- In today’s video Gift, our friend Barbara and I, take a trip to visit POZZE SMERALDINE a corner of paradise in Italy. We also visit LAGO Di Redona - The lake and the sunken town, a small town submerged in water. Please see the links below for more information and the locations.
First we visit a dam one of which Barbara father worked on in the mid 60’s. During the 1950's 3 water reservoirs were built on the river Meduna in Val Tramontina:
1) Redona (300mt~height above sea level)
2) Ca' Selva (500mt~)
3) Ciul (600mt~)
During those years 3 small towns were abandoned in order to create the lake: Redona Vecchia, Fleur, and Movada.
Afterwards, we crossed the suspended gangway/bridge over the Meduna River.
Before heading to Località Pecol in Tramonti di Sotto (ristorante or restaurant da Febo - where we had lunch) hoping to at least have a glimpse of the village that is submerged in the water of Movada.
From there we reached Tramonti di Sopra and started our way to POZZE SMERALDINE considered one of the 10 most beautiful Italian pools (The Guardian - 2014).
Like grand canyon, the river Meduna has created these natural pools by erosion.
Since 2009 it's a UNESCO World heritage site situated in the Parco Naturale delle Dolomiti Friulane (Friulian Dolomites Natural Park).

What a beautiful area of Italy this is Gift and Joe. So much to see and so wonderfully quiet with just the sound of the water and the birdsong. Great to come across that deer. The butterflies allow you to touch them because they have just come round from their winter hibernation and are drunk on the nectar from the flowers. Your grand tour is nearly over so it is just what you needed to relax in the countryside away from the hustle and bustle of all the cities that you have visited. Thank you Barbara for taking Gift and Joe and us along on this fantastic walk in the countryside. May God bless you and keep you safe as you wind down for your journey back to Thailand. 😀❤🙏

Morning to everyone! Another wonderful adventure! Happy you're now able to "smell the coffee" not working and in retirement. Need to stop and breathe sometimes; Life seems to pass us by so quickly. I find myself getting a lot of joy out of your travel experiences. Beautiful country! Necessary to get away from the modernization and technology of civilization to truly enjoy the nature of it all. Isn't amazing that the Europeans and Asians managed to build (really tall) retaining walls with little tech and they stand strong hundreds of years later while nowadays, you are lucky to get 20 years from modern tech, weeping tile, all sorts of modern things. And what an absolutely beautiful part of the world. So happy to watch you all having these experiences. I'm definitely taking my family there.
