    I like the length of the video, and the simplicity. Of course, I always like it to build up to reading Scripture. Well done!

    Great lesson. Eglon and Zedekiah are beautiful. Enjoyed watching Zedekiah trying to snooze and preen at times. And I think I heard him say his name!! Had a beloved conure some years ago ❤

      This is the edition I am reading from in this particular video, though I often use the Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia and the Reader's Hebrew Bible by Zondervan also.

    Wow! Nice video. I just realized that "Eglon" is the name of the "tzav" (turtle). I thought it was another Hebrew term for a turtle. Am i right that Eglon is a proper noun? If yes, then thanks "Zedekiah" for helping me figure it out. Thank you Andrew and Beth.

      As long as Eglon does not meet Ehud (Judges 3:12ff) I think everything will be ok.

    Beth and Avram, if you put the preposition את after verb קרא, it sounds like to read. I think that if you want to say "we called him" you should to use the preposition ל, right??

    • @AlephwithBeth
      @AlephwithBeth  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Luciano, if we were saying "we called out to him" then yes, you would be right. But for "call his name ____" we see את used in the Bible very often in this phrase. See Gen. 4:25, 5:3, 17:19, 30:11, 1 Sam. 1:20, 1 Chron 7:23, etc.

    Great fun with צִדְקִיָּהוּ Correct reference is 1st kings 5:12a not 1st kings 5:26a

    • @AlephwithBeth
      @AlephwithBeth  2 роки тому +3

      Thanks! The reference 5:26 is correct for the Hebrew Bible. The English is 5:12, but sometimes the verse divisions are different between the Hebrew and translations.

    Why is it "ha har" but "he harim"?

    • @MiShehu-r9m
      @MiShehu-r9m 3 роки тому

      It is because of poetic reasons and because the word becomes longer the first vowel must shorten.

    • @AlephwithBeth
      @AlephwithBeth  3 роки тому

      To make a long story short, words that start with ayin, heh or het and a qamets vowel (and don't have the stress on the first syllable) trigger a vowel change in the article to "he".

    Boa noite Bet e Abraão. Bet você fala "É" em MÊLÊCH. Você fala méléch. Fiquei sabendo que israelense não usa É e nem Ó.. (Apenas som Ê e Ô)... em várias palavras você fala " É"... Em Israel tem esse som "É"?

      Es 1 Reyes 5:12 en el español, y 1 Reyes 5:26 en el hebreo. Los números de los versículos a menudo no concuerdan entre el hebreo y las traducciones, y yo siempre pongo el número de la versión hebrea.
