Yesterday I searched "hamster" on tiktok to see some cute little hamster videos... Oh my I wish I never did that there was so many videos with un-proper hamster care and people either supporting it or laughing it off. I was so mad when i saw that hibernation tiktok because if you did any research you would know that hamsters don't just suddenly fall asleep or "hibernate". Thank you so much for making this video and putting some right info out there.
I saw the title and immediately knew what the misconception was. My hamster actually died a year ago and I thought she was hibernating. Thank you once again Victoria!
My son asked for a hamster and I said no way I don't want that in my house and now he's my baby and Victoria helped me take good care of him, so thanks!
@@VictoriaRaechel no...that’s the thing. But he was only 10 months old. He has always been healthy and in a large enclosure. oh my goodness, I'm so happy to see my guide used as a source for this video! one correction I need to make is that you should not *feed* your hamster the warm sugar water. they're unconscious and will have a hard time drinking, which can risk aspiration (foreign bodies in the lungs). you need to rotate them half way on their side, open their mouth, and roll the sugar water across the tongue. the tongue is absorbent and will absorb the warm sugar water to help heat them from the inside. once they're awake and conscious you can feed them the warm sugar water normally. ❤ thanks for doing a video on this, Victoria!

A few months later, I came across your videos, and now Cobalt is in a 55 gallon tank with lots of chews and hides and hay :) I smashed that hamster ball into pieces and will never use or recommend one ever again. I really had no clue how to care for hamsters. Thank you, Victoria!! 🙏

I'm so glad I found this video! I've had one hamster before my hamster that recently died in November. My first hamster slipped away in my hand, so I knew he was dead. My most recent hamster hadn't come out of his hide, drank any water, played in his sand, and ate his food. When I found him, his belly was bloated. (more than his usual, normal belly) My mom used to have rodents, so she knew he was dead, though I was super uncertain. The next day, I started seeing "hamster hibernation" And I got so scared 🥺
My Syrian used to live in a small cage and loved it. Got him a 744 square inch cage and he loves it. Is 744 square inches big enough for a male Syrian?
I saw the actual Tiktok on my fyp because I became a first time hamster owner last February and went to learn about them. I noticed that the comment sections on a hamsters cage seemed peculiar so I did my research, found your videos, which are bootiful btw! And changed my hamsters cage. Anyway back onto topic I came across the video, and commented saying that it wasn’t hibernation and was most likely torpor or a going into death state. I got attacked by the toxic hamster community- so I deleted the comment- Thankyou you were here to talk about it!
I'm sorry to hear that! That likely wasn't the hamster community, anyone actually in the hamster community very well knows hamster's don't hibernate but go into torpor instead.
I haven’t been home for 2 months and my hamster passed away this morning and my mom cried her eyes out. She called me and told me he had passed away…I’m crying and my heart aches…My mom thinks he missed me and fell into depression. From what she showed me on the FaceTime he looks very stiff. Thank you for being my best buddy Milo..Rest in peace
honestly, i am really happy that you posted this video. many people have told me that hamsters hibernate, i have even seen videos saying this. when i researched, there were different answers. i find your videos reliable since the sources of your information are reliable as well!😀😀😀
I mean they should be staying in the temperatures of 65-75f (18-24c), you can always get a heater if the room is too cold and they should have an adequate amount of bedding.
Bruh, we need more Victoria Raechel cuts and bloopers. I love your vids but your always so serious. Don’t get me wrong, I hate to see awful hamster care but the end made me smile.
I wake up every Saturday to see if you posted. Thanks to you my hamster went from a 10 gallon to a 40 gallon from sawdust to care fresh, kaytee food to Sunburst with rat and mouse lab blocks, plastic hides Niteangel hides, from 6 inch wheel for Syrian to 12 and 3 inches of bedding to about 10 inches! You have changed my hamsters lives!
My hamster died over the summer and I remember at first trying to warm them up just on the off chance that she was in torpor. @@VictoriaRaechel I have a question I recently got a Robo Dwarf Hamster and my aunt told me to dispose the whole bedding once a week when should I be spot cleaning and when should I clean the whole thing?
I found my hamster laying on her side, limp, but breathing slowly, and kicking her legs. I tried waking her slowly, tried giving her water. But it didn’t work. Then I tried warming her up in front of a heater, it seemed to be helping because she did start moving a bit, but then unfortunately she started having this gag like spasm, made a few sounds, and her legs started going downward, almost like a seizure. Unfortunately I think that’s what happened. It was horrible, most traumatic thing I ever went through. But I was with her, I tried everything I could, as I was alone and my bf was away. A few months later, I came across your videos, and now Cobalt is in a 55 gallon tank with lots of chews and hides and hay :) I smashed that hamster ball into pieces and will never use or recommend one ever again. I really had no clue how to care for hamsters. Thank you, Victoria!! 🙏
I'm so happy to hear I could help!
victoria everyone on tik tok should stop making there little dance video and switch over to watch you I hate how they think hamsters don't have feelings or think they don't feel pain it a living thing not a toy and thank you your the best and why do people think that hamsters are disposable pets?
Thank you for your videos bc not only have they helped us but I notice now how much I now tell others online (who think their hammies are doing something cute or funny when they're really anxious or upset...or in horribly small cages/wheels) how to fix an issue with how they are mistreating a hammie...so know that even with 328k subs you're likely helping still far more people (and especially Hammies!!) Than u realize! Thank you again we love u!
I'm so happy I can help in any way!

THANK YOU SO MUCH! People have been telling me that hamsters hibernate and I’m like no Victoria would have said so. Thank u
When i was like 7 i thought my hamster was hibernating so i left him for a day then he started to smell, yeah he was dead
this exact thing just happened to me yesterday and my whole room smelled so bad
um i also did that but he has a bad smell,i think he's dead.I just bought him so much food,it was fun having him
@@channychu7961 aw, my hamster died from coldness? my room has been colder now bc of the summer and she went into torpor. I didn’t realize she was dead until later so I couldn’t freeze her or anything and my dad found her dead with bugs🧍🏻♀️
@@channychu7961 yeah u gotta take him out as soon as possible😭
Thanks!
This comment doesn't really go along with this specific episodes title but I just want to say thank you so much. You have helped me and taught me so many things. If it wasn't for you I would not have know 90% of the things I know now. In one of ur other videos u said people called u a know it all. But honestly u are not in a bad way though I feel like u are the ultimate hamster care professional. You have a lot of personal experience and common sense which is one thing many people don't have. Anyways thank you! Keep doing what u what do! 👍🐹
I love your videos and you are an amazing and kind person ✨💗
Thank you so much!!
I upgrade my hamster's cage and she is sooooo happy now
Thank you so much for helping me releasi my hamster's cage was to small .

I’m so happy. It is my hamsters 2nd birthday tomorrow, luckily on the day u post xxx

the end of the video was really funny Victoria i replayed it several times
glad to hear that!
Thank you so much Victoria! My serian just slipped into a hibernation and your tips helped her right away!! Great videos!
hey if u see this it’s urgent how did u help her
@@Daisy-cg1fh I warmed her up slowly to my chest w body heat and blankets. I had the heater on close to keep the room warm. Fed her the solution of water using a dropper. Be careful once they start waking up they might be confused and nip what near them. Hope this helps!

“This is going to be a series”!
Me: Yes please!!
Last time i said i was gonna get a 40 gallon tank but instead i got a ikea detolf!!! 😆
Congrats! 🥳
We wanted to buy the same today, but it's not available, my syrian needs to wait 10 more days in her bin cage. She's a 'hard-to-satisfy' one
@@Gwenllian25, same my sisters hamster is a very hard to satisfy hammy
My Syrian used to live in a small cage and loved it. Got him a 744 square inch cage and he loves it. Is 744 square inches big enough for a male Syrian?
@@idk-ow1gt, how do you know they loved it? 744 square inches is good, i would say.
I got attacked by the toxic hamster community- so I deleted the comment-
Thankyou you were here to talk about it!
I'm sorry to hear that! That likely wasn't the hamster community, anyone actually in the hamster community very well knows hamster's don't hibernate but go into torpor instead.
Everytime I see someone asking about hamsters I reccomend your channel
Well thank you! 😀
I just got my first Syrian hamster couple of days ago 😍
Congrats!
i saw a tiktok where they buried there hamster in there backyard then it unburied it’s self because it wasn’t dead 😟😳
Likely was fake. Don't believe everything on tik tok.
the reason i think hamsters hibernate cause my textbook once said that they hibernate and mine doesn't.
WHA-
I mean hamsters in captivity shouldn't be "hibernating" (torpor) because they don't have the same environmental factors as living in the wild.
I think your videos are the best hamster videos I've seen so far
Thank you!

Victoria: screaming at the light at the end of the video

The hamster fail care is the 99%
The Hamster Good Care is the 1%

@HUSSEIN NORAH what?!
its kind of crazy how so many "experienced" hamster owners know pretty much nothing about hamsters.
Thank you so much my hamster was in torpor but now thanks to u shes moving more and doing most of her stuff she does
honestly, i am really happy that you posted this video. many people have told me that hamsters hibernate, i have even seen videos saying this. when i researched, there were different answers. i find your videos reliable since the sources of your information are reliable as well!😀😀😀
Happy I could help talk about it a bit more!

Hey Victoria, how do I know if my hamster is cold and how to keep him warm?
I mean they should be staying in the temperatures of 65-75f (18-24c), you can always get a heater if the room is too cold and they should have an adequate amount of bedding.
my hamster died a few weeks and i was getting anxiety that i buried her alive
a d r i a n n a sorry for your loss
omg
My hamster just died , I wanna thank you tori without you she wouldn’t be the happy girl she was
Bruh, we need more Victoria Raechel cuts and bloopers. I love your vids but your always so serious. Don’t get me wrong, I hate to see awful hamster care but the end made me smile.
Thank you haha I'm glad it could put a smile on your face!

The funny thing is, i was just talking to someone about if hamster hibernate. I said they didn't i was right 😊

That's really great to hear!
My hamster died over the summer and I remember at first trying to warm them up just on the off chance that she was in torpor. Sadly she wasn't as I could start to feel rigor mortis set in, but its so important that people know these things about hamsters. Tiktoks about hamsters stress me out because of all the misinformation and I just wish everyone watched you because you give such good advice and information
While I watch this my hamster watches this with me
Ps(if hamsters get to cold they won’t move and kinda hibernate but they are alive)
I'm going to make a pet channel with my gerbils and they live in a 40 gallon tank and 10 inches of bedding
@Animal 101 they do!
Why is my hamaster screaming when i just put them back at their cage whenI cleaned it but the first time i cleaned it they're not screaming why tho?
Full cage cleans are very stressful to a hamster, and really only spot cleaning should be done.
@@VictoriaRaechel I have a question I recently got a Robo Dwarf Hamster and my aunt told me to dispose the whole bedding once a week when should I be spot cleaning and when should I clean the whole thing?
Wait this should totally be a series!! You will not run out of topics anytime soon. Tiktok is full of hamster misinformation and mistreatment 😭
That’s the main reason that I say tiktok sucks
I found my hamster laying on her side, limp, but breathing slowly, and kicking her legs. I tried waking her slowly, tried giving her water. But it didn’t work. Then I tried warming her up in front of a heater, it seemed to be helping because she did start moving a bit, but then unfortunately she started having this gag like spasm, made a few sounds, and her legs started going downward, almost like a seizure. Unfortunately I think that’s what happened. It was horrible, most traumatic thing I ever went through. But I was with her, I tried everything I could, as I was alone and my bf was away. We buried her in my mom in laws garden, I’ll miss her forever ♥️
Wanna also mention, after the seizure, she immediately stiffened up and went into rigor mortis
Lol immediately when I saw this going around in tiktok I thought Victoria was gonna make a video debunking it
Sadly, my hamster has died because of torpor about one month ago, if I've watched this video, she can be saved.
R.I.P
Now this is why I don’t have tiktok
Not because my parents won’t let me😊
Thank you finally im not the only one who their parents won’t. Let have TikTok 😂

I’m getting a hamster tomorrow and I’m so excited!!! Thanks to you I know all the care I’ve been waiting for months but I’ve watched every single hamster care video on yt 🤗😂
Oh congrats! It's always exciting!
I just learned quite a few terms today. It’s been a while since I’ve checked out much content, but I love what I’m seeing.
2 of my hamster went through this a sadly passed away.
can i ask question? why my hamster is sleeping at night?
That’s ok sometimes they can adjust there sleep schedule based on the owner and they are also crepuscular when I had my hamster it sleep in the night and came out at dusk and dawn
My hamster 2nd hamster sleeps at night he is getting used to sleep in the morning
Sometimes hamster adjust their sleep schedule to their owners. It’s happened to mine before. If there is more weird behavior however I’d talk to your vet
Sometimes they wake up later when you are asleep, especially in winter
@@myzoo2856 not really if a hamster is either reaching old age than yes but aswell as hamsters could be asleep at 12 at night and be completely active at 3 in the morning that’s atleast what I have experienced with my hamster she will be asleep until 10 at night and active at 4 in the morning but it could be something else I guess it depends on a hamster.
(Some) hamster owner in indonesia when their hamster lethargic: "oh no, my hamster is hibernating"
Me: "it is 30 C (86 F) at where you live. How can a creature hibernate at that tempterature?"
😅 they may be going through heat stroke which is also dangerous

@TheDoggo you can’t put 4 dwarf hamsters together. Unless you are very very experienced with hamsters you could put 2 together but either way it would still be very risky.
