Oh my gosh that Thailand retreat sounds like such a freaking dream!!! I'm so happy and excited for you for all of your travel plans! You've inspired my to dare to go solo traveling. I've done it in the past BUT now this Sunday I'm flying to Thailand to do my biggest and longest backpacking trip yet in South East Asia and Australia and yesss I'm going totally solo and you've totally motivated me to believing it's possible. Thanks so much for that! This video got me even more excited and I can't wait. Have the best trips ever and enjoy your time at home before traveling! Looking forward for all of the amazing videos to come!
I've been researching backpacking Peru for several months then got cold feet and put it on the backburner. Recently got my first Osprey bag and when I was looking at another bag on the site it featured a Peru travel book in the promo picture and now I'm watching your video about traveling to Peru. Might be time to revisit 😁
If you can Cuenca is THE place for Christmas in Ecuador, it has tons of parades and activities that begin mid-December and continue through the end of the year. Inter country flights are quite cheap and fast. Cuenca-Quito is about $50 USD.
Loved this video! You have such great energy. I think you should Definitely go travelling now and see everywhere you want to see! You have your whole life to buy a house but you will never be this young again 👏🏼 and congrats on setting up the trip to Thailand it sounds amazing. So cool to see what you’ve achieved from UA-cam, I’ve been watching you for years x
I'm like that as well, whenever i see some inspiring and beautiful places on some videos i watch, i get butterflies and just wanted to go there. Yeah, just a wanderlust things. 🤩
Really loved this video, Christianne. I’m solo interrailing for the second time this weekend and so hyped. Back binging your videos like I did 5 years ago. Also thanks for talking about house stuff. I’m the same age as you and there’s so much unnecessary pressure on it these days!
We did flight into Lima, short flight to Cuzco. 4 day hike to Machu Picchu. Then "luxury bus" to Lake Titicaca then bus across to Arequipa. We spent Christmas in Arequipa and it was wonderful. Then north Peru - Mancora for NYE, for surfing and beach time! Then maybe bus to Equador?? AAAAH travel planning is the best!!
Oooh so excited you’re going to Ecuador and Peru because I have a trip booked to both countries in January and February! Can’t wait to see what you get up to 👏🥳
It is so funny that you're going to Peru! I came across your channel in preparations for my first solo backpacking trip... to Peru lol I'll be going in November/December so who knows, maybe we will inadvertently cross paths!
I also watched that movie on the plane after my peruvian friend recommended it to me. Loved the scenery so much!! As a travel consultant I make a lot of itineraries for Peru but it's high on my bucketlist to visit it myself :) You are going to love it so much!!!
I'm in Thailand in January and then heading to Queensland in Feb/March so I might see you there! Looking for to your videos on Peru. Heard good things.
Haha I am leaving for Brazil on december 6th and after that was planning on going to Bolivia and Colombia. Deliberately not wanting to go to Peru because I was not that interested. Then I also saw the same movie on Netflix and decided that I most definitely should add Peru to my travel plans! So funny. It's good (unplanned) marketing for Peru it seems. I just ended op on your channel today, I like your videos! And looking forward to seeing your travel videos in Peru.
This video came at such a perfect time! I've been backpacking for 2 years now and am quite exhausted. My plan was to leave in late August to Peru and stay until Christmas before returning home. Yet now, I won't be leaving until beginning October and 2 months just doesn't seem like enough time. I feel so stressed to fit everything in, including visiting a friend in Buenos Aires, yet I didn't understand where this sense of "urgency" came. Perhaps its because I return to uni next year and feel this clock ticking, but I now I will continue to travel for the rest of my life and in reality, there is no rush.
You are literally living all of my biggest dreams! While i have probably done more travelling than the average person, I admire you so much for actually just going when there's somewhere you want to go! obviously you're at the advantage where you can just go because this is your actual job (which i still can't even wrap my head around cos it seems to good to be true), I know you have made this happen for yourself. You have inspired me to just bite the bullet and book places i want to go, unfortunately, very recently, my dreams have been shattered a little since I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. And i am now restricted by access to my daily and weekly medication and treatments, which has completely devastated me... i haven't yet figured out a way I can back pack with my condition, but i am determined to give it a go one day soon! if you or anyone in the comments has any advice for me, I would appreciate this endlessly, because I'm not ready to let my chronic illness (at age 22) destroy my dreams yet
Hey really sorry to hear about your arthritis at such young age (my elderly mom has so I have some idea)… What I would suggest is travel! Take your meds and travel! Maybe not a very hard and rough backpacking trip and maybe not too much of adventure sports etc, but travel. Arthritis is there for the long haul, but don’t let it hold you back.
I resonate with you so much! I’ve planned to finish another degree, one year in, I’ve decided to have a break and travel the Southeast Asia as that’s what my heart wants 💗 the universe sends as where we have to go 🌞🌞 I’m definitely watching your videos to help my planning my big trip. Lots of love to 🌸
Check out Banos in Ecuador, they have the cutest Christmas lights! We saved all through covid after having to return from India and last month moved into our new house. We saved for travels alongside house purchase and figure we will just rent it out when we go again (hopefully in April!)
Watching this video whilst sitting in a hostel in Cusco eating my breakfast!😂 It’s amazing (Cusco, not the breakfast), soooo much to see and do. Went to Humantay Lake yesterday and it is unreal!❤
OMG!! Why did I not know that we’re the exact same age, Christianne!! I’ve been watching your channel for years and never knew!! High five to turning thirty this year! 🥹
@@BackpackingBananas yeah no problem, I’m from the States and I tend to visit South America here and there. Also, keep in mind that flying from Ecuador or Colombia to Miami(or Fort Lauderdale) is dirt cheap. You could get flights at about $100-$300 price range, but between December and January is holiday season, so prices are a little higher, February is cheap.
When I went to Peru I used a service called Peru Hop to get around which i highly recommend. A Hop on and off service around Peru and also goes to Bolivia La Paz. You choose how long you stay in each destination and go from there. Some beautiful stops along the way but Peru is amazing! and I think it’s a great option.
Hi! I often check your videos, and it’s my first comment:) Actually, I’m gonna go to Peru as solo in this November, too! I’d like to see you very much🌏✈️and thank you for telling me a nice film. I’ll watch it before going to Peru:)
Just throwing it out there but Peru hop is a really interesting option for travel around Peru. I have heard great things and honestly that would be my plan going to Peru.
I love Ecuador!!! Quito is amazing, the Galapagos is expensive... but you have to do it if you are going. you can't go to Ecuador without the Galapagos you just can't.
Good plan. Buying a house is overrated. I bought mine at 30, wished I would've waited. You go on your trips! When you decide to settle down they'll be excuses or other reasons to postpone travel. Btw, your hair is lovely.
Omg, you're going to be living my dream trip! Just before covid I'd planned to travel to Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia and wasn't able to go/went other places when things opened up as they were on the red list! I'm hopefully planning to go at the end of next year!Hope you have the best time, I'm going to be looking out for the videos!!
The stages you went through were similar to mine when I was planning my own 6-month trip around the world earlier this year, it brought back good memories! I don't blame you for going on these trips instead of buying a home right now; when you're my age, you won't regret not buying a house earlier but you may regret places you didn't see. I wish I was young enough to go on your Thailand trip, sounds fantastic!🏖🍹
I'm still hoping that you are going to make a Thailand backpacking guide? Would love to see it and really hope that it is still coming!!!! Totally understand that you have a lot going on but I am visiting Thailand in Jan and it would be super helpful. Thanks!!
Absolutely wonderful to listen to you and your dreams! You remind me of myself when I was your age as far as traveling - the only difference, is you're actually doing it! I bought the house instead ;-) So, since I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up, I think I"m going traveling :-)
Love Peru, didn’t get two months there but can totally recommend it. In terms of Cusco, if your looking for a balanced hostel with some party vibes but also work and chill vibes, Supertramp is the one. ( a bit of hike from center city to it but you did Pakistan so no worries)
Peru is a backpackers paradise! 🇵🇪 Prepare for that high altitude in Cusco! Machu Picchu is lower than Cusco and easier to acclimate to. If you have time I recommend going to Manu!

I watched this movie a few weeks ago, and it filled me with the same wanderlust butterflies, the next day I bought a ticket to Sri Lanka. I’m going in 3 weeks🤞🏻

The Thailand dive retreat honestly sounds so so good!! Hopefully you'll do something similar again with scuba diving in the future and for sure will join that. Moving to Australia in March so saving all my last coins 🙌🏾🙌🏾
No way! As someone who has family in Peru, it is such a lovely country to visit and a great place to practice your Spanish. Definitely recommend visiting Arequipa and the Colca Canyon which are between La Paz and Cusco. Also try literally all the food you can, it's some of the best in the world!
I remember the gap year to Peru video 🤣 I actually love your ethos towards money. Asking yourself what else you could do with £2,000 rather than having 1 week on the other side of the planet!
"why buy a house when you can go to peru" is gonna be my favourite quote to live by in the future
😂😂
Should've done a slo-mo, deep voice edit on that quote and made it into a meme 😂
Your eyes shine brighter and your face lights up more when you talk traveling over buying a boring house.
Thanks Jeffrey, the house is also gonna be smashing though 😅 just a more distant plan 🌚
Complete world tour nice effert,🥰

I’m so excited for you Christie! Traveling is way better than buying a house!
