I’m always amazed at your casting accuracy. You flip those lures and jigs in the tiniest holes with ease.
Bro, I thought it was just me. I am good at casting but John makes me look like a 5 year old lol.
Practice makes perfect, I guess. He's posting multiple videos every week, he should be good by now!
Word. It's why he catches so many fish.
He’s turned into such a self satisfied tool since he quit working for a living
You get really accurate with a spinning reel after a lot of use. I’ve been using for a few years, I’m decently accurate but I can fluke a little bit
Agora está a cara do Brasil. Para chegar a um riacho tem que atravessar matas fechadas. 😂
This was a "Way Back Machine" vid for those of us who spent out youth with minimal, often primitive, gear and collected grasshoppers on the way to the creek. To this day, panfishing is more fun than all the riggamarole of rigging up a bass boat, towing $$$ and riding the jet ski, houseboat and pontoon wakes. Well done. Don
Theres something to being a kid again and just going out for the fun of fishing & exploring rather than going for "the BIG one" ! You got me into the UL scene, John, and been using for for bridge fishing little creeks in my area. Keeps this 66 year old feeling like a kid again! :-) Thanks for all your great influence, John!
Agreed
😀@@tomcaldwell5750
This is the best channel I have subscribed to. Big fish are nice but a small fish can feel bigger with lite gear! lol Thanks for sharing the adventures and encouraging mine!
Love the ultra light. I use it for about everything anymore. Wading the crick brings back so Many good memories. Great video, John.
We have creeks just like this all over the place and the same results with small bluegill chomping at anything that takes a pass or 3. Lots of fun and the kids love it.
just started watching you and love your creek fishing videos. i live in the middle region in Indiana and have creeks like this all around. love this kind of fishing :)
Yes, great accuracy casting.
That looked like a lot of fun catching those fish. Thanks for the video 🙏
Nice rod John. Thank you for sharing. God bless you and you family and friends...🙏❤🙏❤🙏
You are fun to watch and commentary is entertaining. You sure can cast accurately
You should get a pair of boot-foot waders. You can get a quality pair for less than $200. It'll be safer and more comfortable for you. Great videos.
too hot, id rather worry about losing shoes than wear waders
I like your videos and your casting skills. Keep it up. Thanks
Cool little rod
Where are the 28 inch "wild" brown trout that "Chasing The Wild with Dusty Rhoads" always catches in streams smaller than this one? 😂🤣😂
It’s that time to start tossing the crickhopper!
yes sir
Looks like moccasin and copperhead territory.
👍🏻👍🏻
Oh I’m early 🎣
What is this “orange” lure your using? Looks like it works really well.
bobby garland itty bit slab hunter
What rod is that?

#292👍🏻🎣👀
😡 @ petro in the 3's where you live. It's over 5 here on the California Central Coast with 6's in certain neighborhoods for no other reason than bad politics and grifting but I digress.
Whew.... I think I picked up 3 ticks just watching you walk through those weeds and woods....
As a backwoods New Englander fisherman here’s a little advice, when walking thru woods with a fishing pole always have the tip of your rod trailing behind you and hold it at a level position. This way the rod won’t get hung up on a branch or worst breaking the tip off. Thanks for the video and keep a tight line.
yeah ive tried that but always go back to pointing it where i want to go
just bought a UL set up because of you. The collection is blossoming quick. My favourite thing to throw so far has been a 3' wacky rig. Cheers John!!
I bet John can hit three-pointers like mad when he plays. His touch on casts is magical.
$3.459/gal is EXPENSIVE?! Get out of town! Here on the West Coast, our gas is a lot more valuable than that! Regular is at $4.69 out here. Every mile counts.
Shut it off going downhill?
Cause you'll elect idiots
Gas prices have jumped since I was up that way last week.
I found a deep hole, maybe 3-4 feet, in a creek and have been catching bullheads, catfish, fallfish, and really pretty sunfish. Saw some moderately sized bass too. It’s more fun than fishing a big lake IMO.
Catch some bass maybe a sunfish or creek chub. Then out of nowhere you get a muskrat, turtle or 10lb carp off a worm. My 6lb line hated that and im not unhooking a muskrat idc its not worth getting a bite i cut the line. he can take hook out if he wants because he didn't want my help. Turtles are way easier to unhook then mink or muskrat.
Your anti-snake flip flops are fantastic and 100% effective.
worked great so far
Sometime show us how to identify the various species of sunfishes. Thanks for video.
Mr. John...🐟
I had to stop in the middle of the video right after you said you had forceps you can't find!
I wrote you several weeks ago with an idea that I always had with me when I fished. Black thin cord from an ice fishing tip up and a small hemostat and a nail clipper... easy to put together! Wear it around your neck whenever you're fishing. Hang it from your rear-view mirror so you see it all the time... I don't think it'll be an obstruction because it's longer...
Now back to your video...😊
Deb Gardetto
"The Barber" from Watertown, Wisconsin
i might remember it if it hangs on my mirror
You catch a ton of nice big bass in your kayak episodes but I think what I like most John is your never ending fascination with small creek fish. It's infectious, enthusiastic and makes people want to fish creeks! My ultralight fishing experiences have improved greatly thanks to you.
Not creek chub! BASS BAIT !! LOL 😆
@mashukyreilight I don't do " fish tank" but I do live bait fishing!!
@mashukyreilight I put a very small smallmouth in a fish tank I had then along with my aquarium fish. NOT A GOOD IDEA! He tore my tank to pieces chasing the other fish! They were jumping out of the tank, he was knocking over all the fish tank things. He knocked the aerator over! He got flushed, sorry to say...they are incredibly aggressive 😳
God bless you John and your channel my dude! Your vids definitely inspire me!👍💯🎣✝
If you carry your rod back words (butt first) you'll rarely get snagged or run the risk of breaking the rod tip.
sometimes it helps, i usually dont have trouble carrying it forwards
Ultra light fishing nice! Great video
First comment start blowing it up
Amazing how much more fun a moderate UL rod on light line can be when you are creek fishing!
Epic warmouth catch from under that bridge 🌉 Jon!!! Wooooooo weeeeeeeeeee
Deet my friend
I quit fishing anything other than ultralight. I have a Shakespeare Durango 2UL and a Cast King reel and catch anything I want. Have caught everything from Bluegill, Coosa Bass to 5.5 lb Spots and 7lb Largemouth on it. A 2 lb spot is amazing. I throw Yum Fingers no weight Texas and Wacky rigged. 4lb test.
Its good to see you small creek wading! I like the kayak videos, but it's also good to see a return to the roots of your videos.
Interesting theory on the heavy rainfall/ flood allows the fish to go ahead and migrate. If they're big enough it would explain the amount of juveniles you are catching aswell
18:12 Those don't look like good fishing shoes. I at least used to wear tennis shoes, old ones. You need something with some laces to help hold the shoe to your foot.
Leading a walk through the forest with an Ultralight tip could prove an expensive mistake.
Why not walk with it upright?
I’ve been wading through mucky stuff like that since the 60’s and I still don’t like it. I always enjoy hearing all bugs and birds in the background, really nice audio.
Thanks joe biden for the gas prices.😂
You can thank Sleepy Joe for all kinds of economic disasters and crime.
@@timb8970agree !
Largest economic disaster in the last 10 years happened under Trump with covid. Biden is sleepy but he still got us out of that mess. Cant blame it all on the blue guy just cause he's blue
I wish I could do this. Where I live, Ohio, we're not allowed to walk down the creeks.
This is the best thing to do in the summer in the south. It's so dang hot and crowded on the lakes and rivers.
My favorite thing to do this time of year is walk a cool shadey creek.
Wow, what a great day of creek fishing🐟🎣🐟🎣
Sorry John, but I disagree. I feel like you've done plenty of studying on fish habits and it shows. 😅
Great video bro. Love ultra light fishing. Gas is cheap were you live!!!!
usually is about the lowest in the country
$3.35 a gallon? I wish I had it that good. Try $4.70 in Central California
OMGosh I would love to pay $3.45 a gallon for gas
Tick city on the way to the fishing hole. Check yourself for ticks and be safe!
Howdy sir. Are you allergic to poison ivy by chance. Hopefully not
YES, these are the best type of videos. Classic ultralight creek fishing
LOL, ever wonder if God uses the fish as bait to lure you in so as to give the bugs something to eat?
I have the same exact setup with 4 pound mono but my lews is 5’6
Gas prices good-o Bidennomics I voted for the other guy
Is that a commiefornia creek? With all that diversity and all. lol
I have same rod, I really like the fast tip for jig head fishing
Thanks John for sharing, Nice adventure.
UL fishing is my favorite, I live in a town that's a big fishing spot that has one big main river going through it and several brooks/streams. I literally just go out walking around town with my rod and backpack tacklebox and look for nice quiet spots to fish
nice
I know you're wearing some deet LoL!
You gotta be in Missouri, Kentucky, maybe Arkansas? That looks like home.
tennessee
i hadnt fished in 10 years, went to my local walmart , bought a cheap spinrod combo, some small hooks, splitshot, and a few bobbers and a box of live worms. I had a blast at the creek down below my apt . Ive caught a ton of bluegills and a small channel cat a few days ago
nice
Thermacell, worth it's weight in gold
Warmouth looked more like a redeye/rockbass
18:05 My local creeks are mostly muddy. No Crocs or slip-on's for me. Gotta lace shoes tight lest they disappear in the muck 😂
Have you tried the Trout Magnet small crawfish lure on these creeks? Just curious.
Yes I have and its really good also
Some of those bluegills are colored like red breasts. Think they're hybrids?
could be
Anyone else not have audio on this video?
This makes me want to get a UL setup and do this around my area. I don't want to deal with the mosquitos though. 😂
Man try 5.49 a gallon for plus
Personally, I enjoy creek/ small stream fishing more than anything else. It’s fun to explore.
Good video ! I just recently got myself a UL setup (cheaper quality, but still lots of fun), have only gotten to try it out once. Nice warmouth ! As for the mosquitos, I have to have some DEET spray before even going out. Now I've got to try the ol' creekhopper next outing ! Always be safe. Pap Blevins
This is my kind of fishing. All to myself. Great video as always John. Thinking about moving up your way. Too dang hot in Mississippi. No creeks to get into around here. Originally fro NE TN so I’d be close to my mountains too
These hot temps I have snagged unintentionally a few little guys and I feel so bad, sometimes in the eye... anyway, I think the Hot temps have big guys hiding and resting and small fish aggressive.
Great video brother, love the ultralight fishing/creek exploring ones. Noticing the bugs bite is definitely heating up in the dog days of summer. Its hard to beat the fun of catching little panfish on ultralight gear and 4# line. Straight away one of my favorites. Blessings John
As much as I love going for that big smallmouth, I always find myself back in the headwaters of my favorite creeks with an ultralight, going for panfish and little smallies. The clear, rocky streams of middle TN are my favorite!
Enjoyed the video, thank you for the continuously improving content!
Hey John! I just bought my new favorite lure, the z popper. It's 1.75 inches and it catches fish. You should check it out.
I absolutely love your content, but the 1080p quality is killing me!
Great video! Great adventure! Thanks for sharing my friend. #CreekFishingAdventures rocks!!!
Heck yeah what a creek.
Ultralight creek fishing is by far my favorite type of fishing. The Crickhopper has been tearing it up for me lately in the creeks. I just got back from vacation and we stayed on a really small lake in eastern Tennessee the trout magnets were killing it. I don’t think that lake gets fished very much the bluegill were monsters and aggressive. The bass seemed to want craws. I caught a few on Texas rigged craws and a few on jigs with a craw trailer.
A lot of the areas here have mud bottoms like that creek. It makes wading a bit difficult. If your shoes don’t come off you tip over trying to lift your feet.
Mantap bro
What kind of socks do you wear with your wading boots?
just cotton socks this time
I agree about his casting skills. Practice (doing it) makes perfect, right?
Have you ever considered getting a fly rod for spots like this? Those little ones would probably go nuts
what are you wading in?
Thanks for showing your fishing. I used to do this but my health and balance won’t allow it anymore.
Do you fish 4 stAte area
I agree with you on the flooding and big fish finding a new deep hole. I experience that in creek fishing all the time too. Just got to keep finding the holes. Green sunfish are always fat it seems like. I love catching a red breasted sunfish they are so pretty
I'd wager you are not allergic to Poison Ivy?
i get it every summer
I love watching your videos. Your fishing is always fun “to join in”.
I had to hit the like button just for your sacrificing yourself in that mud. fun video.
New sub here🎉
Great vid! I like the back to basic creek fishing stuff the most!
