Love that sweptline! As for the Dodge/Ford: Nothing against Ford, but I don't like paying WAY more for less...and I know everyone here's all about diesels but I don't really tow much and love my Hemi.
Sam really love the videos. I believe what brought me to your channel was when you did the G56 swap in your 98, when I was looking forward to swapping my 92 to a g56. Still haven’t done yet because money doesn’t grow on trees and I can’t find one under six grand but I seriously enjoy your videos and I have learned a lot from you. I really appreciate it.
Great build that sweptline looks awesome. Have you checked the turbocharger bolts between the cold and hot side for torqe. . You might check the intercooler core for leaks as well .Just a suggestion. I really like all of your content.
Very cool stuff!! You have to start putting stock late 3rd gen turbos on your 12 valves if you havent already!! Those HE351 turbos are amazing on 2nd gens or Look into SavageFab turbos. Keep it up!!!!!
I’m a believer in putting the intercooler in front off the radiator also if you want to test the turbo just build a intake like the non intercooler 12 valves were and then you will find out if the intercooler is holding you back see how it reacts
Have you tried adjusting the AFC? To make sure my 98 passes smog I take out as much pre boost as I can on the way to smog place. I had the hx35 to where it wouldn't light till ~2400rpm foot to the floor haha. The AFC spring may be a bit stiff too. I have the DAP "heavy" spring in mine and it's works great with 30psi on a 215 pump
In my experience the open air filter will run hotter than stock. Some of the aftermarket cold air intakes are not as good as stock. I tow equipment everyday with a 1997 12 valve 5sp.
Hmm. I really like GM for a gas rig. I've done rants on the 7 things that make LS engines so good! Ford, with their new 6.7 gasser, copied the LS almost exactly!! Speaking of Ford, what I would love to have is a Ford 350/or 450 King Ranch, dually, with a Cummins conversion! The leather interior in the King R is really special and cool!! It's saddle leather, not the wimpy Italian leather that wears fast and looks like crap. Texas truck, no salt etc. The older 6.0, 6.4 motors quit, everything else is great and you can buy them with blown/no motors very reasonable! 4X4 w/Alcoa's and extended, or crew cab. I prefer extended for backing in tight places. A nice, p-pump, 5.9L, 12 valve manual like that would be worth $30-$40 to me! I've had my eye on a used, small luxury 5th wheel. (good deal, nobody seems to want small ones 8). That conversion is the ideal tow rig! Right after my new roof project. 8( If I live long enough to see all that happen. 8( Peace --gary
I feel like you have something else going on that turbo is tiny, looks like a k27 Borg. I run a 63/68 on several 12 valves that tow regularly. I’d clamp the wastegate off see if that changes. Also I’ve had a few doggy trucks that was the ofv valve on the p pump. I do a spring mod to keep the fuel pressure up to 40psi Love the dentsides, right now I have a 79 f250 I put a p pump 24v into. It’s crazy how nice they fit in the 73-79 fords
I was able to get a Cummins industrial and marine 165 degree thermostat for my drove over a pothole and stuff fell off 2007 6.7. Dadgum Holset Variable Gate is money. I see 45 PSI towing when I want some real power accelerating. The stuff that fell off and a little bit of OBD monkey motion and she just keeps on running.
I’ve never seen a factory setup with the charge air cooler behind the radiator. Rad rejecting heat directly into the CAC is probably negating anything the CAC is doing.
Sam I have a delema im sure you can help me with. My brother has an 07 ram 3500 5.9l with a built auto 4x4 setup has alittle bit bigger injectors and a stealth 64 turbo full 4" exhaust afe intake a edge programmer and let me tell ya it runs good but the mpg suck! Egts run high in my opinion vs my 12v we live in a fairly flat area and just cruising it at 60 will run around 800-1000* and pulling an load even a tahoe on my bumper pull 14k equipment trailer it runs 11-1250 just to maintain 60 gets down around 9-10 mpg with a load similar to described earlier and 13-14mpg empty at best a full throttle pull from a stop to 60 will get up to about 1500-1550* we get nervous with the egts that high we might hurt something any ideas? It does have a cummins exhaust brake that is worthless. I didn't know if it would be worth removing that if it's causing a restriction in the exhaust the egt probe is pre turbo also thanks!
Are the fuel injectors large enough for this turbo? I`m sure you know what your doing just wondering. Love the old Dodge By the way what is your plan for the interior. Tan or grey.?
You should check if the wastegate is actually closed. I’ve had a could turbos lately where the wastegate wouldn’t close all the way making the turbo super laggy
Preference between for or dodge is complicated but I would say dodge because of the b Cummins but I do like the looks of the fords don't like the engines at all! I actually a gm guy at heart but I have a 05 cateye with a 12 valve nv4500 init
Can’t wait on the Fummins videos

Awesome video .
I’d pick a Dodge over a Ford always but I do love dent side and OBS Fords. All great trucks.

I'm no expert by any means but the little bit I've played the hx35 does really well on stockish 12 v !!!
Mine's been overheating too I figured it was a thermostat but I will look at that gasket. Hope it's a thermy

Trouble is getting a factory Cummins air box in there.
@@samsonandrew7652 Could a Banks Ram-Air be rerouted somewhere?

Yea me to buddy of mine did a f550 4x4 cummins conversion 6 spd and it was 5 thousand just for the ford to cummins conversion parts

Always loved mopars. Don't fit well in ford's with my height, dodge truck seats are actually more comfortable for me and fit better in them.

Its the turbo. That exhaust housing is way to small for a 5.9 imho
That’s a 1964 or 1965 Ranchero
Definitely dodge by way of chevy!!!
Ford sucks. Ram for the win. 👍🏻
I hate leaks, weird noises ect...Funny(not funny) how proplems come in 2's and 3's
. Ac sure will be nice...Happy vac plumbing on that bad 🍒..
