Should do one of the home made contests where it’s all corking. The exterior of the bat has to stay the same but they can do whatever they want to the internal.
Eric, you're looking for something to increase the trampoline effect of the wood. Try pouring hot rubber or something eith a similar density, then cap the hole with at least three inches of wood to form a compression pocket in the sweet spot of the bat.
I gotta give Eric credit. He always has great baseball content consistently, funny and interesting always. Really respect how far he’s come, I remember him throwing and drinking in a Canadian indoor cage 😂
Try filling the hole entirely with wood glue. If you have a lot in one place and keep it away from oxygen so it dries slowly, it dries firm but still has give/squish/bounce and would completely adhere to the wood ("dries stronger than wood") so it wouldn't come flying out the end. Plus, it's just about the same weight or less as actual wood. We need a follow-up episode with the top 5-10 suggestions in the comments. Don't ignore us!
30 years ago, as a kid, a guy at a sporting goods store told me you do it with cut up pieces of racquetballs; which, in terms of physics, seems like a valid idea.
Using something to make it SLIGHTLY heavier but springy like modeling clay may get even more impressive results. Not all modeling clay just some mixed with something stable like cork or something to fill gaps. The trick is not to make it overtly heavy just a bit but filling any air pockets. Maybe even spray insulation foam around cork.
I'd have a welder make a cast for hollowed out chrome steel marbles with a clay core, roughly ~3-5 mm thickness and ~10-20 mm diameter to cork my bat with something to dampen the impact of the marbles against eachother. I'd have to consult someone what the optimal dimensions are for the integrity of the balls and bat as well as the performance of the finished product. Basically the idea is that metal and clay are far denser than wood, although clay is prone to damage, so the metal shell would protect it. The finished product would not be lighter and possibly heavier, but it would in theory have substantially more pop like the composite cores for Stealth or Catalyst bats
Opposite of the intent of standard corking, but I would try something like tungsten or lead to see what could happen with F = ma aiming for an increase in mass instead of acceleration that normal corking looks at
Should try "corking" aluminum bats and testing those out. Just an idea from the remake of Bad News Bears when the kid went up to bat, tapped the plate with his bat, which caused the tip to break off and a bunch of ping pong balls to fall out 😂
Surprised I haven't seen this recommendation yet but you should try spray foam. It should accomplish the same thing as the nerf but fill the entire cavity and be its own adhesive.
I think you need to use that cork that comes in a can and pack it in. If you google cork filler you can find it. I believe its used in shoe making. Also I'm not sure it makes the bat bouncier i think its to remove weight but if it does make it bouncier the cork would need to be tightly pack into the hole like that canned cork filler stuff
Wish y'all had done a second round of normal bat tests after the corked rounds, just to eliminate the possibility that ES got looser as the tests went on resulting in higher bat speed and EV
I think something like lightweight rubberized caulk would work well. Firm and dense so you don't lose the central strength, but you'll lose a lot of weight.
Lightning a bat for higher bat speed is one thing but spring in the bat -- the so-called 'Trampoline' effect is an effect that could be primary to bat weight lightning.
3:30 I'm a long time Cubs fan, so, of course, I would cork a bat with those little Super-Hi Bounce balls you used to could get from gum machines, ala Slammin' Sammy Sosa!
You should do a combo episode of picking out store bats and then picking out a variety of tampons and corking the store bought bats with tampons…using same test 😂
You really want something that slides in the groove inside the bat as the swing cones around so that the mass reaches the end of the bat as the swing finishes.
Bro next time measure to find center and use a drill press or a lathe. Drill press is definitely cheaper but with a lathe you can literally turn a bat on your own
I would like to see a bat drilled out like this and then have an aluminum vacuum flask style tube installed. Would need to be a sealed tube to be right though.
keep the sawdust to backfill to fill the gaps - suppose to have more bounce rather than lighter weight lol if you want less weight then just get a lighter bat 🤣🤣🤣
Should have used concrete.
😂
Keep this at 69 likes
One time I found a little league bat cleaning out a storage locker that had concrete poured into lol weighed like 20 lbs
@@wishdeus Sounds like Capone's bat from the Untouchables

They did do that
@@julianarvelo7072 I thought they did better bats, and they messed with the exteriors.
@julianarvelo7072 You are both correct. They have a video doing both the outside of the bats and also corking their bats.
With concrete?😂

You do this with a lathe not a drill 😑

eric is the kind of youtuber you can get hours of entertainment of and not get tired of watching. great videos man

I knew a guy who said he put a racquetball in one of his bats when he was younger and it was insane. I’ve always wanted to see if that was true.
I literally just commented almost the exact same story, so clearly it’s a thing!
Its a thing! Did it with the 08 vexxum.
@@willylaughlin2170 I loved the Vexxum without a racquetball
@@atrout114 yeah pretty good bat! Had a friend knock the cap off and thought we would have wine fun with it
They don’t do shit except weakness the batt. It’s simple
High density expanding foam.
Also take your bats to a wood worker that can get a hole perfectly down the barrel
Or just put the bat on a lathe
Just imagine reaching out to a big leaguer to find out he's corking his bat with Nerf Rival rounds😂
Air Pressure. Engineer a valve stem coming out of the cup. Keep the nerf stuff inside for filler, shoot some air pressure in their and kabooom!
7:15 Sammy Sosa has entered the chat 😂
He's still one of my favorites
I love how giddy Eric got when Trev said the bat was going to survive. Eric was for sure thinking “no way he actually thinks I can do it”🤣
She walked in to that one. Like how did she not know what the outcome was going to be. 1:38
We need a compilation of Eric breaking his bats
ITS NERF OR NOTHING
I’m not a fan of baseball I’ve never played a game in my life but man, he’s such a great entertainer I love the videos
those bouncy balls that you find in those 75 cent dispensers would be like the perfect thing to cork a bat with i feel like
Mighty goat did that one
It's Nerf or nothing!
3:31 trampolines tons and tons of trampolines 😂
(You said anything right😂)

Yall should try the bat that's filled with nitrous
6:59 five nights at Freddy’s music
That’s awesome!
I was at your Salem Keizer volcanoes home run derby and game and it was sick!
10:39 I can’t breathe 😂
I would try putting in expanding urethane foam, or fill it up with sillicone and let it cure!
That was so good my sun said these
The part where she said these balls are too big for the hole to fit in got me dying
We love to see the consistency Eric
Consistency of folding right lol
Eric swing in this video reminds me of nick castellanos 😅

"You can't mess with that bat, it's the best thing ever." Also illegal lmfao
Momentum has gotta do diy training equipment. Something you make from home depot materials that could actually aid in training
These are the best videos
Try the expanding spray foam they use for insulation and then try just drilling the hole and leave it empty
It’s happening!?!?
madison/gilmore references i feel like a boomer right w yall
I was about to comment y’all are slipping but then BAM whiffle ball baby!!! 😂😂😂
Chris Sabo is having PTSD watching this
Love how your using the tee you guys bought Trevor.
He was using the five nights at Freddy’s song at some point
Somebody at Momentum must be a Coop772 fan. Nerf Rival rounds AND the same font Coop used?

I did this with bouncie balls the small ones from the 25 cent machines. Seemed to work good when I was a kid
this just proves eric's carried by metal bats
The segue into that Manscapred at was perfect
How about using expanding foam?
Man I wish I had batting cages like this where I lived, they look so fun

Who was that guy with very little hair that said yes?? 🙂
You have to try it with those little rubber "Super Balls" the ball bounces of of it like a loaded spring.
I wonder how spray foam insulation would hold up, or something a little denser but can still cushion the blow of hitting a ball
I had always heard corking bats with superballs was the real play. That was 90s baseball mythology anyway.
Love those corked bat videos
We used to juice aluminum bats with hand balls, try it. Late 80's early 90's tho
Love it or hate it, we’re watching a scientist at work here folks
You should try corking in with rubber cement. Closest thing to concrete but has bounce and is light.
Hey Eric "Mr Tool Man" LOL
Dip it in flex seal next time or line X
Carbon fiber center core , something similar as a pool cues shaft. But definitely carbon fiber center core. 👌

Closed cell insulation foam. Light and hard as a rock.

I've always wanted to see someone use sprayfoam to fill a bat. I feel like it would be like the corked bats but won't have to have an adhesive.
I honestly wonder how caulking would work, it should have a similar effect to cork since it becomes rubber-like once it hardens
No you were just hoping for cake! Skill level jackO!!
Is it just me, or is it extra funny that the best performance was given by a "NERFED" bat ...
