I don't expect mono-white to stop being a menace in Alchemy for a long time - there are too many synergistic cards that they would have to nerf. As for Alchemy itself, I support balance changes, but I can't support WotC's practices like refundless nerfs, making the new Alchemy cards 90% rares, etc.
I mean youre still getting free cards that can be used outside of alchemy for free so even if you dont plan on playing it youre still benefiting from it
A more optimized version of this deck turned out to be my favorite standard deck of all time; running 3 copies of lorehold command and all 4 goldspan dragons turned out to be the secret to the meta. This is the deck that made me fall in love with tempo, after my first crafted deck being dimir rogues; thank you CGB for letting me re live a standard long gone.
Whilst I'm excited for Alchemy as a new format with a regularly evolving metagame I am disgusted by Wizards using it as an excuse to not make standard bans. They know that if they don't ban Epiphany it makes players more inclined to buy into and play Alchemy and I think that's just a rather shameful way to manage your game and abuse your player base.
I'm not 100% sure about that. There's still MTGO and Paper audiences (some or many of which who will never touch Arena). Bans need to come from the Paper department first before it can hit Arena Standard.
@@greyfox3954 I agree. It's the Izzet shell in general, Expressive Iteration, Galvanic Iteration, Divide by Zero and Unexpected Windfall... I love that the answer to the format being terrible is to create a new game mode, rather than hold WotC responsible for fixing the current meta or creating balanced cards the first place. I'm not mad about Alchemy, I'm mad that this is going to give WotC and their fanboys even more of an excuse to ignore standard more than they already do.
when have they ever made a balanced meta, format, or set? The game is too complex - it's IMPOSSIBLE to make a set perfect before it's released. They make these cards like a year before they're published. They have no idea how the meta will shape. Now obviously they should be able to avoid stuff like Oko but modern product development is ITERATIVE because people figured out that old-school waterfall project management rarely works out well. Alchemy is the right path - but we all know they'll still fuck it up.
"Balance" can't happen when 2000+cards are being created yearly. WOTC doesn't even realize when they produce cards that destroy the little bit of balance that's already there. Their answer is to "fix" cards that came out months ago. If they just stopped mass producing so many sets and actually played their own game, It'd be easy to figure out where the next set needs to focus.

I love videos like this where you show us cool and innovative decks that are well-positioned in the current metagame. I think this deck might just be the best big thing! :-) Great content!
Sorry you're getting all the hate, you're very entertaining. Great to see magic of course - but lots of people play magic, on paper I only play EDH haha, but Arena is it's own beast - and I'm definitely not here for the format xD I'm really glad that MTG will enter the digital space, I absolutely think they could have done it "better" haha, but I'm gonna watch no matter what you're playing! Arena being it's own beast is a Good thing, them allowing you to interact with the game in a digital way is a Good thing, keeping the day to day bread and butter format fresh and balanced - very good - so good. The few issues it has, from my perspective, is the majority of the day to day arena players won't be able to "keep up" with how quickly it changes, and that's fine - but if that leads the majority of the players to not queue for Alchemy, and it appears this potentially Really Really good thing for Arena Is Not doing well (despite it's huge potential) and they scrap it, that'd be a shame. It's going to be Huge at the start, and then it'll change, and it'll lose some players - maybe a few more who stopped playing earlier in the format pop back in, and then it'll change again... and hopefully that cycle is sustainable - until a new set drops and makes everything new again. I guess the issue is it has such a big buy in compared to other formats, not just a couple sets a year, and if it's successful they're going to have a Fantastic year financially like you're saying haha. But they could have implemented the format - slightly differently - to be more resilient. Like you said, you might lose some viewers, it's a huge polarizing topic today, I'm sure people will care less over time and you're going to gain more people over this nonsense (like it's your fault lol) just continuing to produce the Highest quality MTG content. Your personality is perfect for the game, especially since you play such diverse decks - you know enough to do it well - and if you consider your deck to be the "bad guy" in the format you're an excellent villain, you play a wonderful underdog - the content you put out isn't Magic it's just done through Magic haha. But imagine if you lose people like that... every couple weeks when nerfs and buffs change up the meta? It was worth acknowledgement from you over just a one time incident - but will it deter them from continuing to support the format? Hopefully not.

Maybe they should plan ahead and actually get quality players to play test cards before they finalize and print them. Any and all of these busted cards and combos could have been found long before they ever went to print.
@@TheLukieBoi1 Most people hugely overvalue the capacity of a small group of people to actually find every possible avenue compared to the actual playerbase. Of course being the devs of the game they should have a much higher than average capacity to do so, but even then it pales in comparison to the tens of thousands of decks that can be made and played even day 1 of release. And i'm not even saying epiphany shouldn't have gone away a while ago, that's just a specific example inside a much broader issue. Paper format is inherently difficult to balance due to its immutable nature and actual IRL value (which goes away for the most part when ban happens) but that wasn't that much of an issue before digital came out. Digital makes it much easier to play a lot more games than you would IRL and makes them much easier to play in small increments so formats are "figured out" much faster because of that. And it also obviously gets stale much faster. Magic is in general planned ahead for like 2y, that's not the issue as well.

Respect his name.
Yeah I’ve had so many down to one life losses cause of this deck, it’s so frustrating. Also each match is like 15 mins long, I think the majority of wins with it comes from people just scooping out of frustration
That was my experience, if they play out the game I win much less frequently with this deck. It isnt as strong as everyone thinks, and thats reflected by the stats showing its not played very frequently

I'm PUMPED for Alchemy and am stoked to watch
This right here is why Alchemy is needed (or at least a nice alternative to Standard)…thanks for the reminder CGB!
Agreed 1000%, I’ll probably stop doing standard and just be alchemy once it’s released
I'm glad you are trying out Alchemy even though the format isn't for me, I will still watch you play it.
I told you over a year ago to stop caring what the comments say, and some fans that actually like you express it by insulting you believe it or not. A view is a view thats all that matters. He who is most entertaining wins.
I trust you, sensai.
I am quite distrustful and anti-corporate by nature. You have displayed a level of sincerity that is rare and should be cherished. It takes stones of steel to reveal your income directly to the people who support you.
I hope the shill comments don't get you down. I think many of the people coming from that angle are uninformed, misinformed, or upset about something outside of your control, such as their purchasing power.
The patron saint of persistence. Respect his name.
always stay till the end, cant wait for some Alchemy content, new cards are fun! bring on the new brews!
New brews? He plays copied meta decks 90% of the time.
When you say Luminarch Aspirant I keep hearing Luminarch Asspirate, and I agree.
CGB with this deck: “I’m going to change standard even if if I have to destroy it”
He actually thinks WOTC cares about what he thinks. He's just working on getting into mythic and uses excuses to play the top tier meta decks.
Love the deck, I added a Lythaform Engine into it too though, works great
Always stay to the end because I’m cool. Can’t wait for Alchemy content. Haters gonna hate. You do you.
The amount of irony in this intro is delightfull
Best Intro? Yes.
Deck on the intro shows 3x Cinderclasm but the first gameplay deck it's playing Battle of Frost & Fire - which one is better?
That is explained at the end
I love all the snark in the first two minutes. This is the content I'm here for, the bitter sarcasm. I legit lol'd.
I think you’re an amazing content creator, ignore the haters and I look forward to seeing what alchemy does for the client!
CGB subtly showing is why Alchemy is there.
Yuuuuuuuuuup.
Hey, don't listen to the haters. I'm not saying they don't make some good points, but boy, the moment content creators do not echo their negative opinions, they will go out of their way to bring you down. You're either with them or against them.
i always stay till the end :)
Hi CGB, I don't comment a lot on videos for UA-cam, but I just wanted to make a simple comment saying that your content is great and your videos are entertaining, fun and informative. Please do not let the haters bring you down because there are a lot of people who genuinely enjoy your stuff, brother! You are cool, stay cool :)
Had a blast with the mono red yesterday, think it would be better in alchemy since many mainstream deck got nerfed and it was unaffected
I expect we will see Red today on stream. We all need to see if that deck was really as (shockingly) good as it seemed.
Play whatever you find fun, CGB. I'll watch regardless. :)
Don't give the naysayers oxygen. You have your own opinions, they have theirs. They're looking for a reaction from you and nothing you do could ever please them.
My body is ready for alchemy content
