Yamaha RN 602 is the best! Entey level but never the sound and feel. You are not missing out. Im really glad that Yamaha gave me the four way conbectivity to enjoy music. I use CD, Vinyl, Bluetooth, Wi-FI (music cast playback). My music playback is covered. Looks clean because because its just one box. (John Darko would approve) Looks are important. Pair them with Yamaha NS 1000 M. You will understand the whole Yamaha philosophy behind their sound signature. Mid range forward, life like vocals, and just the right amount of bass that you can control. Because Yamaha has tone controls! They understand that not all rooms are the same (duh) and some recordings are just bad.
I bought an R-S700 Rx a long time ago and it is a Fantastic piece of Stereo Equipment. It has Very Clean sound and can handle being driven hard. Very Nice Rx, No complaints.
Still very happy with my trusty Yamaha R8 receiver (85 watts per channel) purchased in June 1985. It drives my beloved pair of Altec Voice of the Theatre speakers purchased in August 1975. Hope these components last me for the rest of my life.
ive had yamaha,s since the early 70's. i still have alot of vintage gear. i just love the yamaha A-S1100 integrated amp, i picked up about 6 years ago. it sounds divine! if you get a chance , pop the hood on this one. you wont be disapointed. by the way. great video
I’m definitely a Yamaha fan, I have 9 Yamaha receivers/amps dating from the 70s to now, but I also love the sound and look of my Leak 230 that I proudly purchased from Just Audio ! 😉
Perhaps a tidbit of interest. I am now using my 42-year-old Yamaha A-960 while the Yamaha s-801 I bought 10 months ago is in the shop for repair. Got banana plug adapters to hook up to my speakers and an HDMI splitter to hook up to my TV. Works just fine. But it does make me worry about getting a new Yamaha like this even though the 1000 is very attractive.
Was looking for an inexpensive, but decent integrated amp for my wife's system (keeps her away from mine!). Bought the A-S501 Yamaha and she loves its simple operation and its pretty good sounding for the money.
Anyone know the tuning fork logo is different between their music products and their powersports logo. Look at my avatar as the motorsports/powersports logo. The forks extend to the outer circle.
I’ve been using various Yamaha receivers for years. I’ve grown accustomed to their control environment so much that I find competing items more difficult to get comfortable with, I guess this is just human nature. I’m sort of an old/new school guy so I still like real speakers, not the in wall or sound bar stuff. Right now my main unit is an RX-A2a which I really enjoy. I have an RX-A1040 in another location and my garage work area where I do hobbies uses a little RX-V485. They all do well. They all drive speakers I made. The to RX-A’s drive systems made of MTM mains with MT rear and separate powered subs I built. I only use 5 channels with subs, I don’t feel like devoting the space for 7 channels and such. The Yamahas sound great, I listen to classic rock, Brazilian, some folk and jazz and other genres.. love my Yamahas
Hi, recently bought used Dynaudio Focus 340 speakers for my home, currently paired with Yamaha RN803D. Speakers are great but still needs more power, can someone recommend better receiver. I am missing Chromcast feature on Yamaha....like Naim has. Thx
Hey Lenny. What would you advise me, RN-2000 or AS-1200 with a separate streamer? I'm not sure how long Yamaha will update the software for the inbuilt streamer, but I'm worried that eventually it might become an issue. It's mostly for music, but movies and series as well. HDMI arc is certainly handy, especially since I'm minimalist. I know those two receivers are for different purposes, but what's your take? Cheers. Saxe
Do you have this Yamaha yet? If yes please try connected some external DAC to USB port. I want to check that this port will be works with other USB device like DAC or Raspberry Pi 4 device. Thank you
My Yamaha AX-495 is a bit cheaper model but sounds great and provides good power I got it somewhere cheap from a farmers flea market I only cleaned it now I own it more than seven years it still works great
I have a few pieces of Yamaha Hifi, A-S500 and A-S701 amplifiers, CD-S300, CD-N301 cd players and two T-D500 tuners and have stuck to stereo since my RX-V640RDS AV receiver became faulty after 17 years service. One amplifier and one tuner have had repairs under warranty but otherwise they have also been very reliable. I will be keeping all of my current Yamaha hifi gear as I find they all function very well, with to my ears, a balanced if ever so slightly dry sound compared to some of my other equipment. There are two areas that concern me though. Firstly, my current amplifiers have two fixed tape outputs but I notice that as you go higher up the new range, these fixed line outputs seem to be disappearing making their integration into my setups more difficult, feeding Tascam and Sony cd recorders and Nakamichi and Aiwa cassette decks, whilst also linking into another room where the volume is controlled separately in the other room which obviously can’t be done with only a pre out on the amplifier. Secondly, although Yamaha have their MusicCast system, they don’t quite seem to keep up to date with the requirements of third parties resulting in (not just Yamaha but some other manufacturers) falling out with vTuner meaning I now have to pay vTuner directly to get internet radio on my CD-N301 and now on even these new receivers Yamaha are due to give out a firmware update just so you can get BBC Sounds internet radio (I accept this is only really of interest to UK residents or overseas listeners who want the BBC on internet radio) but it seems a little worrying that known issues with changes to streaming methods weren’t incorporated at launch date. I realise that the UK isn’t the biggest market for Yamaha but they have served this market for many years. I also have two Yamaha guitars and a Yamaha THR guitar amp so you can’t say I don’t rate their stuff highly. Great video by the way, it’s good to see a group of single manufacturer products side by side so we can see what we’re getting for our money in different price categories.
Impedance is between 4 to 8 ohm ,if you are using only a pair of speakers if you use two pairs of speakers impedance is 8 to 16 ohm .Watch specs from the amplifier manual .
I still use my Yamaha A 500 Amplifier bought in 1984. Now it is in combination with my 25 years old Mackie mixer and 25 year Tannoy studio speakers. The amplifier has been on 24/7 except when I have moved.
It's incredible how difficult it is to find specifications for these things, even on the Yamaha website those data are buried. And then when you find the data they are presented inconsistently.
Do you think the ability of these receivers to be something that is listenable given the context of the nature of hi-fi audio in general? Also, would you imagine that these products are something that one could appreciate given the fact that what we now know about these things is greater than what we once understood? And if both of these answers are to be true, what is it that these products are to be to us?
Great round up. Are the dials and switches metal on on these? I assume the 2000 is but the 1000, and 800? Also, it would be great to have a dedicated video on the room correction feature; like where it makes the most sense because I get the impression with room correction its going to be highly dependent on the room as to how much its going to benefit you.
Personally, I don't need the features of the R-N series because I only listen to records, which is why the A-S1200 is my first choice. But I have to say that the R-N2000 looks pretty damn good. The display integration at the bottom edge of the housing is a stroke of genius.
Thanks for the video. What amp would advise to pair up with a pair of Heresy 4 ? Being a Yamaha fan, I currently have an older YamahaS701, running a 2.1 setup with a Yamaha SW1000 sub & polk audio spkrs. However I was advised the Heresy is a brighter speakers ie horn mids & do need a warmer and better amp to run it. They have suggested suggested to pair them with a warmer amp ie Arcam25, Hegel H95. What are your thoughts? I do like the Yamaha S2200 or the above mentioned N2000. will these suffice or do i looks at other. I would greatly appreciate your response. cheers
yamaha makes a good product. aside from the hdmi connection, i don't see much of a difference from the older R-N803. maybe the new stuff has integrated Qobuz into the mix, which is a definite plus.
I have the R-N803D and think it is very good. I like to opgade to the R-N2000A, it is a big jump up i price. So my question is, is it that much better in power and sound performance? My speaker's is 87db. I know it is much better in building quality and parts.
@@LennyFlorentine i know, superb quality. But It is rated at 90w and power consumption 250w witch is kinda low. How does it feel playing on bigger speakers in det JBL l100 range? Love yamaha…. For over 20 years i have on one surround receiver - the Yamaha rx-V3000Rds. This brand just delivers quality. Next is gonna be the 1000 model on review here. I dont Think there is anything outthere that Can beat it👌
If your going to show us under the hood. I want to see the output device arrangement on the heat sink and the location of the bias diodes in relation to the outputs. Yamaha has had a problem with crossover distortion because of bias in the past.
You or someone should do a video featuring some the other receivers. There were so many other brands out there and all i see on most videos are Pioneer, Marantz and Sansui. No one shows any love to McIntosh, Tandberg. Luxman, Dokorder, Concord, Nakamichi or Carver receivers. Back in the 70's some that were in the military would go to the PX and pick up a off brand receiver and have it shipped home or bring it home when they were on leave. Remember Vector Research? Nikko, or Soundcraftmen. I'd love to see more videos with these other brands from history.
My experience and knowledge goes back too 1975, i worked in the audio trade in the UK, the products then were premium quality and still are today. My AV system is Yamaha based , My 2 channel audio system is also Yamaha based why you may ask. Simple answer they represent fantastic value for money, outstanding build and engineering quality. Yamaha for me is a company that is totally focused on sound quality and hey they just look so good, they have to be just some of the very best kit you can buy. If a company can build premium quality musical instruments then you know they can build premium audio equipment short term expense long term investment and every penny well spent

The receiver will be connected to my computer, so I don’t need the HDMI ARC. However, the R-N1000A has gold-plated speaker terminals, and I’m concerned that the R-N800A terminals might tarnish after 1-2 years, potentially degrading the sound quality. What do you think?
Thank you for the great review! I have an RN803 and an RN602 which I purchased only 2 years ago for around 600 and 450 USD respectively. They are fantastic receivers with great sound and functionality. I am not sure how these new receiver's stack up in terms of value as it would seem they are much more expensive with only marginal improvements. Is this possibly a way for Yamaha to increase their prices in a subtle way? The RN2000 is clearly in a completely different category to the others of course. Interested in your thoughts on this. I am not seeing anything which would tempt me to upgrade to the others.Thank you.

I bought the r-n2000a. It's a bargain. Toroidal transformer, huge capacitors from high end manufacturers and a reputable 192khz streamer. I don't need much more than that! I think the r-n1000a will become the best bang for your buck solution in hifi. It's all you need to get the best from 90% of speakers. I got ns3000 speakers which are an unsung hero of the Yamaha range. 90% of the ns5000 with less volume and surprising base clarity. I'm yet to hear better speakers than the ns5000 - incuding $100k+ speakers. Yamaha takes natural sound very seriously! Every time I try and explain this setup, natural sounding is the best way I can explain it! I haven't heard the new speakers, but they have much the same tech as the 5000 and 3000. I disgust they sound great. Yamaha trickled down tech from thier high end amps to the new amps, the r-n2000a had much the same tech as the AS1000 range. I suspect they've done the same with the new speakers.
I wish they would make the USB port a standard feature on ALL their home receivers and integrated amps , I have so much music on flash drives it's a deal breaker for me from this point on.

I love my new Yamaha reciever. It's Bluetooth and 11-1 . Wow every home with THX needs this. My old RXV1 still is working after 25 years. But my new equipment is state of the art.
I was a sales representative for Yamaha hi-fi in the mid 1970s. I still have the CR 2020 receiver and NS1000M speakers from that period and they both work perfectly. I'm a big fan of Yamaha products,
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
@@LennyFlorentinehello i have an Onkyo tx-7000 and the power button won't stay depressed which allows the unit to be powered on i can hold it and it will stay on but as soon as i let it go it goes off. How can i remedy this problem do you guys sell the part and how to intructions ? I know how to take the cover off lol i see the button but dont see how to remove it. Thanks for your help.
Those speakers are insane. I love them. Hahaha hard to get a pair these days.
Worked at a Yamaha dealer in the mid/late 70's. We loved putting the Yamaha receivers up against any of the other brands being sold at the time. They sold themselves. They were a bit more $ than the competition but that really didn't become much of a problem after the comparisons were over.
Have as 801 Yamaha and now ready to buy rn 600a for second system. I am very happy with yamaha. Build amazing receiver.
thank you for the great video...I own Yamaha R-N303...Would you think it's worth to upgrade to Yamaha R-N600A or Yamaha R-N800A? Not that I don't like R-N303,but what is your opinion?
4 years with the R-N803D. I think the spec is extremely good and way above the new base level amp shown here
I have the 803D too, and it's a great amp. I'd love the 2000A though ;)
Still very happy with my trusty Yamaha R8 receiver (85 watts per channel) purchased in June 1985. It drives my beloved pair of Altec Voice of the Theatre speakers purchased in August 1975. Hope these components last me for the rest of my life.
ive had yamaha,s since the early 70's. i still have alot of vintage gear. i just love the yamaha A-S1100 integrated amp, i picked up about 6 years ago. it sounds divine! if you get a chance , pop the hood on this one. you wont be disapointed. by the way. great video
How is the sound quality in RN1000 when playing music via Bluetooth? Plz reply thank u 😊
Been buying Yamaha since the 70's, it is very hard to beat their clean sound and build quality.
I’m definitely a Yamaha fan, I have 9 Yamaha receivers/amps dating from the 70s to now, but I also love the sound and look of my Leak 230 that I proudly purchased from Just Audio ! 😉
Right on! Good place to get HiFi! Haha
But it does make me worry about getting a new Yamaha like this even though the 1000 is very attractive.
do they have phono input? that would be great for me to combine phono, cd, FM, DAB and other networkstreaming
just saw it in the video: they all have.
does the 600 have internetradio?
I just purchased the 600 and love it
Wow, I musta been not paying attention, but looks like Yamaha stepped up their game on the build quality. Love the greenscreen too!
Thanks, we think it will add some fun to our reviews
Are the knobs made of aluminium or are they painted plastic?
Was looking for an inexpensive, but decent integrated amp for my wife's system (keeps her away from mine!).
Bought the A-S501 Yamaha and she loves its simple operation and its pretty good sounding for the money.
Good choice!
Can i care Your wife ;-) ?
Great stuff! Thanks for sharing!
Cheers.

If that thumbnail’s anything o go by, you really don’t like that amp. Did you drop it on your foot?
Would you recommend the 1000A or 2000A with a pair of Lintons?
would the Wharfedale LINTON Heritage pair well with the 800?
Do you have this Yamaha yet? If yes please try connected some external DAC to USB port. I want to check that this port will be works with other USB device like DAC or Raspberry Pi 4 device. Thank you
My Yamaha AX-495 is a bit cheaper model but sounds great and provides good power I got it somewhere cheap from a farmers flea market I only cleaned it now I own it more than seven years it still works great
Would R-N800A with Wharfedale Evo4.2 be a sweet fit ?
Nice review, Is the sound quality difference, between the amps, actually noticeable better at normal listening levels?
Thank you for taking the time to join in the conversation!!
Even budget Yamaha sounds great! Loudness control is the best and sets them apart from competition
Hello, what is the difference in sound for the RN1000 vs RN2000 ? And RN1000 vs RN800 ? Thank you
Which Av receiver will be the best match for Elysian 2 ? currently, I am running Marantz Pm 8006 and not satisfied my taste?
Throw an external amp on it like the Parasound a23+ shopjustaudio.com/products/parasound-halo-a23-stereo-power-amplifier-new
The R-N800A specs show a lower power output for 6 ohms compared to 8 ohms. That doesn't seem like a well made amp. Thoughts?
Oops, yup, meant the RN600A @@McBeakerson
Impedance is between 4 to 8 ohm ,if you are using only a pair of speakers if you use two pairs of speakers impedance is 8 to 16 ohm .Watch specs from the amplifier manual .
I still use my Yamaha A 500 Amplifier bought in 1984. Now it is in combination with my 25 years old Mackie mixer and 25 year Tannoy studio speakers. The amplifier has been on 24/7 except when I have moved.
Do you have any inputs on: ARCAM SA20? 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏……
informative video thanks! would the 800 be a good match to Klipsch Heresy IV?
Mostly plastic
Completely different build. Better for sure
@@LennyFlorentine i know, superb quality. But It is rated at 90w and power consumption 250w witch is kinda low.
How does it feel playing on bigger speakers in det JBL l100 range?
My rn803d I rated the same, actually it has more output power. I'm playing on Technics sb10
It be a no brainer if it had a little more power, and to sub outputs.
Why can nobody pull off that vintage hifi look?! No long tuning dial, no fantastic lights, just 2 VU meters, with backlights.
well the realistic, real gr7 mk2 sounds great too, it sounds like tm7 but in iem form
both went eol for good, theyre indeed limited edition
AS3200 is stunning vintage looking
@@MegaM563 eh, lacks everything but VU meters, incandescent glow, and shiny aluminum.
Then check out the SV228 by Vincent Audio. It probably sounds better too, it's a hybrid amp with tubes in the pre amp section...
I own an rn 803 paired with some kef q350s and my problem is the amp does no keep a bluetooth connection. It really pisses me off when I want to play quick music.
I've sold yamaha products for over 6 years. I went with the rn i03 for the musicast tidal connection. The bluetooth does not work tho. Be warned.
I have been happy with my Yamaha A-S701, especially in the Pure Direct Mode, too bad it doesn't have VU meters on the left panel for old time sake.
GREAT VIDEO!!! What would you recommend for my setup: I only have two front speakers, 685 S2 and an AS608 subwoofer. Those speakers seem to like power. I like to see the USB files on the TV screen...thanks!)
Thank you for the presentation! I missed the information about materials used for knobs, front panels etc. I'm a plastic hater!!!😉
Great video again. I still have my Pf 800 turntable and my Ns1000m speakers
Very nice!
Yo Just audio it’s The Son Of GVC Cleaning Company I Like Your Radio and Bass bossted
It’s going to rain savings! 😂😂😂 Good one guys! How do they compare to vintage gear like the Sansui 8080 and 9090? I’m asking cause you’ve heard both!
Thanks for sharing!!
thank you for the review. i have the lintons and i am thinking of buyinh the R-N1000A. any opinions?

I think Yamaha is a good choice.
How do they not include an HDMI port on that massive box?
The blend between classic and modern design, looks amazing! They might be onto something here!
I think so too!
I got the 800A coming in tomorrow, pariing with SVS evolution bookshelfs
Thinking of going with the same receiver and speakers, how do you like this combination?
@@MrUriel250 Man, I love it. I spin 90% vinyl. But it covers me on the digital side. I also run my TV via optic and it sounds a amazing for a 2.1 system. I got a PB1000 as well. The Bookshelfs can handle most music by its self. They also sound like little towers. I bought the PB1000 for when watching movies. All in all my best rig set up and I am in audio heaven.
@@budsmoker4201120I own an SB-3000 .. I am currently debating whether to choose the R-N1000A for €1300 or the R-N800A for €850, a €450 difference. The receiver will be connected to my computer, so I don’t need the HDMI ARC. However, the R-N1000A has gold-plated speaker terminals, and I’m concerned that the R-N800A terminals might tarnish after 1-2 years, potentially degrading the sound quality.
What do you think?
are they pure audio through the tone controls?
Pure bypasses the tone control
@@LennyFlorentine Not what I meant... if tone controls are in system is the signal path 100% analog, or is it diditized to accomplish tone control
The r-n1000a will be better than the nad c3050. ?
Thank you for the great review! I have an RN803 and an RN602 which I purchased only 2 years ago for around 600 and 450 USD respectively. They are fantastic receivers with great sound and functionality. I am not sure how these new receiver's stack up in terms of value as it would seem they are much more expensive with only marginal improvements. Is this possibly a way for Yamaha to increase their prices in a subtle way? The RN2000 is clearly in a completely different category to the others of course. Interested in your thoughts on this. I am not seeing anything which would tempt me to upgrade to the others.Thank you.
Dave, we have a great trade-in program if you are looking to get that 2000n!
I have always like Yamaha products. I do live sound. For small acoustic bands and duos. Instead of my large rig I have. I use a 16 channel Yamaha mixer, and a pair of their BR-15 cabs matched to a Crown power amp. For the wineries and brew pubs they play. This system work perfectly.
If they move the decimal points to the left by 1

hi guys, looking for your opinion. i have a Yamaha AS-801, currently paired with LS-50's and KEF 8"cube sub. how would the Linton's perform with this Amp compared to the KEFS. i also have a set of PSB 40 mk2's that i purchased back in the 90's. thoughts. also enjoy your vids
How do the Ls50's sound with the 801?
@@momocarmelo15 i like it, had them on a rotel amp previously and prefer the yamaha sound.
@@mikestewart2912 Thanks mate !
I’m using the C-6 preamplifier with the M-45 power amplifier.
Yamaha always looks classy and clean! Thanks
What is the difference in between a 1990s integrated amp and a new one today? A $20 DAC, that's it, period.
Great video, again!
Thanks Harold!
When are the KLH model 7s hitting the stores????
I wish they would make the USB port a standard feature on ALL their home receivers and integrated amps , I have so much music on flash drives it's a deal breaker for me from this point on.
