Thanks for this video, good information. Cutting the returns not only looks better and helps the hair move more freely, but I have 2 clients with alopecia that wear lace wigs 24/7, and cutting returns helps tremendously with tangling as well, because the cuticles on the return hair are going in the opposite direction. When cutting returns in the front of a wig, you've gotta be extra careful though and if I do it, I only cut about half the amount of returns as the rest of the wig, or use thinning shears.
I will be able to get hair in the future with the scales removed from the top part of the hair so when ventilated the returns won't have scales, but I always have so many things to do and so little time and money.
Hi, can you please do an updated video on how to ventilate a wig for beginners? My unit was plucked to no avail and I have been watching your video's to learn how to fill in the sparse areas but I cannot seem to get the "loop" part when I put the needle into the lace...if that makes any sense. If you could please do an in detail video maybe in slow motion and up close that would really help me out. Thank you
I think you should have emphasized to never cut returns on the hairline and center of the wigs. I've been experiencing with killing the cuticles before ventilation, I have the mixture from a hair factory in China, I'll let you know if it works
I said this in the end of the video, I only cut the returns on the areas that are not visible. The top part and the hairline and everything that matters will not get the returns cut. At 7:50 I mention where I am cutting the returns at. I also spoke with a factory about removing the cuticles from the root part of the hair (like 2~3 inches) so the returns can be longer and not tangle at all. But if there is a way to remove them at home I am all ears and willing to do that.
Good questions 1) It does prevent the hair from getting tangled in the root area by a lot, of course if you do that in the parting area or the hairline (or any exposed area) then you can expect the short returns to spike up. 2) Shedding wise it normally would do increase it slightly because when the hair is being brushed from the root (trying to untangle the roots as well) then the knots get slightly fastened a little bit, when the returns are too short to be brushed then any loosening in the knots would then result in shifting of the knot when you brushed the hair, because the hair would be brushed in the tail only and the tightening of the knot would occurred slightly offset every time which would result in shedding eventually. BUT there comes sealing, when you (permanently) seal the knots you really have nothing to worry about. So if you want to cut the returns in the body of your piece go ahead and do it
Super Wig Maker I love your detailed channel! you inspired to really give it a try. someone already asked but can you make a new, slow motion, zoomed in video on how to ventilate please? if you can use black lace and a cheap red hair (for contrast). thanks in advance
I now use a thinned version of liquid rubber latex, it coats everything and it is a skin tone, when it sets it is no longer soluble to anything and it is there to stay.
hi , im new to wig making, i do leave my returns a bit long. i made one topper, i am working on next one. im working on density. im sorta confused. one hole, one hair, is this dense or ? i get that two hairs per hole would be dense. so, one hair per hole is ? two hairs per hole? ( i cant find any text books on the subject. i do watch alot of vids tho) yea you tube!! and YEA Super Wig Maker!
Depending on how thick the hair is, if it is slavic you can put one knot in every hole and it will look natural. If it is thick asian you need to put two holes and skip one to make sure it won't be too wiggy
im not sure of the origin of the hair. i just know its brown and the hairs are both thick and thin, sometimes i grab two at a time, (cause i broke the smaller needle) i try to loosen it to one hair but if i cant i skip a hole. i believe its human hair, its silky and smooth in one direction and sort of tacky feeling going the other way. it is not folded in half at the track. its nice. so far. thank you!
Kathy Perry Then I guess putting 1 strand in every hole could make it medium-thick. You can put three holes and leave one blank then (if it is single strand single knot) If you do put 2 strands per knot then put one knot (2 strands) leave one hole, this way you do put more hair overall but since the hair is grouped more the base will look thinner.
Well a canvas head is better and more rigid and is saving you so much drama BUT this specific head shape and size is so unique that I had to make a polyurethane canvas head out of her mold. This is not a styrofoam head, it is foam in a spray can and I filled the mold and got the shape. Exactly like this one here: ua-cam.com/video/IRToV3IeUG8/v-deo.html
ssarryo The only problem is that it needs about a week or so to set completely, because even if the outer layer is set, the core is still kinda liquid and pinching it with needles makes it bleed polyurethane and if you have a wig cap it would stain it.

I can't wait to buy a unit from you

Yep I missed it!

I wouldn't want people to cut the returns on top, that would be bad :D
Why would cutting the returns at the top be bad?
Hello Could You do a "Inside wig " tutorial please , do you think Wire Combs are better to hold a wig ? Or clips with elastic band ?
Does cutting the returns help to prevent the hair from getting tangled? Also does it make the wig shed more to have shorter returns?
Good questions

I have videos like this in the past, if you see my channel and search in the older videos you will see
Super Wig Maker thank you. will do.
Lindo seu trabalho👏👏👏
Why can't you cut the returns at the top?
What type of sealant do you use to seal your knots?
I now use a thinned version of liquid rubber latex, it coats everything and it is a skin tone, when it sets it is no longer soluble to anything and it is there to stay.
Super Wig Maker where the liquid rubber latex you get from ?
Hi are you currently taking any new orders?

What permanent knot sealer do you use ?

Super Wig Maker Oh, ok. I see. The foam mold sounds like a good idea.
