I bought a Yamaha CR-2020 receiver in 1979 and loved it, also for its design. Now, some 45 years later they are still using more or less the same simple and elegant design.
It’s a great piece of gear, recently reviewed elsewhere with the same conclusion, less or more: ‘product of the year’! ❤ Thanks!
Room correction with a sub is a game changer. The Yamaha system works as well as Dirac, but seriously folk need to forget about dacs and streamers, room correction with a decent dsp is the biggest bang for your buck improvement.
Found that deal yesterday on Amazon and quickly ordered. It’s going in my upstairs TV system driving KEF LS50 meta’s. Love that it has an HDMi ARC connection.
Hi, are you satisfied how Yamaha RN1000a match with KEF LS50 meta? I am thinking to buy Yamaha RN1000a and pair with KEF LS50 meta speakers but I couldn't find any additional information how they match together. If you can share your experience I would appreciate.
My very first "high end" gear was a Yamaha integrated way back the late 80's. I think it was an A-720, the first 5 watts were in Class A and that feature was switchable on or off from the front panel, they called it "Auto Class A". It also had "continuously variable loudness", a phono stage, outputs for 3 pairs of speakers, tone bypass and a record out loop. I actually used it for years, it was nice gear.
It looked a LOT like the piece you're reviewing.

Nice amp. I had the 803d and really enjoyed its multi faceted functionality.
Also pleased with the 803D. Interesting that the rated RMS power for the 803D is given at 0.019% THD, the N1000A states 0.07%
Not saying that the average listener would notice any difference, but it’s odd.
All homes need a receiver somewhere. Silver faces are worth double unless they are Sansui! What the hell happened with Sansui? The best receivers by far 🎉

The Yamaha is beautiful, build quality, usebility. In the meantime I have been won over by the sound of the techneeks G70. Make a comparison. Very interesting 🤨

I grew up with YAMAHA. It’s an admirable brand and definitely 💯 reliable. It’s a magnificent product to start one’s audiophile journey.

Very nice, but a nice retro dial with proper lamps would garner more love and appreciation.
You don’t want bulbs to warming up every time you are going to listen a couple of your beloved Pink Floyd tracks.

Use to buy everything " natural sound" Yamaha some 30 years ago....then I heard Mission Cyrus 2 integrated amp and realized I'm listening music with a wet blanket over the speakers. Switched to British made HI Fi gear and never looked back.
I'm an old guy with a Sansui 5000 from 1971. I bought it in Europe when I was stationed there. I was thinking of buying the 1000A as an upgrade. I was wondering what speakers you might recommend to accompany this receiver? The speakers would be in my office approximately 20 x 20. Right now I have two bookshelf Bose speakers.
Look at an SVS setup. They make very solid speakers at reasonable prices, especially their subwoofers. Maybe SVS Prime Bookshelf with the SB-1000 sub. You would not be disappointed.
I too have an RS130 and LOVE it. If you have not go get an ethernet to optical converter and use the optical input. Makes a big difference! Quick question, where did you get your stereo cabinet? Does it hold enough weight for any equipment you have used? Thanks!
My system has absolutely zero noise - negative noise if that could be possible. I did test the U2 with fiber and went back to standard. I think it’s system dependent really. Nice feature to have and future proofs for a few years :)
I am told the N800A is close the the 1000A regarding the sound. I dont need the HDMI so i dont know if you got a chance to look at it or got any feedback. thanks :)
The 1000 has a bit higher quality components inside, as well as a stiffer more rigid chassis for better sonic characteristics. I’m going with the 1000👍🏻

Agree. The only difference I find is the 1000 has the HDMI input which I also don't need. I'm going with the 800.

I love Yamahas receivers and av receivers. Nobody can be at Yamaha.
Excuse my ignorance but what does a dac do? Am I right in believing it is used to play streaming services like Spotify through it? If that’s the case then couldn’t I just use chomecast that I could plug into an amp?
I'm not expert, but as I understand it a DAC converts the digital signal to analog so your amplifier can then amplify the analog signal. Better DAC better analog signal. I use Spotify on my phone and use Bluetooth to get the music to my receiver. As I understand it, there is a DAC in my phone that converts the digital to analog. So assume whatever you are using would also have a DAC built into it. But a $500 DAC will do a much better job than one built into your phone or streamer. Depends on your system really. I doubt with my system I would hear any difference. But mine is pretty low end.

What speakers did you use with it? Did you try driving large floor speakers? Ie: Heresy IV
I was looking at the Buchard amp do you think it would be a worthwhile upgrade to the Yamaha. It is similar except for the exclusion of a streamer. I have a pair of Ogy speakers; quite sensitive.
It has virtually no distortion or noise. And among the best room correction. Objectively it totally transparent.

Just bought the 800 version of the. Didn't see the need for HDMI and wasn't sure there would be $800 worth of sonic difference between the two. Also found it on Amazon for $1050. Very happy with it, and I have some extra $$ for a sub now.

So I’m planning on getting the Buchardt S400 MKII speakers and the REL T9x sub, I currently have an older Yamaha network stereo receiver, and can’t decide between the new Yamaha N2000a or the N1000a, any thoughts on which one to get? Thanks
Get the Buchards first. Then... the... then you will never need to look for any subwofer. The bass will surprise you.
I have the Buchardts, my choice is Buchardts Integrated or Marantz 40N.
I didnt need the sub with the Buchardts.
@@kirkaparty4143 The Marantz 40N is also on my radar, but I don't think it has spotify connect, which I really like with my current Yamaha Receiver. I like being able to just open spotify on my phone and play/control, I think the Marantz you have to go through their app to play spotify?

Is there any way to get the brightness out of the yahama amps? If this is anywhere near the 801 model, forget it.
I don’t get brightness at all no matter the speaker I use. As stated, when using the internal streamer the high end is a bit harsh. That goes away when using an external streamer, at least for me. I don’t find the amp bright with any of the speakers I tried it with but it is a little lean in the bass, with a bit of a recessed midrange. Harsh highs can bring the impression of brightness, especially depending on speakers. With the little OGY speakers I have in for review now, this amp does the worst with them as these speakers lack low bass and the neutral sound of this amp enhances that. With the Alwxandria Audio monitors the sound is full and leans warm. So I’d say start with speakers, positioning and source. The 2000 arrives today so I look forward to seeing and hearing the difference. I find this to be such a good deal as it was being offered for $1200 and for everything one gets here that’s a steal. Also, this is not in any way an “audiophile” product. This is not for those who are very picky about sound and the like. It’s for those who want a stream, DAC, headphone, amp solution in one attractive box. Sound is great for the cost and features are a plenty. I listened to it with my Hertz ambers and they sounded big, full and with plenty of bass. Going into klipsch heritage the sound is leaner and top end sizzles a bit. So speaker matching is key here I think.
@@HiFiHuff Thanks. I really appreciate the feedback and more enlightened. I'm no audiophile and to be honest, mostly all analogue anyway. I don't have the high-end speakers you speak of. I've been tryin to find something to drive the elac unifi ub52 2.0s which I now find are low efficiency and my cambridge axa35, which is a nice amp, just won't get it done.

Very similar features to my Yamaha RX-A1070 Aventage HT. Using Totem Dreamcatchers in a three speaker setup across the front. The A1070 has a 4 Ohm setting.

It looks nice. But I tend to prefer a separate DAC, so when it becomes obsolete, I don't need to replace the whole thing. I, as many other people, don't have a unlimited amount of disposable income.
I agree. A DAC should never be built into an integrated amp or receiver.

I can’t decide between the Yamaha R-n800 and the A-S801. I mostly listen to records and CDs but would like to get into other more modern sources also. Basically it comes down to which one sounds best.

Great choice, I bought A-S801 for 570€ and RX-V6A for 440€, so i saved 800€ and ive got R-N1000 with more options in my living room.😊

The treble is a bit harsh and there’s no bottom end no matter what I did but that’s only my audition
I heard the treble hash using the built in streamer. Went away with the rose. As for bass, it’s more neutral and natural than bass heavy. Comparing it to the same cost CHoco EMEI, the CHoco has a much warmer sound, but it’s just an amp, no features. This is for those who just want everything in one box, and are not looking for “ultimate” quality. Being able to buy at $1200 is a steal. I’m listening right now, still in the system.My other amps are better, yes. Without question. They either cost much much more or lack any features. This isn’t a no compromise piece. Still, for those who have this level of budget it’s fantastic.
What about the 2000 which one is a better deal
I’m getting the 2000 tomorrow in silver. It’s $4k vs the $1200 you can get this for. I’m hoping it has a smoother treble and fuller/warmer signature.

AM/FM in 2024 is dab+ or digital normal. Terrestic radio is dying somewhere it is and bad quality. So is the receiver dab+? Most 10€ radio have that.hmm

When you compare it to everything else in today’s days in age where everything is overpriced you can not deny the fact that you are getting insane value compared to anything on the market in its caliber range.

I agree. If you want a stripped down version of this amp look at the 801. Basically the same thing without streamer. You can get them for under $1000. You can't beat that.

Can get this for $1200 new on Amazon. It’s a steal at this price for what it offers. Can’t compete with $3k and up amps but for $1200 it’s a bargain.
