BlackBerry KEY2 Review
Вставка
- Опубліковано 26 чер 2018
- The BlackBerry KEY2 isn’t the first Android-powered BlackBerry, but it is by far the best. Its blend of style, solid performance, a fantastic physical keyboard and a long-lasting battery more than enough to win over one-time BlackBerry devotees and people who hate typing on touchscreens. That’s not exactly a huge market though, and the phone’s many strengths may not count for much to people who have thoroughly embraced their iPhones and Galaxys.

Got my BB yesterday. My first BB. One word, amazing device. Hands down,
One of the best and unbiased review out there.
I think they price of the phone is a little steep, otherwise the build quality, security, physical keyboard and battery life itself is a good sell. I have stopped gaming ages ago on phones, so this kinda tick all of the boxes.
Now have to wait when this comes down to Australia and at what price.
How's that going?
@@mikeemicmusic rocking my Key2, how about yourself?
Ironically I was never a blackberry user till the keyone, had all touch screens before that and now I can't see living without a keyboard on my phone.
Same here. I've never used a BB earlier. My closest encounter with a PKB was my mother's Xperia Pro way back in 2012. Having a Key2 and I can never think of going back
Blown away from how good this review was. So much better then the Verge review.
You should see the unbox therapy and linustechtips reviews. Those ones missed the mark completely. Who buys a Blackberry to watch UA-cam?
@@BlueChinchillaEatingDorito unboxtherapy is a ignorant UA-camr made famous by sheep mentality people.
Nice to see a phone with a real keyboard, camera button, and headphone jack in this age of hardware minimalism. RIP little bird.
My first smartphone was HTC ChaCha. Then I switched over to Sony Xperia Pro. Two absolutely wonderful keyboard smartphones. I took the jump to Moto X 2014 when there was no real keyboard smartphone left in the market. 4 years down the line. I. STILL. HATE. TYPING. ON. A. SCREEN. The lack of feedback is SO annoying. You have to concentrate to correct your mistakes. Whereas on a keyboard say on a computer you do it instinctively. Anyone else who says otherwise is lying.
With an on-screen keyboard you are reducing the amount of data your body is receiving from your smart device. Why the heck would you choose to do that?? I really think its a corporate conspiracy that people are sooooo comfortable using their 'on-screen phone keyboards' but at the same time ask them to use an 'on-screen keyboard' on their PC/Mac and hell freezes over. Why the difference??
I and most people I know type more or equal on a phone as much as they do on their PC/Mac. Then why the double standards??
Bring back the physical keyboard! Its just dumb to think that lesser input is better.
HEAR HERE!
Amen keyboard brother! I'd trade all the pretty Super AMOLED displays in the world for a good, clicky, tactile hardware keyboard.
Buying it! Not a “die hard” bb can either! This will be my first BB. Looks too good and different to pass up ok.
i did that and will probably keep buying them from now on
I have been a iPhone user for years brought this key2 I'm new to BlackBerry and android and I'm amazed how far behind I was with ios
@@djgucciboy what's your verdict on the bb?
@@user-zr4wh3lh5v drop everything.. go get a oneplus 7 pro its one of androids best phone yet 90hz screen, 256gb, front camera is amazing especially when unlocking it in a crowd and the phone charges faster than anything it comes with case and screen protector on.. key2 freezes up and camera and pics are ok but poor stability and battery burns out way to quick after 6 months..
@@djgucciboy ohh. Thanks man. I must say I love the almond colour. And it's great talking to someone who has the phone long term and using it everyday. Most reviewers use a week then try something else. I have an HTC U11. Speakers are awesome. How is 7 pro speakers?
Gonna buy Blackberry key2 after national lockdown 😍😍😍
The key1 was a good phone and at $549 it was a fair price. The key2 is an improvement but the most it should have cost is $599... I run a small business so I ordered it, the keyboard and that battery is a must for me, I'm really fast at flick typing since I own a Passport, Classic and a Priv. My Priv lags really bad so I can't wait for my key2 to get here. The funny thing is that my passport still runs like a champ, it's the best keyboard ever on a BlackBerry and the phone is built like a tank. I'm using it now to type this. I hope the key2 is fun to type on as this passport.
Still have my classic and passport. Fantastic phones. And top notch reception on both. Now have a silver keytwo. Very impressed
I use the productivity tab and find it helpful and though some launch
Google Assistant (you can easily use voice command) from the convenience
button, I use the convenience key exclusively for the phone launcher
and obviously use it more often. Rarely experience pocket dials and it
is ready to go at any moment. I don't even have to look at the screen
or keyboard to launch the phone. Perfect.
I love blackberry. The class, the quality and functionality all blend really well together to give a great cellphone. I own 2 of these bad boys. One for business and one for personal use. All I would add is introduce more colors. Not gaudy types but more a suave feel resembling a mercedez in your palm type of thing. So colors like midnight blue, fiery neon red, gun metal etc would be fantastic. It's like your phone aesthetically and functionally is an extension of your car, right in your palm.
TheTraffic247 Look up "KEY2 LE" lol
@@JohnBilkey I know dear "lol". I'm talking about this phone to have those features.
A time saving review and straight to the point. A productivity device for 600 USD+ is too much, that too without wireless charging. BB photography is good in normal light condition but bad in low light and this video didn't address that.
I have been using BB for the last 12 years, Pearl, Bold, Q5, Z30 and DTEK 60 now....their phones are solid and would not die. Had to give those away after 3 years of use so that I could buy a new BB. But DTEK 60 is a real disappoint due to it's fragility as they made it in china and its so called gorilla glass kept cracking with every fall from 3 ft height. It's damn expensive to repair. In India, they charge Rs.10,000/$143 for the front glass and Rs.2,000/$29. It's crazy and not feasible.
Even then, I would love to see a solid built BB, a slider keyboard and relaunch of BB Passport in Android. But they have a nasty thing about getting things wrong time and again. They are far away from the pulse of the market.
Yes sir, the my feel better than iPhone. But they always have some Flaws that people ultimately get fed up of!!
Always used to amaze me when people used to touch type on the BlackBerry's of old. Bring on the touch typers!
This is a very very nice review and I appreciate that it touched on every single point. I have one thing about the reviews of this phone in particular that I don't like. The fact that every review of this phone contains some complain that this phone doesn't have enough horsepower to be able to run Fortnight especially I don't like because either way people don't buy a phone with keyboard for its ability to run major games. Besides that little discrepancy, I like this review very much. Thank you.
The short cuts on the Key2,(speed key ) try doing that on the Key1. Try doing that on any other smartphone. No other shortcuts and all other glass slabs can come close of switching aps, email, and texs like the Key2.
I wish blackberry would bring back the Priv with the keyboard off of the Key2, a better battery and a strong processor that is efficient enough that it doesn't kill the battery. The screen on the Priv is beautiful
Bring The Priv Back!
irk?
i still have the priv 1. i heard that priv 2 is to be annoucned later this year or early next year. i love my priv.
At least with anything other than the snapdragon 808
I'll be buying this, soon!
It's been 8 years since my last blackberry, the Pearl 9105. It's time to return. My main media phone is my iPhone 8 which is jailbroken so as a work phone, we gonna get shit done!
Best device, moved from a key one, had about 15 devices most of which were full touch screen and got too frustrated trying to communicate effectively on a picture of a keyboard, someone needs to fix that plagued tap a square image of a physical keyboard to type letters to form words mistake that we're still stuck with.
Camera is super fun and reliable
Multitasking apps and the short cut keys make this happen incomparable to all other attempts at a solid communication device, it just wins all day.
I want to buy bb key 2 but would u advise me about the signal and update, is it worth to buy in 2022... thanks
What’s disappointing for a niche but supremely premium brand like BlackBerry is that it couldn’t keep up its own operating system and instead switched to Android for survival. I understand survival is more important than clinging to its brand value, but I’m still optimistic about BlackBerry OS rejuvenating the brand someday. And since it’s forgone conclusion that BB is not meant for everybody, I’m pretty sure those minuscule population wouldn’t want something as ubiquitous as an Android. When it comes to a niche brand, it’s got to BB and iOS only.
Oh well, and I have a holy affinity towards Passport. See? I told you, BB is not for everybody. And those who own it aren’t like everybody.
Great review. Just pre-ordered mine. Not sure about the dead birdie though ;)
I think it's amazing to see a Hardware Keyboard make a come back of sorts. However Blackberry needs to do something about those screen bezels before I'll decide to actually get one. Still a fan though!
Great review. I need this phone
I just got my Key2 and am lovin it big time, can u pls share ur wallpaper? 👍🏻😍
Nice
I wish the key 3 has toolbelt. And also the swipe home fucntion on the bb10 back.
Also they need to make a professional version with more security options for enterprises and an 8 series qualqomm CPU
That was a great review. Thanks!
The typing experience is great tbh, so does the screen. But the phone is a bit heavy to hold while typing.
i loved the dead bird picture lol
My favorite phone. That dead birt photo was weird though.
They should've released the 2 and 2LE at the same time. I want the BB but don't wanna pay this process tag, I could've had a 2LE by now if they would've released it with this phone .
Blackberry key2 really doing decent job in 2018 with ok camera... not great,
hardware keys are holding it well for looking as a business purpose or handy use. those sensing fingerprint are nice tho!. and some of the better improvememts from keyone👍🏼.
I was wondering when will a Verizon version of this phone be available in the United States?
is the camera at least better than the key1?
Why do you show the viewer a dead bird...
KFC
I don't understand that move either. It was disgusting!
EEEWWW
You do not have to watch video negative Philip. This phone is for certain people with different likes than others. If you do not like it, move along.
No respect for the dead bird haha
I am loving my keytwo
Does the front camera have bokeh effect or portrait mode?
One of the best reviews I have seen!
Waiting for an Android Passport.
very good and honest review
I agree
Does this work with Verizon?
Buttons? Yes, pliz!
Ohh fuckk yeah! Something different!!!
If they don't make better use of the space with the Key3 i.e. a 4.7'' display and getting rid of the osb i'm out.
i dont think any kind of horse power can make an android phone run fortnite
cause it's not available yet
feelsbad
after using full-screen phones for a while, I just can't go back
Nice review.
Hi want to ask,is there any double apps, or double messenger like in samsung? Thank you
I can see Michael fisher
Here's me hoping for a Priv2 🤞
Here is what blackberry needs to improve about this phone so it will rock :
- thinner bezels (we have a lot of bezels here) --> if we only have the keyboard and the screen that would be fantastic
- Use Amoled technology for the screen
- A flagship processor --> the one used now is really dated
- Use more RAM
of course keeps all the great staff like : fingerprint sensor + the headphone jack
If BackBerry does this, I really believe they can have one of the best smartphones ever, specially that Blackberry had an identity and distinguish itselp from the rest of the compitition
Future look, future planing, Blackberry Look 2050 modran Phone
How much is the phone?
Think is 579 pounds
Has anyone noticed every blackberry key2 video has a key 2 ad
I am very opposite. I love the real keyboard. Hate touch screen keys.
I was gonna buy one, but I needed 256GB hard drive, Still Blackberry too cheap with their parts on their expensive phones.
Very good
The key 1 had a more interesting design, not a fan of the glossiness, but the key 2 is boring and half sharp and angular and half curvy and smooth, like, pick a side!
Emphasis on physical keyboard
사고 싶다 !!! :-)
is there any other android phone with physical keyboard and a lot less expensive? man i really miss motorola droid.. :D
Seems really silly that there isn't... Everyone is just trying to be like the iPhone was... I don't think we should have left the keyboards so extremely.
Keyone
How many times you'll need to review that thing. *Cnet and others your reviews a irrelevant* ;blackberry keeps praising its self as a brand that offers security, *we want a review that clearly distingushies black berry security from other brands* we want an in depth review of the keyones security
edris mateso I own the KEYone and let me tell you, the "security" that they rave about.. There's nothing extraordinary about that. You can download third party softwares for almost all of the security features that they offer
They have a privacy browser, vault, DTEK etc.
DTEK just displays the permissions used by apps, you can manipulate that with android settings too, and duckduckgo etc can easily replace their other apps. So if you buy this for security there's no point
Like no 81
Wrong price.
Fortnite, eh?
this guy is wrong in the head, who shows dead bird on review,
Overprice
Azam domino nope.
You can get one on ebay for around 430 pounds
Azam domino yass
The Vegans are triggered by this video.
No, we’re not. Nice try though.
I don't think in 2018 people can use physical keyboard in smart phone
ElShanfaraH you're wrong I a big fan of physical camera
🇳🇪
Why would anyone get it if you can get extra screen and a digital keyboard with a normal phone doesn't that make sense.?
As someone that constantly has to respond, professionally, to many pressing technical items in the day, evening, or in the middle of the night... It makes a lot of sense. It takes too much time to write a message, then edit it all again afterwards because you can't type fast enough to get your thoughts out, and be accurate... and EVERY single technical "non-normal" word / abbreviation / company name/ etc gets 'fixed'. Too many errors, too slow, etc. Trying to move the little android cursor line around is so frustrating, but you can move the cursor on this Blackberry with insanely fast speed and ease. I could go on.
Because a lot of people like a physical keyboard. Way Better than screen keyboard
You actually don't get more screen real estate once the VKB on a full touch device is up. Then the amount of screen you can view is greatly reduced and in some cases the BlackBerry Key2 ends up having more viable screen space for your content while typing.
Some people like using a keyboard and good battery life
I don't think a dead bird is funny

Not good enough for the money. Blackberry as a highly valued brand is dead. The sooner they get it the better. For $649 they need to be throwing in a much better camera, screen (OLED is better) and top of the line specs. They continue shooting themselves in the foot. Their ignorance is blinding. The 1+ is cheaper and better specced. I love BB but they're taking the piss.
kwl189 mobile phones are blackberrys side business, they make enterprise software, if you have ever sat in a new car I guarantee you there will be blackberry software inside.
kwl189 Go home and get a different phone.
Lol don't need to. Already rocking an iPhone X and already in bed at home.
I drive a new car and yes I do know about Blackberry having changed their business model to predominantly software from physical phones which TLC now do. Losing money however is still losing money and abandoning BB10 is crazy given the strength of the platform naturally in security but also the BB hub. Apks could already have been side loaded but they just needed to make it easier and faster to do it.
kwl189 iPhone x cost double of this phone if you had an android phone I would of respected your opinion and read the rest
