B20 is actually a smog legal swap for integra without needing BAR in Cali since like 2016(?) - I think that’s when they changed the light truck motor classification. Only for integras though. My 2001 has had a B20 in it since 2018 and it’s passed smog legally with no issues since then. I’m in SoCal as well
interesting how butt connectors wont pass when crimping is actually preferred in automotive and aviation....but its understandable is they dont want any cut lines. the part about hiding solder in the cable wrap too 😂. good tip!!
Do one for your channel ❤❤❤❤. Yes you can bard a b20, I’ve seen it. I’ve also bard a b18c1 on a eg. I’m in process of doing a bard k20z1 in eg. I’ll keep you updated. I come to your channel for build instructions.
On my driver side on 98 civic near the end of lower control arm. Their seems to be an oil leak. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Always enjoy watching your channel.
Nope. It may seem cheap at first for small little parts. But the state of california essentially wants you to transfer everything from the donor. Cheapest route is just buying the whole car.
A guy that I bought my k20a2 from Sacramento he bard his mr2 with k24 and he didn’t have to do all that gas tank and dash. He told me all the ref are stupid and have us doing nonsense stuff that does affect emission whatsoever.
Dude I’m trying my ek bard but I need to take to Honda dealer to verify the cal id and cal cvn something new from state ref wants me to do but the car dealers don’t want ti help me
@Tommy La, How about if I had a base 5-speed RSX and swapped the tranny for a k20z3 Si 6-speed transmission? The smog checking dude wouldn't know right?
All they care about it that the emission monitors pass and run without any check engine light. You can bypass the gas tank if you find one that CARB legal for your vehicle, good luck finding one for hondas. The cabin wiring harness is needed because in order for the ECM to run the monitors it need CAN lines to works and the Instrument cluster is the gateway to the CAN (control area network) and Dashboard is needed for the DLC connector location and instrument cluster to mount.
Honda should do like GM and sell a CARB approved K-series crate motor, especially considering all the K-swaps people do on non-Honda platforms.
The cost for those carb approved k motors , no one would buy it
Wow, I feel bad for every tuner in cali, coming from FL lol
It’s rough out here in cali for modified cars haha
ALL THESE CAR IN CALI MAY NOT BE BARD I BUTBTHEY GO DOWN AS SECOND TO NONE IN THE WORLD IT'S JUST ANOTHER WORLD HERE
I’ve been trying to k swap my ef sedan but I can’t get it bard lol

Have a link to refer to?
What about b20v
@hugoloyola9518 Frank motors of any kind are illegal.

Oh no! harsh reality. dreams dashed ... looks like I'm back to the B18C5 dream ... that'll do ;D
Thanks for the rundown, so hard to get straight info.
I miss my B18C5! Such an iconic motor, and no problem!
The problem with a B18C5 is that, unless you are starting with a USDM motor, you are chasing down a unicorn ECU.

Goodluck and let me know how it goes! I think getting a B20 bard now is a lot tougher.
@@LATOMMYLA yes getting b20 is tougher I agree. But I’ll definitely keep you updated on the kswap bard.
@chynna357 can you bar a jdm b18c type r in a 94 eg hatch? If so what components would I need to change on the jdm version to usdm.
@@sogonexd9130jdm engines are an automatic fail iirc. You have to use a USDM spec engine
My eg kswap is bar’d. Just have to bring everything over from the donor car. Gas tank, evap system. Keep it stock.
Did you have to do anything with the dashboard or gauge cluster? How did you mount the tank? Do you have an Instagram?
@@jonathanreyes5192what he said
How about the dash board that’s the only part I don’t understand

Daaaum that alot work to get it bar'd for k that's why I just stick to B serious!!😊👍💯
🙌🙌
Hey bro, instead of getting a donor car, would it work with buying the stuff for the car such as the fuel tank, pump, cabin dash? (OEM ofc)
Nope. It may seem cheap at first for small little parts. But the state of california essentially wants you to transfer everything from the donor. Cheapest route is just buying the whole car.
I passed in my 92 eg with a b18c swap on my second time. 🎉
Best way would be to move out of California
You can also move to a ‘change of ownership’ county in California. As long as you keep your car, you won’t have to smog it:
@@matthewstorm5188 you can still get state reffed if the car is registered out of CA but used in CA
@@frivera735 But isn’t the whole point of registering your car out of state being able to avoid the smog/referee process in the first place?

that's if you're lucky. I've been told depending on who is working on your vehicle, they can be knick picky as a motherfucker

How do you find the locations of these California Smog/BAR Referee places?
Super awesome video!
i live in georgia, maybe im biased. but at that point i would just move away from cali! Cali is strict af
I installed an oil -catch can on my engine bay and he didn’t let me pass the SMOG. Until put back the hoses back to stock.
Yup, its super strict!
I would wanna get me ej1 BARD with my b16a2 but I have no paper work on anything I purchased
There isn’t any cars currently in Cali???
CAN THIS WORK AS WELL FOR A D·SERIES JUST WONDERING TOMMY ?? LMFMAO JUST MESSING AROUND THANKS FOR SHARING THIS 411 TOMMY ✌🏼OUT
Tbh, if you have a dseries, you wont even have a hard time haha!
What’s bar mean? Can I turbo my 08 Si legally?
W video
@Tommy La, How about if I had a base 5-speed RSX and swapped the tranny for a k20z3 Si 6-speed transmission? The smog checking dude wouldn't know right?
Transmission won't affect smog at all.
@@LATOMMYLA That's what I thought thanks!

Why I just want to go B and not K in cali
I was able to bar a B20B in my 96' integra in 2017 I can post a video is anyone is curious.
So...just buy an Rsx...
B20 swaps on civics are not legal as of 2024
Man.. it's almost not worth modifying a car in CA...
No thanks ill pass 🤦
