@twirap If you come to Niagara again, you can easily fish the Lower Niagara River by going to Queenston (10 minutes away from Niagara) and fish form shore by the boat ramp which can be found at the end of Dumfries St. Another great spot to fish form shore for trout and salmon is Port Delhousie (this is also about 10 - 15 mins from Niagara) If you go there, you will see everyone fishing - there's plenty of room along the shoreline to fish. Good luck - hope you're able to give it a try!
Wanted to say hey to Claudio!! I was just looking at popular fishing videos and was surprised to see him in youtubeland! I worked with Claudio during one of my internships a few years back and he took my dad and I fishing on the Niagara escarpment! I now live in the Pacific northwest and still fishing! Please wish him well and get him in touch with me.
@AwesomeWweThemeSongs This style of fishing will work from piers or ponds. Rainbows do bite in the summer - best in early morning or late evening. Smaller fish will eat mainly insects and small minnows. Larger fish will eat mainly fish, crayfish & also insects. Thanks for your inquiry
That was very helpful. I'm targetting brown trout in my local river and haven't caught one yet this season. I've not used this method....yet 😉 Thank you!
im sorry but i think its funny how your talking and the fishing action is going on behind you lol but anyways i love your videos very informational and you learn a lot thanks and keep up the good work
@JasonJForrest Glad you enjoyed the video and that was a good observation...there were some people fishing beside us who also had a good day on the water that day! Thanks for writing in and good luck on the water.
of course you can ask and we are happy to help - this episode was filmed in Queenston Ontario. If you go down to the boat ramp, you will be able to find a spot along the shore line to fish. There is a spring run and a fall run (November is excellent)
@FishinwitKevkev Glad you enjoyed the video. As the person also mentioned below, with a sensitive rod (such as a one piece graphite rod), you will easily be able to feel the bite. If you do not have a sensitive rod, you can keep your hand on your line and sense a bite that way. Either way though, it's not a problem....these brown trout are usually very aggressive with their hits. Thanks for tuning in & good luck on the water!
Hi Goga56 - thanks for writing in. Although we never put our hands in a fish's gills (typically very carefully underneath the the gill cover instead) holding the belly & the tail are certainly an excellent way to hold the fish. It does make it easier to release & with this method (as you most likely are aware), there is also caution which needs to be exercised as a strong fish can easily shake his way out your your hands, falling to the ground. Hope you have a great year on the water :)
@IFwetrust1 Yes, this rig will work for you. For catfish though, we like about a 3 foot leader. The T-Turn swivel will keep the leader line from wraping itself around the sinker line. It works great and it's a pleasure reeling in the fish. Thanks & good fishing to you!
@FishinwitKevkev when you dont have a bobber on you feel for the line to tighten up and and with some fish if you are holding the rod you will feel a thud on your rod
Great to hear from you in Buffalo. If you have any rainbow roe, that would work really well tied as a roe bag otherwise, live minnows will work and light line or fluorocarbon line is key as trout are very weary and spook easily. Also, if you can get a hold of any leaf worms, they also work well at this time of year :) Opening season is just around the corner and I hope you have an outstanding day!
Hook Size was 1, octopus style, gamakatsu brand, and you can use 12 lb test line. Glad to hear you are getting into fishing and you'll have to check out our Thundermist Fishing Tips web site and our UA-cam channel :) You'll find plenty of tips and you can search for topics as well. Thanks for writing in and good luck on the water!
lol we went after trout yesterday, the one you called little Is far beyond massive for what we get here. my three browns were only around six inches. i'll gladly take your "little" fish any day.
I have been watching some of your content lately and I keep wishing I could go to these crazy spots and I now made the connection 'holy crap this guy is literally fishing in my city!?!!?!'
We like to use roe bags or streamer flies :) You will like this method as it really works great. you can even use minnows if you want as they are also very effective.
If you hold the fish like this, you must be sure to just hold it under the gill cover, not in the gills. Under the gill cover and not touching the gills is very safe - otherwise, an alternate way is to grab hold of the tail area and then put the palm of your hand under the fishes head. Thanks for taking time to write and until next time good luck and good fishing!
@FishOnFishing ....the other option you have is to use artificail salmon eggs. there are plenty available on the market - Cabelas & Bass Pro shops both carry a nice selection. Hope you are able to get some & good luck on the water!
@AwesomeWweThemeSongs As a general rule, 6" of line to your hook woudl be good and having the hook 3" shorter that the sinker is also good. This is a good set up for all game fish. If you were fishing for bottom fish, such as catfish or carp, then you would want your hook line to be longer than your sinker line, so the bait will sit on the bottom. Thanks for writing in and good luck on the water.
@xxgg Glad you enjoyed the video - yes, the 3 - 4 inch Gulp will work for you. It's a good bait as unlike a live minnow, it will stay on your hook better and longer, in conditions such as the one we were in (i.e. heavy current) Thanks for writing in and good fishing!
LOL at the guy behind you netting out a fish at 1:02 while youre talking about the roe bags (: Awesome fishing spot you have here, I love fishing for Trout, We dont have very many salmon here in ohio , but I live on the far west edge of Lake eries steelhead alley. mainly steelhead, some browns and brooks, very few salmon in west edge of Steelhead alley. I believe its because the western basin of Lake erie is so shallow the Salmon all stay out off New york and pennsylvania where its deeper/cooler
You can get roe bags from a bait and tackle shop. If not, you can make your own (roe bags are salmon or trout eggs tied in a sac - we have a video showing how to do this as well) If all else fails, there are also artificial roe bags, but they do not work as well as the real deal :)
@Dirka13 In this case, it's best to leave it in one spot as there are many snags and also, these brown trout are constantly on the move, so keeping the bait in one spot is a good pattern to key in on. Thanks for writing in and good luck on the water!
@FishOnFishing Check with you local bait & tackle shop - they may carry them....or, if you happen to catch a salmon and keep it for the dinner table, it may also have some eggs. Thanks for writing in and good lcuk on the water.
If you want to use light line such as 4 - 6 lb test, suggest using an 8 or 9 foot rod, medium action. If you are going to use heavier line, you can get away with a 7 foot rod, also medium action :) Good luck!
What's that cap you're wearing where it has that extra fabric that covers your neck? It seems like a good way to prevent my neck from being sun burned.
@live2fish1000 Some stores are carrying the T-Turns, so check with your local store to see if they have them. If they do not, we can set up an account for them and ship them to them. Otherwise, if all else fails, you can get them on line at the Thundermist Lures web site. Thanks for tuning in and until next time, good luck and good fishing.
@Makotv1 We have never heard of bluegills being used for brown trout. Brown trout will feed on fish in general. Perhaps if the bluegill are small enough, the browns may take them. First though, you should check your regulations to see if bluegills are allowed as bait. Thanks!
One of the best methods would be to use a live minnow rig. Try to keep your minnow lively and if you use a T-Turn and tie a hook off the T-Turn, this will allow the live minnow to swim around freely, enticing the trout to bite. Good luck!
what a tight spot you are fishing from,,, poor camera man didn`t even move an inch D; nice video, I`ve been watching all your videos again and again.. is it the lakeport rd behind you?
oooops - sorry wrong episode - this one was filmed in Port Dalhousie Ontario. You can fish anywhere from the dam right to the mouth of Lake Ontario and all are great spots to fish :) (PS> Queenston is also another great spot and we have a couple of episodes there as well :)
@abaseball61 Glad you enjoy our videos and we will have more coming your way! Thanks for taking time to write and as always, until next time good lcuk and good fishing!
It a great cap and I love using it in the full sun when I'm out on the water. You can find these style hats at Walmart and Cabelas, as well as many other stores. You will like using them :)
Middle of November hey! Has anyone else notice the trees are green and just starting turn to fall colors! I don't think these guys want you to catch fish in their fishing hole!
I fished there before i see people using such long leaders and bombing casts into the middle of the river but you just threw it out just only 10 feet or so and used such a short leader. Seems like you also caught a decent amount of fish to keep up the great work!
@dahly0119 Glad you enjoyed the video and you also have some great fishing on the Gulf Coast! We love that salt water bite. Thanks for writing in and good lcuk on the water!
1) Yes, all year round, but spring and fall are best 2) Yes, all year round 3) drifting - bottom bouncing 4) Yes 5) If the water is real shallow, you can fish suspended, but otherwise, you will want to be fishing the bottom :)
hey i have a question, i absolutely love trout fishing, but the only time i catch trout is at a river or loud and fast stream, i try to fish the smaller streams, but the trout just seem to know im their, i hide in brush, softly throw my bait out, and let it go down, but i never catch anything in those streams, what do you suggest i do?
thanks for taking time to write and we are very happy that you are enjoying our videos :) Until next time good luck and good fishing!
@jon0g We were using 2 oz. sinkers. They seemed to be holding bottom pretty good. Thanks!
The trout and salmon both move into this are to spawn at this time of year & roe is a very good bait.
@smokestorm88 We also enjoy catching trout as they can be very challenging. Thanks & good fishing!
Nice fish! Good for you guys

@FishingwithKT We have heard that the browns will bite through the winter into spring. We havn't fished there during those times. Thanks!
The net is fine. We tend to stretch too much rather than to bring the fish closer. :) Thanks!
0:45 looked like a fish surfaced right behind you! awesome video
@WTRAIN63 Thanks! Good Fishing!
those are some nice browns!
@AwesomeWweThemeSongs This style of fishing will work from piers or ponds. Rainbows do bite in the summer - best in early morning or late evening.

Tglaw99 Plenty of fantastic fishing in Port Delhousie and hope you are able to get out and enjoy some if it :)
it would be sweet if you guys fished in California

great vid as usual, can you move the bait at all or is it best to leave it in one spot?
@Reptilesandfish Thanks for tuning in and good luck on the water this spring!
@AwesomeWweThemeSongs As a general rule, 6" of line to your hook woudl be good and having the hook 3" shorter that the sinker is also good. This is a good set up for all game fish.

What alternative bait can be used ?
I've heard of people having success with 3~4" Gulp Minnow. (?)

We like to do both....sometimes we catch and release and other times we catch and keep.....there's nothing like a good fish fry :)
@FishOnFishing Check with you local bait & tackle shop - they may carry them....or, if you happen to catch a salmon and keep it for the dinner table, it may also have some eggs.
Thanks for writing in and good lcuk on the water.
nice fish guys, going to Calgary next year, do ye know if the fishing is good in those part of the woods?
Sounds like you have some great days on the water - thanks for tuning in!
@muratdemircanada It was a little tight for shoreline space but we managed. Yes, that's Lakeport Rd. Thanks for writing!
We did have a nice day on the water that day :) Thanks for writing in and glad you enjoyed eh video
i live in North Dakota and i regularly fish in the Missouri River, do you think this fishing rig could work for walleye and catfish?
If you want to use light line such as 4 - 6 lb test, suggest using an 8 or 9 foot rod, medium action. If you are going to use heavier line, you can get away with a 7 foot rod, also medium action :) Good luck!
What's that cap you're wearing where it has that extra fabric that covers your neck? It seems like a good way to prevent my neck from being sun burned.
Hows the fishing in the winter and the spring?
Thank you for the kind words - much appreciated :)
What size and weight rod is best for brown & rainbow trout? Thanks.
@thundermistlures can you please tell me what size are your hooks and how many pounds is your line I'm very new at fishing thank you.
Nice big brown, hope you kept it. Not good to hold em by the gills like that
Were those spawning fish? Im assuming some were if there were eating roe.
@live2fish1000 Some stores are carrying the T-Turns, so check with your local store to see if they have them. If they do not, we can set up an account for them and ship them to them. Otherwise, if all else fails, you can get them on line at the Thundermist Lures web site.

that brown trout was enormous. Nice setup Ivo. Great boatless angling right there!
@Makotv1 We have never heard of bluegills being used for brown trout. Brown trout will feed on fish in general. Perhaps if the bluegill are small enough, the browns may take them. First though, you should check your regulations to see if bluegills are allowed as bait. Thanks!
What were they using for bait ?
@lustrouscyan We will certainly mention this to Claudio as he would be very happy to receive tis notice. Thanks & good fishing!
Sounds like you are doing the right things, perhaps try the same quiet technique but be sure to cast upstream, and also, try smaller baits - good luck
One of the best methods would be to use a live minnow rig. Try to keep your minnow lively and if you use a T-Turn and tie a hook off the T-Turn, this will allow the live minnow to swim around freely, enticing the trout to bite.
Good luck!
@tikas18 It's really good especially in the fall. Good fishing!
@sdebassige Thanks...gotta love those gobies!
We'd like to make our way out there some day and try fishing for those California Halibut :)
what a tight spot you are fishing from,,, poor camera man didn`t even move an inch D; nice video, I`ve been watching all your videos again and again.. is it the lakeport rd behind you?
Boys, you got to invest in a longer handled net. or longer arms!
@MrBennaye Thanks for tuning in - hope you enjoyed the video & until next time, good luck and good fishing!

Thanks for writing in and good lcuk on the water!
@XxDjaaaaxX Thanks for being the first! You're #1 :)
Hey Ivo what is the address to this place I want to fish here
port delhousie Ontario :)
There was fish jumping everywhere and you didnt see them.
@ridgetownpimp Thank you, illegal in my country,
Is it dangerous to the fish to hold it by the gills like that? Or am I underestimating the fish's ability to survive.
1) Yes, all year round, but spring and fall are best 2) Yes, all year round 3) drifting - bottom bouncing 4) Yes 5) If the water is real shallow, you can fish suspended, but otherwise, you will want to be fishing the bottom :)
