I love this videos. I have been traveling for 10 month now and I use your backpacking budget sheet and it’s the best. Thailand is a great place to travel and live like a rock star for not much money. The wonderful part of how you traveled is that most of the money you spent went right to small business owners rather than huge corporations. You got to fully experience the place and have an epic time while doing it. Well done!
Watching this is making me so excited as i travel to Thailand later this month alas only for 3 weeks and not 3 months . i'm heading to Kanchanaburi to visit the death railway then 2nd and 3rd week will be spent travelling between Bangkok and Surat Thani a few days here and there just going with the flow, as long as im at Suvarnabhumi for my flight home that's my only care on the trip. So glad you enjoyed your time there this will be my 8th trip there
Hi thank you so much for this video! My friend and I are planning a 1 month trip to Thailand next year and my idea for the budget (excluding flights) was about £900-1000 per person. We might not spend that much but, because it is our first backpacking trip we want to make sure we have extra in case we need it. We will be sharing twin rooms rather than hostels but hopefully it shouldn't be much more expensive as we will be going for cheaper hotels. Also we don't drink alcohol so that should save quite a bit 😅. Other videos I've seen, people seem to be spending quite a bit more so I was worried we wouldn't have enough but this was really helpful so thank you!
Great video, thanks - I am currently planning out backpacking SEA from April for 6 months! And I am always thinking about what the budget is going to be, so videos like this very much help :)

Thanks so much for this video! I will be travelling in Thailand on my sabbatical and in my mind had budgeted £1,500 a month and was worried that wouldn't be enough. I think we have quite a similar style of travel expect I don't dive, but also wouldn't feel comfortable driving a moped so will have to spend more on other transport I guess. But after seeing this I'm going to allocate some of my Thailand budget to my New Zealand budget which I think will be much harder to stick to. Also loved seeing your sponsor - I hadn't heard of them and that is such a useful service. Thanks!
I'm a Kiwi and would absolutely recommend you increase your budget for here. Groceries are mega expensive at the moment. In Auckland you're looking at $NZD 15-20/ meal at the cheapest end in a restaurant (which would likely be Asian, we've got incredible Chinese restaurants). Beers/ house spirits are $10-12 in a bar. Queenstown is pretty comparable for prices, and Wellington too. Smaller cities in the regions are generally cheaper. Plenty of work available though if you want to pick up some casual/ short term work to not destroy your budget.
@@RussisSkuxx Thanks for the advice! I’m budgeting around NZ$7,000 for 2 months. Then another month staying with a friend and chilling so that will be a bit cheaper. It seems like a lot of money but I think it will still be very tight.

I'm curious as to what app or method you use to log all your expenses? I used to do this by paper and it was effective, but now that I pay with card on a lot of places I kind of forget sometimes and it's messy. Do you have a recommendation?
Hey Lucila! Thanks for the question. I have various budgeting templates that I use both leading up to travelling & whilst I'm away. All my spreadsheets are available for purchase in my shop here: www.backpackingbananas.com/shop I hope that helps! 💓
Can you please explain how you took 3 internal flights which only cost £109??? I'm in the North of Thailand currently and finding flights to other areas around £60 once baggage is added!
I guess it depends on where you’re flying and when you book! Also of course, always more expensive when baggage is added, often it’s cheaper to fly with Thai airlines or Thai smile where the baggage is automatically included!
If you’re backpacking and staying in hostel dorm rooms, then 3 grand is very generous for 2 months! With 5 grand, you can live and travel pretty luxuriously out there!

I’m going to Thailand, Singapore and Bali in September for 3,5 months and I can’t wait! But wait… 5 pounds for your laundry? You didn’t do that many laundries than right? I’m the average backpacker for sure!
Every week or so I did laundry ☺️ it was very inexpensive!
Hi, what do you use to track your spending while travelling?
Hey Mason, I have created loads of budgeting templates which are available for purchase on my website if you're interested! The Globetrotter budget tracker helps you manage your finances whilst on your travels :) www.backpackingbananas.com/product-page/globetrotter-budget-tracker
Thankyou for making this video! It’s so helpful! I’m in the phi phi islands now , in Thailand for 2 months! Can I ask how u stayed for 2.5 months , I have the 30 day visa atm , I’m from the Uk ! Unsure what i need to do to get an additional 60 days ?
Is it really necessary an internacional drivers license in order to rent a scooter in Thailand?
Really love your videos and wish you amazing trips for your future (if it includes Portugal, even better and I would be pleased to give you some tips!) 🍀
I've got about 3-4weeks solo around bangkok, koh samui, koh phangan coming up think i'll skip phuket and koh lipe and head to my working holiday in aus 😅
Sounds so exciting, you'll have the best time! Enjoy! :)
Really useful video, thank you! We are starting our 6 months of travel in Thailand and doing the south east Asia loop - Laos - Vietnam - back to Thailand. Travelling as a couple in our mid 20’s, any tips?
I met a girl on a plane to Krabi, Thialand on 7th December 2024. She was sat next to me but slept most of the flight but when we spoke it felt like there was something there. I didn't manage to get any of her contact details but I hope to meet her again.
Hi there. I’m going to Thailand next week and I was wondering if you can recommend any SIM cards ?
True move ☺️
What was your favorite place for scuba dive?
Hey backpacking bananas , can you drive a motorbike in places like Thailand with a standard Uk driving licence and still be insured by providers! Also can you recommend any good insurance companies
hey .. Im planning to travel SEA for 45-50 days. But Im being confused with flight ticket. Should ı get return ticket.? any downsides except borderpass? Im waiting for advices :)
Thank you😁😁
Pleasure ☺️
sadly Reatepunk tells me my 2 very much valid emails, aren’t and i can’t sign up 🤨
I'm curious as to what app or method you use to log all your expenses? I used to do this by paper and it was effective, but now that I pay with card on a lot of places I kind of forget sometimes and it's messy. Do you have a recommendation?
Hey Lucila! Thanks for the question. I have various budgeting templates that I use both leading up to travelling & whilst I'm away. All my spreadsheets are available for purchase in my shop here: www.backpackingbananas.com/shop I hope that helps! 💓
very helpful honey. thank you :)
Is 3 grand considered a lot ?? I was planning to go for 2 months hoping to save 5 grand for it thinking I’d have to be a little stingy with it
If you’re backpacking and staying in hostel dorm rooms, then 3 grand is very generous for 2 months! With 5 grand, you can live and travel pretty luxuriously out there!
@@BackpackingBananas thanks for the reply 👍
I really wanna meet you !
Awesome! I can’t wait to go 😅❤️🥰
Yay!! You’ll love it I’m sure 😎
hey friend, tell me I AM SOLO BAGPACKER ! , (FOR 2 DAYS ) so Should I visit KOH TAO or KOH PHANGON?
I dunno, do you want to party or scuba dive? 😅
@@BackpackingBananas i dont know diving 😅.. but still people are saying to prefer koh tao... rather than koh samui...
so what to do now??
