. I want to read Robby's new book. Plus the one Morrison's sister put together of his writings. I am really excited about that one.
What can I say?! I love this band! Love their sound!
I always loved the Doors ...a magic Band ...."Riders on the storm "
Bob Dylan, hit these boys up for a collab!!!!!
GNR & The Doors - "Knockin' All Along the Watchtower"
He better bring a singer with him
Thank you for this!
Very cool you guys did this.
Just when I thought I heard all the stories already - John and especially Robby bring out some new material :)
We loved it too!
Have you heard the one where Jim is a CIA asset?! Not just him either! Everyone's talking about it now...
@@rigavitch stupid conspiracy's are everywhere
These two are awesome, just awesome. Fantastic post.
Glad for their ongoing vids of the real stories! Light My Fire still takes me bk to gr school & seeing TheDoors on TheSmothersBrothers.
Rest in peace Jim and Ray.
Love these guys
It was a surprise that this record was the new essentials pick but I'm so excited for it
How did Jim Morrison ever teach himself how to sing without a single singing lessons? Amazing
Densmore and Bruce Dern are like the same guy lol
Really appreciated your live percussive rendition of “The Listening Wind” Mr Densmore. Respect 😎
Thank you.
Fantastic...
Best Band Ever!
I did not want this to end. There must be more.
Five years of magic. You guys were great. The End
If they both like Bob Dylan..
Why in the world have they not collabed?
The Dylan Doors would be awesome!..
(how could a music executive not tried to put that together over the last 40 years?.. It could have been huge)
I would love to hear Dylan play with these guys!
uhh ok?
Fucking love it.
So dope
Favorite band of all time
Saw Robbie 2 years ago! Iconic virtuoso!
If either of you fantastically humble yet incendiary men might read this, I have a professional background in proscenium stage dance but ran away to join the cirque du soliel and currently preform random acts of construction to support my daughters…. But I have a beautiful and dark concept for a theatrical piece to An American Prayer that, I feel, is more poignant and necessary than ever. I’ve tried many different ways to make contact, but they have never born fruit.
Jim will never die. He is as large as Elvis
Then why did Elvis die?
@@IMCcanTWEESTED Hank! Bobby is watching Utube and talking to strangers about drug addicted artists!!!
For sure, maybe even larger, for his legend keeps growing.
@@janebraun4482 That begs the question: Why are drug addicts immortalized? Elvis and Morrison were both very talented performers/writers/singers but it seems their lives became too much to bear.
Two best to ever come out California are The beachboys and of course The Doors.
The best!!!!!!
"Light My Fire" is the first song I remember ever hearing and remembering. "Purple Haze" the second...
3:48 the magic is still here
Two best California bands The beachboys and of course The Doors.
I love you all 🥰
The best rock and roll band all the times iconics
dope
The doors were known to be a great improv band who had to follow jims whims....so maybe dylan could work ...hes known to play his songs differently every night. Id love to hear the doors with dylan
Densmore has a U-Turn Audio Orbit turntable. Cool!
I like how both of them said they would like to play with Bob Dylan the most
Love this band til i die
The only bleeding great and original thing ever to come out of L.A.
really? Why the LA hate. Much better than florida, texas or idaho.
Liked the story about "When the music is over". Jim did it in one take.
the Birds , the Doors who the hell knows anymore
Purtroppo non esistono più i musicisti come voi Unfortunately, there are no more musicians like you
Never considered before they didn’t have a bass player. Thanks for this interview!
They did in fact have a studio bassist though
@@timothyjensen179 also Larry Knetchel and Carol Kaye
they all had to play what ray told them to play. but for one song l.a woman, jerry scheff came up with all the bass lines.
The bass player was rays hand.
@IPA SOLÉ those studios bass players in the subsequent albums did not come up with the bass lines, ray did. ray showed on his keyboard bass what to play, they copied and played exactly.
Didn’t show up to the 3rd rehearsal because he got into a bar fight with hells angels 😄 Morrison was fucking nuts
Wow, Jim called having taken 'too much'!! In Paris he needed to do the same, but........a bit hard living there. Jim could always prior come through, he never lost his talent...just delayed sometimes.!!
Alot of rock bands in the world but with the Doors you know your not in a simulated universe
The Doors did early fusion stuff (for instance, the end). Sadly they are just not credited for it. Surely Tony Williams and Herbie Hancock agree with me ;).
i thought i loved lsd the most in the world but now i see it was jim
They actually DID have session bass players for the albums.. Ray only used the organ bass thing on the first album and in concerts.
Larry Knechtel - The Doors (Two songs)
Doug Lubahn - Strange Days
Lubahn, Kerry Magness, Leroy Vinnegar - Waiting for the Sun
Lubahn, Harvey Brooks - The Soft Parade
Ray Neapolitan, Lonnie Mack - Morrison Hotel
Jerry Scheff - LA Woman
Apparently Doug Lubahn was invited to join the band but he declined.
wish we could hear from Mary
✨✌️🐸✌️✨
How does John sound and act 15 years younger than chilled out Rob?
Less drugs. John is also two years older than Robby.
@@munimathbypeterfelton6251 wait who did less? 😅
john first invited bill wolf for the guitarist audition ahead of robby krieger. would love to hear from john about bill wolf. what happened to him... was he a better guitarist than robby krieger...both robby and bill wolf were in the same band psychedelic rangers along with john and grant...
John..were you in St. Thomas a few months ago ???
One pass on when the musics over is just crazy
3:47
Hello John, do you still have your drum equipment,....... cymbals, snares toms,.... from your time with the doors?
Drumming regards from Bavaria Germany
Bob, call me...
Trying to upload the.photo
Haven’t they found any decent questions for these guys by now???
why edit ? i woulda heard it all
What's an AMA??
why the hell aren't both of them doing performances together anymore?
Thumb Up (#600)
I'm the few if only Artists/Rapper/EDM tech who references the Doors in most if not all my music... Jim was an amazing lyricist and each one of the band members had a style that was meant to be.
