@@memeyartist5591 I have a theory: putting Gaster's plan at work requires determination. So, it's necessary the determination extractor machine, and that is in the True Lab, where are the amalgamates. Alphys wants to hide them at all cost, and she becames completely insane thinking about the possibility of discovering them. Sans is a great font of determination, his magic and his power are very useful. So, she wants to use him as power to the core. And, well, we know the rest of the history.
Poor, poor Sans... First he gets to witness his longtime friend Grillby burn alive while screaming for help in his face, then he learns that his OTHER friends are plotting to kill him even after everything he's done to help everyone. He's SOOOOO scared... He was frightened enough of Alphys and Undyne that he decided to walk into almost certain death just to prevent his beloved brother from going near them on the off chance that they might try to use him in their plans somehow... I'm not surprised we can hear, SEE even, whatever passes for his heart pounding when he discovers the horrific truth from the echo flower.

Eya Grove I think they made a spin on it here, that he needs his magic to keep flames under control, and that magic probably comes from eating.
Starvation-> less magic to control fire-> bigger flames and burning alive

darkmxood. That’s just it, most people are alive for exceptionally long periods of time while on fire, which is why they can survive serious burns sometimes. It’s smoke inhalation that usually kills us faster than the flames themselves.

So... that’s how he’s been making a majority of the food, he’s been tapping into his own magical reserves. Practically... breaking off his own body.
Richard McNeilly so Grillby was sacrificing himself from the get go to provide food for everyone, but eventually ran out of magic.
Since Grillby’s magic is gone, his fire is burning his soul like acid, he’s in constant agony, which is why he was the first to go insane since he was using his own body to feed everybody temporarily.
That is sad
I thought the core was preventing him from the fire eating his soul as it powers most things in the underground. Shown in chapter 2, it is stated that there was a sort of magic air barrier thing that most likely helped Grillby stay intact, and likely powered by the core. That magic air barrier crashed down when the core crashed down and allowed the fire to eat away at his soul. This most likely hurts him as he is y’know, screaming in agony. Thanks for coming to my ted talk.

I wish Sans can just tell Paps about the issue that their other friends was planning on killing him and use it to power the underground. That way, Paps would understand and be more aware of the potential danger that is up ahead.
Yes that could be true but that could also make him start feeling hate towards undyne and alphy to the point he might go in a blind rage and attack and end up dying because of the guards.
Papyrus seems like the type to try to resolve the issue by naively confronting them.
And that would most likely end poorly.

Now that's a terrifying thought. The reveal with Sans hearing the echo flower repeating Alphys' plans means that, throughout the events from here to the inevitable, he saw it coming.

It’s so jarring to see Undyne in such despair in contrast to the original Undertale
You said it, I can just imagine her falling to one knee and just start sobbing as every death she has been forced to bear responsibility for had piled up, nothing left, no more ideas. The lady who was supposed to bring hope to everyone is out of it. The deaths would continue, and there was nothing she could do.
None of which you would think you would see.

The drama is fantastic. Also this comic series is probably one of the scariest I’ve seen and I’ve watched a lot of horror movies. Chapter 4 is especially horrifying.

It's a shame we'll never see the rest of the comic get dubbed, but I'm glad we at least got some of it dubbed.

@@Unbr6nded could be the reason, though I'm not sure. I remember that it was said originally that everyone was busy and they'd record more when schedules stopped conflicting, but it seems they all either forgot or chose not to record more.
The reason this is so good is because it really does make you scared from the sickening puzzles to Aliza having to live through all of this.
Just the sheer despair of everyone and the whole situation really hits hard. I feel bad for everyone and wish that they didn't have to go through all that

So I think I understand the whole horror tale timeline.
The human, Frisk, kills Asgore. Making Undyne Queen, and the monsters overthrew Toriel as Queen, due to still wanting to make peace with monsters
Alphys becomes silent due to the death of Asgore (Frisk probably “killed” Mettaton too. It would make sense why he’s broken, so she rebooted him after).
The core shuts down. And Undyne has completely lost it (aka. The first person to go insane from the events that have taken place)
Alphys soon loses it after, knowing that Sans gives them the power to reboot the core, but stays silent till the last minute. Knowing it’s wrong
Sans overhears their argument from Waterfall, due to an echo flower repeating the argument.
Sans looses his mind trying to find another option, but ultimately doesn’t find one...
Undyne strikes him down, knowing he had to die eventually
Sans stays alive though. Due to some miracle... and Sans now hates Undyne and Alphys
Sans tells Papyrus about eating humans, now that Undyne wants nothing to do with them, leaving them dead
After Papyrus refuses, Sans slips human meat into the spaghetti, calling it “the final feast”
Papyrus then loses it as well... the human meat tasted so good to him. And ultimately, his teeth turn horrible...
Sans now knowing he’s wanted dead, and Grillby can’t serve him anymore, due to burning alive, Sans and Papyrus have no one but each other and the other horrifying residents of Snowdin
Toriel and Sans no longer talk, since Sans has lost all concern, and just wants to kill humans to feed Papyrus
Even though humans are the only food source, Sans doesn’t want to eat humans. Sans may be a lunatic, but he isn’t completely gone...
Toriel loses it due to the conditions of the ruins, and now Sans isn’t hanging out with her behind the door...
Was that right? I’m pretty sure it was at least somewhat spot on. Let me know :)

In the game you can actually set up the horrortale concept by being a jerk or murderer but keeping the main monsters alive.
When Toriel stays alive she will always come back to reclaim the thrown to declair humans as friends.
Because of that you need make monsters hate you so they overthrow her and undyne takes over.

I really hope no one drove by the voice actor for grillbys house and hearing “HEEEEEELLLLLLLLPPPP MEEEEEEEEE!”
If you think about it Sans is the main reason as to why all of the monsters are starving and suffering because his eye actually managed to get the Core working again but he destroyed the Core entirely after even though he survived the extraction. He didn’t think logically and that decision is the reason why Monsters are slowly going extinct in Horrortale.
He was doing what he can to survive
But Horrortale was the result of mistakes and wrong decisions. In fact it's the result of a neutral run caused by Frisk who killed Asgore , took his soul and escaped the underground while the monsters were left behind to rot and they all turn insane and resorted to cannibalism. The Core shut down and now that Aliza has fallen she will be forced to go through this hell if it can even be called that
As the comic shows the game will take a different approach and there probably won't be any way to do a genocide run and we would at most be able to do neutral or pacifist

Weird thing is, I think Sans would want to sacrifice himself if it meant helping Payrus solely. Dude looked after his people in Snowdin for a long time, and if all it took was the Blue Power in his eye.
He would want Undyne to look after Papyrus if he went through with it.

Is because the souls have disapeared, you can see this in the game of Undertale when you kill Toriel and Asgore, Sans say in the final that the souls diesapread
