+HeavyDutyTraining w220 is not the best example. i hate it`s cheap feeling interior. w220 wood trim is just disgusting and plasticy feeling as fuck. i own an E38 and i don`t think it is an engineering masterpiece. jeez, the gearbox does not even have a torque converter lock, whereas my 1999 Renault that was almost 5 times cheaper when new - does have it.
+HeavyDutyTraining "was about to go down to the history as one of the least reliable if not overall the worst automatic transmission of all times." -- too much shit in your head and no real experience. my renault DP0 tranny got 200K km and not a single repair and not a single oil change since new, completely trouble free. Designo Espresso - just took a look at the pictures, materials are w220 standard except for the color, so - same shitty plastic feeling wood, and overall i hate w200 interior design. E38 is just a beautiful car, nothing fency engineering-wise. the interior material quality is very standard for the era. the extremely cheap plastic climate control unit, mobile phone, roof handles, roof lights, seat`s plastic side covers - those are the items i say WTF to my self every time i drive my e38.
Love my third generation e38. I occasionally test drive a new cars and can’t justify buying anything else because my 1997 7 series just feels perfect. Better than new cars and I like how it looks too. Classic and cool. Bmw really should just bring it back to that flawless look that I can’t explain, it just looks good.
Love my e38 shorty sporty. Timing guides, coolant reservoir, glove latch, cup holder and a few other bits were issues but I have 174K on mine and knew what I was getting into. $2800 well spent.
Thanks for uploading! The E38 (3rd generation) looked very elegant with it elongated and flat silhouette, while E65 (4th) was the beginning of the "bulky" era, which is not my taste. My fondest memories are that of the E32 (2nd gen), though. It was the first one truly rivaling Mercedes. It's 760 was the first German car after WWII with an 12-cylinder motor (300hp back then). Mighty!
I have E32 735iL excutive from 86. It is still a pleasure to own and drive in. I also have a E34 535i executive from 94 as my daily with 620.000km going strong.
I had a very late production (November 2001) E38 740i. Going away the best 7 version, I'd buy another tomorrow with low mileage and a good pre-check. Amazing to drive!
Second gen (E32) is my favourite (and I prefer the smaller, original grille). E38 is nice too but I find the back end lacks the subtleties of the E32 and is pretty blah. I love the taillights, the slight downward slope, and the little uptick in the crease along the side right at the tail. Then Chris Bangle came along and ruined everything. I really "love" the eyebrows and the trunklid-on-top-of-a-trunklid.
3rd Gen 7 series has to be my favorite.... Not just favorite 7-Series, but one of my favorite BMW's of all time. They just don't make them like they used to.
E38 and F01 are the best looking 7’s. The e65, though unreliable, is probably the best 7-series, again while it’s actually working properly, because it’s the best combination of old and new BMW.
Notice how the 80s and 90s models had “worlds first” bunch of stuff but lately bmw is behind on innovations and every bmw enthusiast complains that bmw doesn’t have the feeling it once did,it’s to blend now and the only reason they are still selling good is because of the great cars they built in the 80s,90s and early 2000s. I had an e36 92 325i and 96 328i,I had 2 e39 540s,97 non vanos and a 99 with the vamps,my last bmws were the 07 e90 335i then traded for a 07 e60 550i then to a 2010 550i then finally it ended when I got a 2012 X6 50s. I haven’t got another bmw since,I been test driving every model since 2012 and nothing feels anything close to what they used to feel like. Ultimate driving machine no more.
I know I'm not the only one to think and say this but the E38 design and shape should make a comeback. BMW should figure a way to fit all the nice electronics and safety features on that shape and frame. That 3rd Gen beast will forever be the best 7 series.
Great video! Like pretty much everyone else I really liked the exterior design of the E38 above all other generations, however wont deny the impressive technological advances of later models.
I love the 7 series. It lost its way a little with the E60s & F models (still good cars though), but the G is a definite return to from. It's smooth and comfortable as the S-Class (also a great car) as makes little difference, but it's much more dynamic and fun to drive, which appeals to me.
Yes it was. Mercedes build their first V12 in 1991 M120 Engine. BMW build the M70 V12 in 1987. Another funfact: a modified M70 V12 engine from BMW found its way into the McLaren F1 (S70/2) which is still today the fastest naturally aspirated car ever. Although it is said the S70/2 is actually made of two 6 cyclinder S50 engines from the BMW M3 (E36)
Wow, didnt know BMW was THAT cool this video looked too good to be true haha edit: i looked up on wiki and it doesnt say bmw was first to use abs.. confused
Thats a little bit tricky. The Mercedes S class W116 was the first car that was able to be delivered with ABS in 1978 but in the E23 every car was delivered with ABS from 1979 on. So it wasnt an option anymore but STANDARD, I think he should have added that.
E38 certainly has the looks. I own an F01 (non facelift) and it's absolutely amazing. Still, it doesn't have a blinker fluid light. I haven't topped up since... long ago lol
Mihnea M I guess you must have many followers because I see ignorant drivers everyday on my daily commute and they drive all kind of brands. Greetings from an F10 driver who never uses his cell phone unlike many IDIOT s these days, uses the turn signal, stops at stop sign, etc in one word Drives. Cheers snowflake generation🤨
The F10 has been my dream car for... ever. It's like a mini F01, and if you have the L6 Diesel, it's a rocket. I was joking. I'm certainly not the best driver, but... I always try NOT to annoy anyone else. I never use my phone. Not because I don't want to, but I have Samsung and the battery doesn't really allow anything else than a quick, REALLY quick phone call.
Mihnea M I know that you were only joking, but it’s enjoying how many people associate stupid owners only with BMW and I see morons on daily bases driving all kind of cars. BTW, it is a 535i X drive, dark blue with oyster interior. Diesels are not very popular in the US. Only the 535D was sold but not a big success. Best wishes.
I have owned E21, E23, E28, E30, E32, E34, E36, E39, and currently own my second E38. All great cars. ;) Oh by the way stay clear of the E65. Especially the 02-04 year models. They're crap. My current 01 740iL is loaded with 16:9 display, XM radio, bluetooth phone, Passport radar detector, back up camera, and 9" monitor DVD headrests with wireless headphones. ;)
The e38 was the complete definition of gangster in the 90s
Especially 2Pac's.
And e34

E32/E38 are what gave BMW a presence in the large sedan segment.
The E32 is fantastic, timeless....
E32,E38 are legends 😍❤👌
This is Ur e32?
Oh yeah :)
My faves of all time too.
E38 is something out of this world even it's an old car people sitll buy it today!
true. there are plenty of E38 and very little D2 and W220, that says something.

ralfis1234 The Name‘s Bond, Jamesh Bond
The E38 has such a beautiful body and such a commanding presence and still looks absolutely gorgeous today
E38 and E32 are the most groundbreaking and beautiful 7 Series.
e38 my childhood still in heart

*Вынужден с вами согласиться коллега)*
yes.
Absolutely! I used to own 2001 model 735il black color. Shame I sold it.
Absolutely right
I think E32 looks the best, they also drive pretty well!
E32 All the way.. I use a '93 740i for daily driving. Love the beast!
Brian Aust i got 750 everything is perfect except one: mpg. it’s horrible driving in big city

I grew up driving a 1st Generation BMW 7 series. We loved that car! The 3rd Gen to me is the most classy of them all, what a Beautiful car!
3rd Gen 2001 will be greatly missed in our hearts❤.
Amen! Even the new 5 is too bloated and ugly to be considered a spiritual successor to the e38.
Agreed.
My dad has now owned a e38 for 4 years and it still is alive drives like a monster and a car you can relay on
MebeDev Gamer, I’ve owned mine fore eighteen years and it’s got 261’562 miles on the clock

I only got here for E38
The E23 and E38 are my favorites.
3rd gen 95-2001 best 7 series ever !
*94-2001* e38
E32- Second generation and E38 -the third generation is truly my favorite wish . Perfect 👌 design
The E38 and the Jaguar XJ of that time are the best looking luxury cars.
2008 BMW 760li black on black, is my baby, I'm happy to be a proud owner of this amazing brand BMW for life
3rd gen is the best looking and truest to it's roots! That's why my e38 rocks!
There are places like Munich Legends who can restore it for you, whatever you do, don't get a newer one, they're essentially gay discos on wheels.
man i love the E32 750I what a car. i own myself an E32 735ia a beautiful piece aswell
Second Generation looks best!
Second gen (E32) is my favourite (and I prefer the smaller, original grille). E38 is nice too but I find the back end lacks the subtleties of the E32 and is pretty blah. Not just favorite 7-Series, but one of my favorite BMW's of all time. They just don't make them like they used to.
3 words......Ultimate Driving Machine!!!
Generations 1 to 3 were nice cars. I forgot about the others ever existed.
First Series still most elegant!!!!
A Classic!!!
BMW should Reproduce the E38, I’d buy one
Same
If it has Tesla electronic, engine, and battery inside... I would buy it immediately

Such an elegant interior, i haven't seen in any cars even in those new 7 series compared to E38. Truly a master piece.
i came for BMW Happyness :) & my BMW e32 is from 1989 :) and i Love it ! I hope i can Drive my baby sune again :))

e38 has the best body style

E38 Dream Car
E38 is one of the best cars ever. There is currently no match for it's elegance. E31, 38, 39, 46, 53. These are the real BMW's.
BMW was on a roll then. (I'd include the late '80's/early '90's models as well.) The E53 is as ugly as sin though.
E38 & E32 is bae
3rd generation was the most beautifull one. It still is...
Stopped watching at E38, the last great 7-Series, absolute peak BMW.
Yes, the e38 is the best😁 Especially 750i (cause it's my own😊)
Bond Choice.
E38 1999-2001 is for me the best looking. I don't understand why presidents all around the world always used Mercedes S Class instead of that one...
e38
I really like that third generation. It was hard arrival for mercedes s class.
E38.... the best looking car BMW ever made.. that time was the best cars from the brand.. e39 m5
Except vanos problems.
Better 540 sport kit
I love the elegance of the Bayerische Motoren Werke E38 7er and the E65.
Love how the 4th generation section concentrates on the tech rather than looking too much at the exterior of the car - BANGLE!!
How much money get bangle to destroy bmw?🙄🙄
E38 and E65 are master piece
As much as everyone hates the 4th gen. I do love the way it looks
My favourite is the Second Generation !
The BMW E38 was the king of luxury cars!

E 38 is the best!!!!, if i remember E 38 i remember to 2pac Shakur

Е32 - Amazing! Beautiful! Strong and strict!
The third generation is just gourgeous.
Not a BMW fan but the 4th generation was truly a head turner. Even today's cars cannot match the top notch technologies used in it.
It shows how a legendary brand is collapsing through generation by generation!
I know I'm not the only one to think and say this but the E38 design and shape should make a comeback. BMW should figure a way to fit all the nice electronics and safety features on that shape and frame. That 3rd Gen beast will forever be the best 7 series.
Recently bought my dream car -- an E38. Best car ever produced, period.
Third generation 1995-2001.is my favorite
The E23 was a stunning car. The E38 is the best looking car, but I love also E30 E34 and E46.
E38 is the best. My dad had one. It was awesome
Great video! Like pretty much everyone else I really liked the exterior design of the E38 above all other generations, however wont deny the impressive technological advances of later models.
Worthy competitor for world's best car.
Still the Third generation is the beast ...
3rd generation is beautiful even today
First 3 generations are the best
BMW exterior evolution: from beauty to beast
I love the 7 series. It lost its way a little with the E60s & F models (still good cars though), but the G is a definite return to from. It's smooth and comfortable as the S-Class (also a great car) as makes little difference, but it's much more dynamic and fun to drive, which appeals to me.
BMW - Freude am Fahren. 😎
this is the BEST video evere of what is BMW'S power
E23! Fiets gen! My favorite! Bought one 2 months ago!
3rd Gen is the best looking of all!
E32 E38 and the E65 are the best
rade petejcuk make up your mind!:)
The E38 is utter class. The E65 is just one of those eras we should all try to collectively forget and move on from. What a tragedy
The second generation the best in terms of design
The E38 is just soooooooooooooo sublime. The E65 though... isnt.
The first really fat car I ever owned was an 01 740 the TRANSPORTER CAR and I really fell in love.
E23 745i SA with five on the floor and that M6 engine! The BEST!
