Love this trend of little electronic instruments creating a melancholy vibe in a beautiful setting. This is a great example of that, and one of the rare videos of a volca modular being musical.
I can’t listen to this one enough! So beautifully melancholy. I would never have guessed you could get such a haunting sound out of the volca modular. Great job 👏
I know this is old at this point, but I just wanted to pop on and say this is absolutely fantastic. Haunting and beautiful. Really shows a mastery of the devices you're working with imo. Makes me want to go and grab a few Volcas honestly.
Very atmospheric. Feels like some unknown and benign forces or energy or living creatures are present right here. I’m very impressive and it makes me weep ;/ thanks man
Congratulations!!! You receive the 🏆 AWARD 🏆 !!! First time the Volca Modular sounds like a modular synth instead of like a tin can!!! 😍😍😍 Thank you! 😍
SyncdAlien that reverb on the volca Modular does make it really metallic. It’s my least favourite part of that Volca. I always use external FX as he’s done here
That is the consensus with everyone I talk about it. I think it's an effect that is useful about 1% of the time. So, I guess it's fine they included it, but hopefully the users will begin to realize that and use it 1% of the time instead of 99% of the time.
Really, really like this. Have a Modular myself, every time I tinker I find something new. Love this sound, it’s like someone playing whale song at a way faster rate. ...just move the plant! :D Seriously though, keep up the good work, Fella.
I'm glad you like it :) Basically what is happening here is that the mod input on the source module is modulated by function two in lfo mode and woggle. The "screaming" sound is basically a note being held through a lot of steps. :)
Great track - just got the modular and sharing some tracks (keys, mod, kick) , but need to get under the hood and have it do some generative/woggle stuff :) inspiring
Hey Gary, I've found it really helpful to work with books and videos by Tony Horgan. His stuff is very well organized and by going through it, I have been able to add some structure to my own ramblings on the Volca Modular. George in California
@@georat16 Georat - my comment was from 2 years ago, since have several modular rigs :) and although I use the volcas every now and then, seems a looong time ago :)
I agree with you that the modular tend to sound a bit messy on its own. In my experience it really helps to treat it with some external effects. In this video I sent both of the units through a pedal for some delay and reverb.
This is far and away my favorite use of the Volca Modular I've seen/heard. Keeps me coming back again and again.

Simple stuff, deep inspiration. No one needs too many THINGS for being rich...
And sharing is one of the keys.
Thank you. What you are saying is very true.
Very unique melody handling on modular
this is what I was missing to decide to get a volca modular. thanks.
definitley one of my favorite ambient tracks i've heard in a long time
There's a really beautiful melancholy to this. The music sits me at that table so I can just watch the rain for a while.
Beautiful! Reminds me of nils frahm
After listening to a lot of examples, this remains one of the most beautiful and musical patches made with volca synths
was searching this combination and found you :) me and my cat can listen to this whole day!~
woah, so beautiful
Just now bought "Vinduer" on Bandcamp! I had to support your work somehow. Thank you! Greets from Austria!
Thank you so much ❤️ 🙏That really means a lot to me 😀
@@stochasticstep You're welcome!
huuum, it’s beautiful. abstract but nostalgic. i love this sound.

Wow, really beautiful piece. Thanks for sharing.

@@SyncdAlien The few times I have used it, it's such a minimal amount just to add a little bit of that character to it before going into the reverb.

My favorite one from you, I love the slow screams from the modular, how did you make those? I just wish the track was 10min long :P

Is this just the two volcas and the effects pedal
Hi. Yes it is. I did use reaper to master the track. Filtered out some low end with an eq, and added a little compression.
Modular playing in pattern-chain-mode (or how u call it)? And no sync of the two volcas?
Whatever, beautiful!
You got it right. I like it when they are not synced, sounds less robotic. :)
how do you get the modular to sound like that??? alone it just sounds like a mess
